Yikes. He didn't last.

Let that be a lesson: watch your health and don't get overweight.

Crazy.

He always looked a lot older than his age.

I actually have a pretty funny/crazy James Gandolfini story from Vegas, but I have been saving that one if I ever write a book.

Damn. One of the best shows ever. Dude was only 51 and died of a heart attack. He was overweight. I wonder if that's the reason he died.

RIP Tony Soprano

I met him at my former job---seemed like a nice guy. He signed tons of autographs/shook everyone's hand at the airport. And he had a hot blond with him. I thought he was alot older. He must have been in his late 30s when he started that show.

At least he will be remembered for playing one of the most iconic television characters of all time. That places him in the highest elite of his profession, which is more than most of us will ever be able to say. Respect, well done and godspeed to you, Mr. Gandolfini.

RIP

That's a shocker. I'm really sad to hear this. He seems to young too. I would think he could survive a heartache at that age. RIP

He did always look a good 5 to 10 years older than he actually was. I think it was a combination of the fact that he was balding and overweight.

Way too soon; I think he still had many great acting roles left in him.

Besides the Sopranos I really enjoyed him in The Last Castle, 8mm, The Man who Wasnt There and just about anything else he did on screen.

One of the unfair things about human biology is that guys who look older also tend to get sick and die sooner. In a sense, they don't just look older, they *are* older than their years.

They've done studies and even among twins, the younger-looking sibling ends up living longer.

Beware high blood pressure. Almost no symptoms. I ignored it for years. One little vessel pops and you can be done.

Wow, he's only a year older than I am. The Soprano's is one of my favorite shows ever, I've watched the entire series one episode after another at lest 4 or 5 times. He was great as Tony Soprano but he was always good no matter what the movie. It's a sad day...RIP

This is the culmination of many years of poor diet and little exercise. Heart attacks are all too common these days. I just heard my old boss from Macy's got a treadmill last week and had a heart attack, died on the spot.

He played the role perfectly. Surprised he didn't have many other high-profile gigs thrown at him at "Sopranos" ended. RIP.

Yeah, for sure.

I remember reading an article about him when Sopranos first started. He was like 35 years old or something but looked 45 years old or more.

Looks like he is not really sweating it here though:

Not big on Drake but his line is fitting here: "Everybody dies, but not everybody lives."

Is it better to live balls to the wall and die 'young' such as James, Steve McQueen (50) and James Dean, or to live 'safe' and grow old in a retirement home?

I'll take hard living and whatever happens happens. Kind of makes me want to get obliterated drunk tonight, smoke a cigar at the Grand Havana Room in BH and fuck a new girl raw tonight in honor of these cats.

The first movie I noticed him in was True Romance. A precursor to his Tony Soprano role.

Solid. I feel reckless, too. Weird feeling.

The quote was used in Braveheart -- if you don't want to mention Drake (I had to google Drake, I hadn't heard of him).
