A teenage guy might face incarceration for posting some stupid stuff on his facebook. Freedom of speech in USA in doesn't exist now days or officials are abusing their power. In any shape or form that kid shouldn't go to jail since he didn't commit any crime, and yet he is in jail awaiting to be judged.

Are you implying that there's a universe in which this kid should have been incarcerated for this stupid joke?

The fact that he even could be is alarming.

a woman who came across the comment on Facebook failed to see the humor. She alerted police after realizing Carter lived near an elementary school. On February 13, a judge authorized a search warrant. A warrant for Carter's arrest came one week later,

Some stupid cunt read the comment. Cyber-stalked him and called the cops because he lived near a school. Unbelievable.

IT could technically go under the clear and present danger thing (i.e. yelling fire in a movie theatre) especially with all the school, movie threare, public place shootings/boston terrist thing still in the minds of most people. Heard about this two weeks ago. I think he should have gotten arrested, but later released after investigators checked him out and found no danger of him actually doing that thing he said on fb. holding him for this long and prosecuting him is a waste of time and resources.

Anyway, this is why you don't post stupid shit on facebook, or youtube. Some people have their full whole name on youtube, so if an employer googled their name, they find all the stupid shit they said on the internet. People who post their real full names online are not smart enough to check their privacy settings either.

First off, everyone lives near an elementary school.

Secondly, I think that a terroristic threat should have to be credible to be illegal. Not only is it clear that this kid was joking, they could also have investigated him beforehand -- warranted search of his place and internet activity -- to see if he has any illegal weapons, or if he has commented elsewhere online about plans to do something dastardly.

But no, a paranoid cyberstalker had to go and ruin his life. Way to go, America.

i don't think the post was even on facebook - it was in a LoL (league of legends) chat forum in response to another gamer baiting him.

if a full-day session on LoL of CoD (call of duty) was monitored, you'd have tens of thousands of teenagers put in jail.

this is a sick peversion of justice.

omega kid has been beaten and most likely sexually abused in jail. he's on suicide watch and facing 10 years if convicted.

It's pretty clear he was not serious. The fact that the cops can't tell the difference and the fact that some fucking piece of shit woman called it in bothers me more.

Fucking knee-jerk politics.

If he didnt say jk/ lol at the end I could see where some paranoid crazy would have a problem with it.....

I think its crazy hes locked up for it... now had he not said jk/lol I personally still wouldnt lock him up but I wouldn't think its as crazy someone did.

This is interesting because to me it seems like society is moving more and more towards a 'literal' society. The *only* thing that matters is the words coming out of your mouth or what you write, despite the fact that some studies show 93% of communication is non verbal.

A guy writes a stupid post on facebook and he cast as a potential murderer despite all the contextual cues indicating the exact opposite.

A naked women is rubbing herself against your cock but the word 'no' comes out of her mouth. She continues to pursue you but you could still be called a rapist. Proceed at your own peril.

Ive actually had that situation once. There was this one girl a year and a bit back and it took forever to fuck her. FINALLY we get it on (I think she was self conscious of my roommates hearing because she was super aggressive when they all went home for christmas break and we were alone).

Shes on top of me naked, her pussy is literally dripping wet, shes rubbing my dick against her clit and I'm not even touching her. She kept saying "no we shouldn't do this blah blah blah" She slides the tip in (shes not on b/c) so I say "lemme grab a condom" she hops off and just says no and starts putting on her pants" I grab one and hand it to her. She gets back on the bed and starts giving me a bj, puts the condom on then rides me. Had I done anything but what I did that shit would be classified as rape. Didn't "force" my dick in and I didn't "manipulate" her with my words. Just handing her a condom and letting her hamster work itself to exhaustion.

This kid was sent to a horrible place only because he is male.

While the woman who wrote this:

she is still free and probably will never go to such a horrible place
because everyone is afraid to report her
