Awesome man. Looking forward to what you've got coming down the pipes.

As far as making money off the blog - I'd say based on my experience - is build a community first and foremost. Then seek to monetize it.

This process could take a little while (1 or 2 yrs in most cases). And you have to be diligent about updates. You have to treat it like a business.

I wont speak for these guys but here's my best guess: Naughty - probably hasn't made any money because the blog doesn't provide a way for readers to spend money. But he's slowly building a community and should definitely be thinking about building a product soon.

G, on the other hand, should be making some money right now (links to other products). He too should be thinking about creating a product.

What you could do immediately:
1. keep providing solid content and pushing people to your blog.
2. go to crowdspring.com and get a sick logo made.
3. Sign-up for a Mail Chimp or Aweber account and start building an email list of guys interested in travel, pickup, money. Then try to provide them solutions to their problems.
4. Treat it like a biz and nothing less.

Some products I'd recommend you check out:
1. Empire Building Kit - Chris Guillebeau
2. David Walsh is releasing M6 System soon: Muselife.com
3. Anything from Frank Kern
4. Anything from Kevin Wilke
5. Anything from Eben Pagan

My first blog post is about some cities that I've been interested in lately.

The more I use wordpress the more I realize how versatile this platform is and how much I have to learn about using it.

I'm mostly using this to just organize my thoughts on this someplace other than facebook.

I'd appreciate any comments/advice related to what you guys see on the blog.

Also, is anyone making money off their blog?

Naughty, Gmanifesto, etc.

-YMG

Nice blog
-use facebook/twitter to build your ripple along with your blog..
-love the design, make sure it's unique and not some standard stock template anybody can get...use crowdsource if you have to for a unique design..
-if your gonna do the whole digital, jetset, advice thing then DO NOT POST SHIT WITH NO PICTURES OF THE CITY or GIRLS...I hate reading blogs doling out advice on scooping chicks with no fucking pics...I need proof of life or your just phony...all kind of digital camera's available...
-make sure your SEO is tight...it will help save you on PPC if you want to build traffic...
-look for opportunities to build that traffic into conversions....I mean anything, you can use shopify as a ecommerce platform to market products...pens, ipad/cell phone holders, shirts, money clips, shot glasses...you name it...ABC=Always Build Conversions...

You have a nice looking site.
As mentioned before, you should build a community, brand yourself as an expert in your field. Make sure you also join and comment on other blogs in the same topic and post useful contents/comments on their blogs to build rapport with these blog owners. Mainly guys like Cody at thrillingheroics.com, sean ogle at location180.com and Matt at nomadicmatt.com These are all good sites filled with awesome content you can use to inspire you and even get in touch with these cool cats. Try also to connect with other successful bloggers in your area and even if possible, meet with them, create a support kind of group as you'll learn a ton this way and also will have the opportunity to network with them and be exposed to other potential good business opportunities/projects with them.

Get an auto responder at aweber.com and set up a free subscription to your site/newsletter on your site. If you're able to, create a short ebook on either the topic of your site or another related topic that would be of interest to the guys reading your site and offer it as a free download to anyone who subscribes to your newsletter/list. If you don't have the time and or expertise to write a short ebook, go to either elance or the warrior forums and hire some ghost writers to write for you 10-15 articles on the topic of your ebook, then put them together as an ebook. You should have articles written for you at usually 1-5 bucks per 350 word article.

You may also want to head over the best internet marketing community online at the warrior forum to learn about internet marketing. Do not waste your money or time on the wealthy affiliate membership site. This would be a site for absolute beginners to learn the basics about internet marketing. A much better investment of time would be to read as much as you can on the free warrior forums. You may also want to learn as much as you can about cpa marketing to monetize your site. Make sure you have a good looking site filled with valuable content and then, to really monetize it, drive a ton of traffic to it and with cpa's you could make some nice profits with it.

I'm also in the process of building a blog for my up coming travels/mini retirements around the world. Hope this helps.

I agree with most of what you wrote. Sean, Cody, and people in that community are very accessible and will help you out. Definitely start commenting on other blogs with quality responses and always have an opinion.

