HPV Vaccine

So I have a doctors appointment, and I'm pretty sure he's going to try and push me to get the HPV Vaccine. I'm not sure about it because it's relatively new and protects from sexually transmitted cancers (or something) and protects women more than men. It's been used on boys for 1 year and on girls for only three. The esteemed interwebs seems to say that HPV is pretty common, but holds not much threat for men other than they could pass it to partners. Also, coming from a conservative christian household, if I take the vaccine I need a reason that doesn't make it seem to my mom like I plan to sleep with lots of girls (obviously I do). What are your opinions on this?

It also protects you from oral cancer and genital warts. My doctor wouldn't give it to me as it's less effective if you've already been exposed to the disease, I think if you've had sex with 3 people to protected they won't give you the inoculation.

1. 75% of us will have one type of HPV virus in our body during our lifetime.
2. Most of the viruses is dealt with by the body itself over a period of 3-18 months.
3. HPV 6 and 11 causes the warts. These are not associated with cancer.
4. 10% of people carrying HPV viruses associated with cancer develop cancer. For guys, it`s cancer in your rectum, throat, penis and nose. It takes 10-30 years from the time you are infected that this can develop into cancer.
5. The vaccine has still not been researched enough to fully know if it works in the long run (will you need a re-boost for instance?) May I add we are talking about a pharmacy industry that will benefit economically from creating hysteria (just the same as the swine flu vaccine) The vaccine cost 360 dollars each, and you will need 3 shots. (Good piece of business that!!!)
6. Michael Douglas has recently told he was misquoted in that interview, and he never said he got cancer from oral sex.
7. Calm down.
8. Keep enjoying sex.

What your talking about is Gardasil. I was thinking about getting it myself up in Canada but they only give it out for free to chicks. If I were to pay to have it, the costs would be around $600+ for the 3 shots.

It protects against HPV 16,18, 6 and 11.

I looked into getting the vaccination because I was reading my friend's pick up book and he actually got a non permanent STD so then it freaked me out. The pictures...

If you get the shot then from what I understand, you'll be protected for 5 years.

Also, the vaccination does look like its safe from what I've read. Its not a dead virus they're injecting into you, its something to do with proteins that look like the virus. Don't quote me on that but thats a basic idea.

Honestly, if you can afford it I would get it. I'm a university student so money is tight. It defiantly would give me peace of mind especially if your travelling around.

HPV Vaccine

I was at the health district today and overhead a guy inquiring about the hpv vaccine. I was there to get some immunizations for work, so I asked about the hpv vaccine too. I asked the nurse whether is is advisable for me to receive it despite my health insurance not covering it. After seeing pictures of genital warts, learning that it could lead to penile cancer etc, and knowing I have a few more bang missions and many more years of sexual activity with multiple partners, I decided to get it right there and then. The cost is about $280 each shot. And you will need 3 shots (1st, after two months, then after 6 months) for lifetime protection. It is quite expensive. After I got home I am reading more about it and trying to determine if it I made the right decision or not. Maybe it was just an impulsive decision or maybe it could save me a lot of headache in the future.

I got my cock checked last week at the dick clinic and while the nurse was inspecting my junk I enquired about the HPV vaccine and she said that it’s $600 for the three shots unless you’re gay then it’s free. So I guess I could tell them I’m a fag and get it for free but I don’t know how I feel about that, socialized health care and all, when my day before the death panel comes they may use that against me.

I got it for free from a "friends and family "discount. It's worth it if you can get it for low/no cost.

Is it worth it? Maybe.. Worth keeping an eye on it at least.
