The Internship

I have been working a summer internship over the past two months. The internship has put me in an office space of a massive international company where I am surrounded by people who work in mid-upper level jobs at the company. Over this time, I have observed some of the higher ups in this region of the company. These are guys that have broken into a high enough level of the corporation where there work is less “work” and more so managing high-powered people, and massive amounts of money. The following people are guys that stood out to me. These are men who are in a business sense, true “alphas”. Their commanding personalities have led them to obtain high level positions.

Personally, I feel that the qualities they exhibit spill over into success with women. Albeit, these men are less interested in banging a series of women, and are more interested in business while having a side piece to satisfy their needs.

Obviously, they are all extraordinarily hardworking and intelligent.

One last thing, if you guys are interested in peering into the personality traits that takes a man to the top 1% and beyond, this is it.

Here goes:

The businessman – This guy is the most standout man out of all of them. A big part of this is that I have had more exposure to him than a lot of the other men. Regardless, he carries a highly commanding presence. He speaks at a moderate tone. The rate at which he speaks never decreases or increases. In all the time I have spent talking to him, he has never revealed his true emotions. He has never revealed his true plans with anything he does. The furthest he goes in showing emotion is cracking a smile. Even then it rarely goes beyond a smirk. There is always an air of mystery about him. He never grovels before a man whom he wants to do something for him. Instead he will talk to him, listen to what he says, and then slowly reveal all the value he can bring to the table if he jumps onto his side. He makes direct eye contact and holds it. He can sit in utter silence, and then say what needs to be said. If someone enters a conversation topic he does not care about or wants to speak about, he will listen to what they say, take a long pause, then start talking about what he is truly interested in. When it comes to body posturing, his go to body posture while sitting down, is leaning back and holding his hands behind his head. He will carry an entire conversation like this. He has a couple ticks. He will pull at his collar, and there will be random periods where he will look like he is going to break out into a laugh, but it falls short and he ends up cycling between a still face and a slight smirk. Ultimately, he reveals a man who is sharp and has total utter control over his emotions.

The one man show – This man does insane amounts of traveling around the country as he manages an entire line of business for the company. He alone rakes in millions upon millions of dollars for the corporation through his smart business decisions. He is always smiling when talking. He can carry endless conversation. In fact he talks so much and is so interesting that he ends up dominating the conversation. He also never truly reveals his emotions or what he really thinks about anything. He understands politics, and never wavers even when people are pushing him to reveal his true opinions. He also has a deep understanding of what people want to hear. He knows people’s soft spots, and uses that to calm them or win them over. He wins alliances with people this way.

The liaison – This man works as a liaison for some wealthy landowners. This man is short. That was my immediate impression of him. After watching him talk for half an hour, it did not matter. He had a real presence while not immediate noticeable, it was undeniably there. He stood up straight, shoulders back, and even his head was turned up slightly. He made strong eye contact, and usually had a big smile. This man would calmly listen to whatever anyone else was saying. He would even play people and say what they wanted to hear in order to ensure that they were on his side rather than working against him. One of the things I noticed he would do is drop information that he was working for some powerful landowners, and his job went beyond the meeting we were have there at that moment. It gave off the feeling that while he is paying absolute 100% attention to what is being said in the meeting; he had more going on in his life than just the plans that were being presented to him, and that he could walk away from the deal. Essentially, he could not be screwed over.

The engineer – This is the last one that comes to mind. This guy is not working on the same level as the first two, but he has started his own business and is extraordinarily successful at acquiring work and maintaining business. He is a bit more methodical in his approach. He understands that what he is ultimately dealing with are people. He will offer them lunch, just so he can have a conversation with them. He will relate to people. He even goes as far to offer people help even when they can give him nothing in return. He does this because he knows that this is the start of a new relationship where he will be on the person’s mind when they need service that falls into his field. He is always calm, cool and collected.

The last thing I have to say about these men. They all maintain a certain level of mystery and finesse. Everything they say and do has multiple meanings, multiple purposes. It is incredible.