My thoughts based on personal experience:
1. I think the Warrior Forum is a waste of time. You'll scour through hundreds of posts before you find one that provides real value - remember, that forum is full of people trying to make money. Most of those idiots are newbies and have no idea what they're talking about.

I say, spend the cash on a quality course written by a reputable online businessman - ie the guys I mentioned above. You've got to spend money on business education. And, simple human psychology says you'll value the information more if you pay for it and you'll be more likely to act on it.

I speak from experience when I say, I've wasted way too much time f*cking with free info and I've been screwed over from taking that route.

All the guys who make real money with their online ventures read / buy as many marketing and business courses as they can. The most educated people win.

Tim Ferriss created a new generation of guys (myself included) who believed that entrepreneurship was easy and that you could be a complete moron and still succeed. Maybe it happens for some, but not for most.

2. Write your own ebook or report. The quality of articles you'll get for $1-5 will absolutely shock you (it'll be awful), and those people will just google search everything and spout off info we've already heard before. Write from experience. Pay someone if you don't care about providing REAL value for your subscribers.

The niche you'll be getting into (one filled with guys like us) want originality and credibility and aren't necessarily looking for a quick fix like the fat loss niche. We use the internet differently than other niches, so be prepared for that.

3. This is no way meant to discourage. I'm seriously one of the most optimistic people I know.

YMG,

Solid start to your blog. My favorite article was on the 7 top cities but for some reason I didnt see where I could leave a comment. Great use of pictures!

My main suggestion would be this: Setting up an attractive blog is so easy that so many people have set one up. Including people who are extremely interesting and/or compelling writers. The key is separating from the damn pellaton.

If you really want to stand out, I'd suggest making a name for yourself outside of the blogosphere to build non-virtual credibility.

Here is Tim Ferriss' advice:

"The Expert Builder: How to Become a Top Expert in 4 Weeks

1. Join two or three related trade organizations with official-sounding names…
2. Read the three top-selling books on your topic (search historical New York Times bestseller lists online) and summarize each on one page.
3. Give one free one-to-three-hour seminar at the closest well-known university, using posters to advertise…
4. Optional: Offer to write one or two articles for trade magazines related to our topics, citing what you have accomplished in steps 1 and 3 for credibility…
5. Join ProfNet, which is a service that journalists use to find experts to quote for articles…"

I think that if you have real-world credentials it will be much easier to grow fast and monetize.

youngmobileglobal,

Good work. I am surprised more people on here don't have their own blogs. Hell, if I have one, and I am the least technological person out there (I was the last person on earth to get a cell phone), anyone can.

There is a lot of good advice above, but I will freestyle for you a bit:

#1 most important thing is you need to enjoy writing about what it is you are going to write about.

If you don't enjoy it, you will stop at some point.

#2 the marketing, the money, twitter, products etc, none of it matters if you don't bust out dope content.

If you bust out dope content, people will find you. (I have gotten emails from an Oscar nominated producer and some other heavies, but that is neither here nor there. I also couldn't really care less about this stuff, I am just giving you examples.)

The main thing about The G Manifesto for me is it is an artistic release. I don't do it for money, I don't do it for readers, I don't do it for comments.

I only do it for myself and a few of my friends. Really more for myself. I honestly don't care if anyone reads it.

The market is super saturated out there like you mentioned. I think it is important to write about things that no one has written about before.

I try to do that all the time. For instance, where else are you going to get a "Hipster VS Douchebag City by City Guide" other than The G Manifesto? (http://www.thegmanifesto.com/2010/09/hip...guide.html )

And in the history of the world, no one has written about how to swoop 100 girls per year ( http://www.thegmanifesto.com/2010/01/how...-year.html ). (Interesting that this post wasn't too popular, kind of shows what has happened to the american male. If I had written about 100 ways to spike your hair, or about 100 types of skinny jeans, I am sure it would have been an internet sensation).

So come out with the innovative sh*t.

Can you make money? Sure you can.

