That's his wife. She stayed with him till he died and gave him a bit of peace in his last days. He talks about her in Women and this specific incident is detailed in Hollywood.

I won't presume to comment on this. Hank was in his 60's and she was in her 30's. Draw your own conclusions.

Bukowski was an awesome writer, but he was fucked up in the head.

As evidenced by this video.

Ironically, that's what made his writing so awesome. Usually the way it goes.

Guy lived life on his terms truly "walked through the fire"...wrote non-stop...Black Sparrow published numerous books of his poetry years after his death....one of a kind..

“If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don't even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery--isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you'll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.” ---BUKOWSKI

I beg to differ. He was fucked up in the head before he was an alkie. Read his early writing.

Most alkies have other problems that lead them to alcoholism anyways.

Dumb ass for marrying her. If you ever find yourself arguing with your significant other like that you shouldn't be together.

You want to know the only thing you can assume about a broken down old man? It's that he's a survivor.

Cool video.

Bukowski was one of my greatest inspirations when entering adulthood. Inspired me to write a ton of poetry in my early 20s.

Sometimes his work encouraged me to let the dark side breathe though.
