this album is weird as hell and that's coming from big fan. i think that as a persona/status he's so above and beyond rap competition [beside eminem of course] that just doesn't care about thing that other rappers care. he just wants to go all out with his ideas no matter how weird.

he didn't even promoted the album. there was no front cover [that golden shit was fake]. there were no singles released to radio or anywhere. no video clips cause "at this point, when I listen to radio, that ain't what I wanna be no more". no pre order on itunes [at first it was available but it was quickly taken down]. about a month before release date he performed two songs on SNL and unveiled one song through video projections in sixty-six assorted locations. official tracklist was confirmed only a week before release date. it feels like not a single fuck was given creating yeezus. cool place to be in, huh?

Rick Rubin even said there was 48 hours til the album was due and five songs were missing vocals. Kayne responded with, "it's okay I'm about to score 40 in the 4th quarter." Haha.

Kayne been one of my favorite rappers. He's articulate and he does not give a fuck. A lot of people don't like him because he called out George Bush and fucked with Taylor Swift.

He's just speaking his mind which seems to be a lost art form lately.

LOL. It is as if Kanye Haters wish he would just loop soul and make simple drum patterns for the rest of his life.

Seriously, if you want the same packaged material over and over again, do yourself a favor and listen to Kesha.

Album is legit. Industrial rock meets hip hop. It is dark, in the Nine Inch Nails sorta way..sometimes better other times not as potent. The crescendos are high with accompanying lyrics that challenge the audience. It is not as polished as his Dark Fantasy album, but it is darker...more a nightmarish existence of an egotistical hedonist with unlimited potential to fulfill his desires. Also, the sounds are really cool, like...if you are a nerd for sounds (count me in) you will be amazed. I love the shit he creates, shit that stays in the logos for eons.

I would say that it is not an album for the masses as it is too out there to be mainstream. I would be super surprised if it wins a grammy. Then again, they rather give the award to the fat white chick that moderately resembles a black woman singing rather than a critique on the superficial lifestyle of the United States that rivals the Great Gatsby in terms of artistic excellence. But I digress.

Kanye is legit. Let the haters hate. Yes he is a dick but this dick has BALLS!

Kanye did amazing work on Common's album Be by the way. Definitely check that out, to all the hip hop heads on here.

808s was his best album. I still listen to it frequently. I think his ego does prevent him from making music that a mere commoner like me can enjoy.

Yeezus is good but it doesn't top MBDTF, then again no one ever expected him to. My favourite songs so far are New Slaves, Black Skinheads and Blood on Leaves (the TNGHT sample is epic).

People say Kanye has "haters" because the things they say are so petty and/or aren't based in reality. He has a huge ego? Came up as No ID's protege. Busted his ass producing hit records for Jay-Z, Ludacris, Alicia Keys. Produced Talib Kweli's debut solo album. Yet people still wouldn't let him rap on a track. Finally got his shot and recorded his debut single with his mouth wired shut. Platinum solo album after platinum solo album, progressing and changing his sound with each release. Meanwhile managed to continue producing hit after hit for other artists and multiple albums for fellow Chicago native Common. Now, suddenly, an underground rapper who had been in the game for over a decade has albums being sold in Starbucks.

Kanye had Rhymefest and Consequence videos being played on TV. Did I mention John Legend, Big Sean, the reemergence of Pusha T? Ye opened the door for and helped launch the career of so many artists. Remember the sales battle with 50 Cent? Look no farther than Fif if you want a frame of reference for the longevity of Mr. West. He's released 6 platinum albums and fully produced two Gold albums for Common while being heavily involved with 2 more platinum albums (John Legend and Jay) over an 8 year period with Yeezus and the album he produced for Big Sean due in 2013. Wow how dare this guy have an ego.

But after a few more listens I'd rate it as one of the best albums of the year.

From a purely hip hop perspective Twisted was better, from a purely hip hop perspective it's not even one of the 'top 5' albums this year.

But from an alternative/acid/industrial/80s electro house perspective, this is legendary stuff.

I'm wasn't a big Kanye fan either, I thought/still think college dropout and graduation are rubbish.