Roosh obviously makes a living for one.

My site makes dough. Again, though, I put minimal effort, and that is not my goal. I know sites with way less readers, google juice, positioning, than mine, that make tons of money.

This might have been rambling, as I could talk on this subject for hours, but I hope this helped.

Also, as far as the privacy thing, obviously, I have made a conscious effort on privacy. 1) I don't want to be famous. 2) I don't want my mug on the internet anywhere. 3) I believe it helps with the integrity of what I write. Who wants to take advice from a famous guy?

If you remain private, like I have, people will also question your authenticity at times. (Because, you know, doing drugs and picking up girls is such an amazing stretch for some people). F*ck them. I am not some 25 year old dork that thinks its cool to post his mug online. Plus, with the subject matter I write about, I never could.

I would rather keep it real with the stuff I write about vs toning it down. People will believe or not believe what they want anyway.

Sounds like you have a good niche.

Another benefit, is you might be able to gain biz contacts, and biz deals.

Also, make sure you read Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk (review here: http://www.thegmanifesto.com/2009/11/rev...rchuk.html ) Some might disagree with me on this, but the cat knows what he is doing.

I would do a video blog if you don't mind showing your mug. Video blogs are sick. Plus, if it is good enough, you might land a TV deal.

I have no doubt that if I did a video blog with a couple of my friend traveling, I would no doubt get a fat TV deal. Maybe on HBO though, or somewhere where drug use flies.

Another thing to consider is that we have no idea where all this internet stuff is going. (probably more corporate and weesh, but you never know.) The internet is super young still.

Having a blog is real estate.

Who knows if Phillip Morris will throw me couple sticks for my cigarette promotion in the future? (If they were smart, they would).

MPM - it's great that you haven't sold out yet and are doing what you love to do, although if most of us were in your shoes were probably would have gone for the movie/HBO deal already, haha.

In regards to your comment about business deals and contacts - you are spot on, that is exactly why I'd do it. I'm going to be getting into a brokerage job in my sector in about six months and I figure getting a spot in the top area for my keyword is the best way to start. For something like this, I probably would start an entirely separate blog as "Youngmobileglobal" is not entirely professional.

I really like this blog and want to model it for these purposes:

http://www.chinalawblog.com

These guys make a ton of business from their blog and it's clear they love what they are doing.

Passport Hustler - Funny you mention those books - last night I bought empire building kit and source control. Empire building kit lasts for an entire year so I will take that as it goes. Also, I will update you guys weekly or so about what the program is like.

http://empirebuildingkit.com/ebk-buy.htm

Source control is a bit different in that it is about creating systems and outsourcing. At 44 bucks it's a good deal (I read about 30 percent of it last night). However, I'd rather have the ebook that is currently unavailable.

I can't think of barely any blogs that are making decent bank that are completely anonymous. People like to do business with people they like and trust.

Your topics are not about raping or pillaging, I would reconsider whether you want to be anonymous.

Been busy away this weekend, hence I couldn't reply to this earlier, but anyways, good post Passport Hustler . I'll make a couple of quick comments:

I agree the Warrior forum can be a waste of time if one falls in the trap of spending way too much time there as I used to for a while. But it also has some true gems there. Yes, it's filled with either newbies or people trying to sell you their stuff, but there are some true gems to be found there.

Agreed again with you that buying a good course to educate yourself on the topic of internet marketing, but also on copy writing, negotiation, sales etc...from a specialist in the field is a given. Even better if you can find a successful one to mentor you. Of course, you'd have to give them value in return, whether you pay for their time and expertise or you help them with their tasks for free.

When I mentioned hiring someone to write you cheap articles, I was referring to do this for the free ebook to give out to people on your site to sign up as an idea. Of course, in the niche we're in, people are well versed and would want nothing short of pure first hand experience, not some crap rehearsed 20 billion times online. This was just a suggestion, but you're right that on this topic, it's better and more worthy for him to spend the time and write the ebook, even the free one. At least, it'll be UNIQUE content which is huge. I mean who wants to read the same crap that's all over the net? People want unique and interesting things to read. And of course, when you do post updates on your site or go about writing your own ebook. That goes without saying.

