Ayia Napa, Cyprus

According to AskMen.com, this place is a single mans dream, taking the No.2 spot!

"Rivaling Ibiza's party reputation and surpassing it for its cultural integrity, Ayia Napa is a sociable single man's dream. There is nothing to do here but enjoy the sun, eat great Mediterranean food and dance the night away in one of the town's several nightclubs. It is a place where meeting beautiful women is not anticipated but expected by the male visitors.

Nissi Beach, the island nation's best, should be your first "macking" point, but make sure to gravitate to all parts of the village, including the more tame Paphos district. After experiencing these spots, it will be clear that Ayia Napa is a bachelor's dream come true.

Must-see: Ayia Napa's waterpark, which is the biggest of its kind in the region."

Anyone have insider info.?

haven't been there myself but from what i understand it mostly depends what time of year you go - there are certain periods when it's just people from eastern europe, other times when it's just scandi's and other times mostly brits - guess which period you should be avoiding [Image: smile.gif]

well I did for a while, a roommate got it so I skimmed more then a few, know thy enemy [Image: smile.gif] In fact I just couldnt believe how full of shit the ask a man corner or whatever it was called, that I figured out the head editor of cosmo's email, wrote a quite not nice email (yeah I had a lot of time on my hands then) about how stupid their guy was. They later asked me, and I ended up writing a small article for cosmo after she forwared my letter to the assist editor.... go figure.

and ask men is much better then cosmo, I retract my above statement.

Was there for weekend in a June a couple of years ago and here is my impression:

Average age is quite low, many 18-21 YO from countries like UK, Germany and Scandinavian. Not easy to score though had some make-outs with 9s or even 10s drunk girls.
There is one main area of parties and restaurants (which are quite good) which is also closed to the beach.

In general I would not recommend this spot too much, though it is not bad there are other places much better in terms of hooking up with girls.

I've never been but the rep in the UK is somewhat of a trashy resort over-run with the worst kind of drunken British tourists.

Yeah I have always stayed well away because this is what I've heard. I know a couple people who have been and said it's mostly hip hop and RnB clubs and a lot of drunken Brits.

Aya Napa has a rep for being full of Chavs its a proper council house heaven. If you have any interest in style or elegance then stay well away just the sight of the legions of scum who go there on Television makes me queasy.

Stayed there night before last.

It is low season so we (a GF of mine flew from England to see me for the weekend) managed to get a double room in a nice hotel near the beach for 15 euros each including air con, swimming pool and private bathroom.

A lot of places in terms of nightlife only open for the high season in the summer but a few places were busy. The busiest seems to be a place called Senior Frogs which I assume is a chain because I have been to places with the same name in South America.

The easy summary is to call it Essex on the mediterrean. For those who dont know the Essex chav culture, basically Essex is to London what New Jersey is to NY. If you have seen the 'Its a Jersey Thing' south park episode then you know what I mean.

We got coralled in off the street by a guy flyering and offering 'specials' to get people in the door. My girl got offered a free cocktail. I got offered a 2 shot 'special' which, after asking him the price 3 times, he said would cost me 5 euros so I guess I don't get a welcome drink because I have a penis.

A small beer inside was 5 euros so we just ordered her cocktail. I could not taste any alcohol in it. The music was lively dance music but the 'DJ' constantly talked over the music to get people to 'say aaaaaaaaooooooooo' and 'we love froggies'. If you are cringing at this point, I was too.

Other things of note were that the M to F ratio which was poor. Most of the girls there seemed to be paid dancers and that, although we only stayed for 1 drink, I witnessed 2 fights.

This place is on the main drag of the nightlife area which I can only imagine must be a warzone of fighting, vomiting and kebab wrappers during the high season in July-Aug.

As we were walking away the arguments seemed to be continuing on the street outside which scared the crap out of my girl. We found a decent quieter place off the main drag that did decent long island iced teas for 2.5 euro so we stayed there the rest of the night so it's not all bad but I think you get the general idea.

Any advice on where to stay? Not into the hostel scene unless I can get a private room.

Also, any new intel out there?

You have to stay in a hotel very close to the main beach. You have to look at trip advisor and book a room very early because all travellers want the same.
