Stories about Crazy or Eccentric People

So I was at the gym yesterday and this guy was occupying the squat rack doing calf-raises. He would do his set then go to the paper-towel dispenser to wipe his face afterwards.

After his 2nd set, I tapped him on the shoulder and asked him how many more sets he had. He pretended like he didnt hear me, so I followed him back to the squat rack.

Then he exploded at me in a British accent "Why did you touch my shoulder? Why didn't you just say 'excuse me' Dont you know its rude to touch people in the gym. Blah blah blah." He was very convinced that he was right and was yelling at me like I was a child or something

I was like woahhh. wtf. I am very non-confrontational and just held up my hands and left.

Makes me wonder... If mental disorders are estimated at 10% of the population, you are running into lots of mental or semi-mental cases everyday. Weird to think about it like that....

What are your experiences with crazy or eccentric people? Shoot down some stories

WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude

Would have punched that dude in the face, most guys who lift are understanding and don't use the squat rack for calf raises that shit is retarded.

This guy was obviously a nutjob. But generally speaking, people who pay for gym membership have the right to use the equipment in weird ways, as long as they're not damaging it or hogging it all to themselves. I try to always have alternative exercises or orders of exercises ready when I workout in case of stuff like this, so I don't unduly stress out over it.

Normally, I just go up to the guy between sets and say something like, "Hey whats up man? Just wondering if you'll be on there for a while," 9 times out 10 he'll say no, I only have one more set. Even with his earbuds on he'll see me coming if its between sets and take them off, unless he's a complete douche.

Someone being polite and considering the needs of others?

You know what that is:

You couldve gotten his attention without touching him... the gym is the last place I would want to fight anybody and that's knowing there are no shortage of muscle heads to break up a fight if it starts. Some douchebags just wait till you leave the squat rack and jump right in, its a valid option if someone spends way too much time on one machine.