Btw, nice blog you have there with solid content, I'll bookmark it to read it on an ongoing basis. Btw, since you're in BKK, would you say it's easy to network and meet with other successful bloggers in our field there or not? I'd love to meet the likes of Sean Ogle, Cody, Matt (Nomadic Matt), yourself and other like minded there. Do you guys have a monthly or weekly meetings type of thing? I'd love to join you guys when I get to BKK in a bout a month! Let me know man.

YMG,
the Warrior Forums are a huge forum, the biggest and best in the Internet Marketing field IMO. I am a big fan of their War Room which is a paid members' section where the experts share for free their best stuff that they don't in the free section. I think it costs about 35 or some odd dollars to get access to the War Room but this is a one time lifetime fee. As far as I can tell, this has been the best 35 bucks I've ever spent online. Period.

Another area of interest IMO is their WSO area (Warriors' Special Offers) which is basically a market place to buy and sell products/services. However, be careful as this part can become very addictive to buying everything in sale. It can be come a negative addiction to buying everything in sight in that section, so careful about that as the majority are just pure crap as they are cheap ebooks that are sold for under 20 bucks.

Now, some of my favorite and bookmarked threads on these forums are:

Copy Writing:
http://www.warriorforum.com/main-interne...-file.html

Traffic generation: from 0 to 1000 FREE targeted visitor to your site in 30 days:

I posted the above very useful post as a way to show what kind of good informative and content filled posts can be found there from time to time.

There are quite a lot of very informative threads like this in each of the sections, just spend some time searching them, going through them and all. One can learn a lot there despite the forum being predominantly filled with either newbies or sharks trying to sell you their crap, there are still some very not only knowledgeable but also helpful people. I realize some of them are helpful to softly promote their products/services/memberships etc but they are some cool cats and catettes there.

There are a lot of different ways to make money online, either going the Adsense route and building niche after niche site. Lots of initial work but after a while, some sites will start to reap nice daily profits. Or you can go the CPA route, some people make 4, 5 and up to 6 figure DAILY doing CPA's but they require techincal knowledge and a lot of capital to scale to that kind of level, but can be done. There's one guy here in Toronto, Gauer Chaudry, probably the biggest dog in the CPA game and he makes 6 figures profits DAILY, but he's a genius and got there after years of sticking to it, mastering the game to perfection. There's a huge CPA section on the WF if that's of interest to you.

I tried the CPA game for a while, and due to the big amount of work involved to it, compared to what I'm doing, I stopped doing it and have been focusing mainly on high ticket affiliates that pay at least 1K a pop per sale ( my current and main and most profitable biz to date).

Or you can go the affiliate route, but I'd personally suggest against promoting items that pay peanuts (ie in the 10-100 bucks per sale). Much more profitable to focus on the high end products/services that pay 500, 1K+ per sale. I personally have had the most success with the ones paying 1K per sale and that's where I'm focusing on right now, specially on my GRN biz. I've had 3 streams of income (CPAs, a smaller travel affiliate and GRN) and for the past month or so, I've dropped or at least for now and the forseeable future, put on hold for now everything else to focus primarily on my GRN biz which will reach 6 figures in the next 6 months.

Hope this helps you YMG. Keep us posted on how your site evolves man.

Cheers,

VP.

Cheers,

VP.

I really enjoyed your blog, especially the post about the 7 cities for the young, mobile, and global. That was really relevant since I just got a location independent business running and I'm looking to relocate. I am strongly considering a trip to Thailand/Philippines sometime between March and May.

Your blog hasn't been updated since September but you are probably mad busy travelling so that is understandable. Let us know when you add some more posts - I would love to read them.

Also, if I can offer a suggestion.

Articles about "Travel Gear review" or "Mobile Lifestyle Hardware" or "My Mobile Office", the equipment stuff to geek-on, i think its valuable information for someone who is into or considering a mobile lifestyle.
