Economic benefits attract males to female-dominated profession

Ryan McFarland never let gender stereotypes stand in the way of his decision to become a nurse.

He considers it "a manly job," a description he is happy to explain.

McFarland is a registered nurse at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, Tenn., where he has worked since graduation.

He helps make up the small percentage of male nurses, which has steadily, but slowly, been on the rise since the 1970s.

As of 2011, 9.6 percent of all registered nurses in the U.S. were male, according to a recent report by the U.S. Census Bureau. That percentage has tripled in three decades, from 2.7 percent in 1970.

"I guess my friends thought, since I played sports in high school, that I would take on a more manly job," McFarland said. "But this is a manly job. There are so many things in this field that aren't easy — most people don't have the stomach for it."

IF you get a masters in a nurse practitioner program, it takes way less time than becoming a doctor and in some states you can practice fairly independently ( in Oregon my primary health care provider had his own office and was an NP) California I think they have to work on-sire with a regular doctor, but at least you can still get a job.

Nursing school is pussy paradise. I have had both male and female nurses...I never considered the guys unmanly unless they were inherently that way (and a couple were).

The uni I just got into has a masters in nursing. Unfortunately, no undergrad course. I was at another uni for a semester that had a nursing school, and I can generally confirm that the nursing girls are the best in all ways. Nursing is a solid career choice for guys.

I work with a few male nurses which we refer to as Murses. Pretty cool cats. Its a stereotype that many of the dudes are gay. Most murses I have seen are pretty red pill and have got some decent game.

The pay is decent and gets better with overtime. I know an army murse that gets around 75k a year salary, with a 25k bonus every year.

I know many people in the medical field. Every single one has confirmed the fact that female nurses are aching for dick. Closet quickies are not rare from what I hear.

Ive worked with around 5 female nurses recently. All 5 were DTF. I was driving with one and she starting asking me personal questions within a few minutes of exhanging names. When did I lose my virginity? How many girls have I slept with? Is a one night stand slutty or ok for the female?

And in the medical field men normally hold the positions of power. These females nurses are used to taking orders from men and I assume feminism is rare in their ranks.

When I go back to school, I am seriously considering switching majors to nursing.

Apparently men are attracted the more technically demanding areas of nursing, so that male nurses tend to out-earn female nurses. Of course, this has been used by some to illustrate the unfairness of the male-female wage gap.

As a doctor who has worked with both male and female nurses, I'd like to say that I'd rather have 1 male nurse working with me than 10 female nurses.

Male nurses actually know what they are doing, have a team spirit, actually care about their patient's wellbeing, are capable of critical thought when it comes to patient care, take initiative and are fun to work alongside with.

Female nurses, besides being lacking the above masculine qualities, also always gravitate towards bitchiness at some point or other.

Health care in general would greatly benefit from fewer, if not zero, female nurses.

Slightly off topic, but as a doctor, would you say it's worth the extra years of study? The degree I'm moving into will allow me to enter into an MD (Doctor of Medicine) course providing I don't fuck up too badly. I know I might be looking a tad too far into the future, but would you have any recommendations to maximise the benefits of being a doctor, while minimising sacrifices I might have to make? Medicine is a field that interests me greatly, but I don't want to go into it, only to lose everything else in my life. I'm assuming, because you're here, that you have at least some life outside the industry. Also, do the female nurses put out to doctors?

Pareto principle applies to Doctors Dicking Nurses to an extreme even more so then general population. Most of the doctors are beta, scared of rules , regulations etc and too busy with study and workload. The doctors that I have seen with even a gram of game are shooting top-shelf medical pussy not just RN's in a barrel. I had a friend who had a Pussy on every floor of the hospital.

Any male RVF member entering nursing school would have a great chance at killing it in and around the nursing school as most of the other male RN's are rather feminine and there is not much competition to begin with. Architekt your questions can not be answered in one post, I will try to Simplify . Do it only if you love it and have passion for the field not for money. If money is your goal you better put your hours of hardwork else where.

yes , you can be a physician and still have life outside if you are living a life with minimal expenditure and have a lifestyle that fits what you make.

Where my real concern lays is whether I'll be able to look after myself - I'm of the belief that if you can't help yourself, you shouldn't be helping others. I don't want to be in a position where I'm responsible for other people's lives when my own is looking down.

Also, I should have worded that slightly differently (or asked a completely different question) - are nurses easier to deal with for doctors than say, a teacher, due to the proximity and contact time? Or is having a giant harem of nurses out of the question because they're all so close that they will inevitably start fighting? Yes it does in a way where you can game your co workers, X-Ray Technicians are again predominantly female heavy, but niches in Radiology like Interventional Radiology, Angiography, MRI suites etc are managed by Male X-Ray Techs. definitely on a lower totem pole then Nurses or Doctors but many other females in the hospital that you can mack your game on Physical Therapists, Pharmacy Techs, Respiratory Techs etc etc...

Yes again, you should be able to go to Gym 4-5 days a week, sleep enough to stay fresh but not during the training years. If you can, go for a Physician's Assistant. more prestige/money and you can do more and less lower level stuff. also have to go to school WAY less than a doc + less liability/stress.

cRNAs also make bank. (certified registered nurse anethestist)..like 200k a year+ i think in some cases.

go into aesthetics....nurse or PA who does botox and other filler injections. also game the patients as well...I know a few male nurses in aesthetic field and they pull rich milfs...hire them for help "after hours" or "home visits".

I hope not just b/c of women. That is a demanding job (wiping old men's asses, cleaning bed pans, getting bodily fluids like vomit on you, etc) to be doing if there aren't parts of it you truly enjoy.

If you really are interested go volunteer at a hospital first and see what kind of shit you have to do b/c many, if not most nurses have to earn their stripes in hospital or home care situations doing the worst work the other people don't want to do.

It's worth it if you like it for what it is. Residency is usually hard across the board but after that it can be alright. Lifestyle is what you make of it. Like many careers, you have control over this. In the beginning it's a balance of time and money. Later it can even out. There are some specialties that allow for a good amount of to free time even up front.

Yes female nurses do put out to doctors. There are entire threads about this. But this is not a good reason to get an MD.

You'd be surprised, a lot of people in hospitals would rather deal with men in upper management positions (for obvious reasons) for nurses.

I've heard other medical professionals that male nurses with a business background are fast tracked into management very fast. I know a couple of dudes doing this and snagging plum jobs.
