I highly doubt that. Where did you stay, did you leave the touristy center where they´ll charge gullible tourists a ridiculous 30€ for a simple Wiener Schnitzel? A city like Vienna, with its vibrant culinary culture and long history of refined cooking, has more than enough to offer in terms of amazing, reasonably priced food. Don´t give others a bad impression of a place you obviously have no idea about.

Um, I live there man. There's plenty of good food. Its just that anything with real meat in it is automatically 20 euros or thereabouts. Here meat is vastly cheaper. Allowing you to eat the same things for less than half the cost.

I live in Vienna too, also been to Bratislava a few times. Yes, overall the food is cheaper in Bratislava, which is no surprise. Let´s just say the food in Vienna is more expensive (well, everything is), not worse. Never mind that you certainly have more variety in Vienna. And you can also get "real" meat for much less than 20€ in most places here. Just depends on where you go.

Try the bryndzové halušky they serve at Slovak Pub.

And then stopped at the pub in the courtyard of my hostel for a glass of wine, and got talked into a delicious 3 course lunch and 3 heaping glasses of wine for all of 6 euros total (I love being in with the locals and knowing their part of town as such. I can do the same at any of a dozen places up here. Th superintendant guy at my place as around by then and had him let me in, and now im stuffed to the gills, sexually satisfied yet again, and have a bottle of wine from ysterday in the fridge and 4th of july in which I will beckon the locals to get trashed with me ahead of me tonight. Tomorow I go home to vienna. (got some dates lined up). But I will definitely be back. The fuck me eyes on the street are worth it enough. In vienna they look a bit then look guilty about it. Damned catholic countries. Greek girl wants me to drug and party it up in the sub club with her friday night too........maybe we'll see.
