So the situation is that I have a relatively nice girl (read not hot) that's interested in me. She's great on paper, but i'm not feeling her.

The manual says you have to initiate the hard close (don't call me anymore), which is what i'll do.

However going back to the days when I didn't know what to do with girls, I remember being overly nice and into them was a sure fire way to drive them away.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being "nice", I think people automatically think "nice" means "wussy". I know of nice dudes that do just find with girls. They may not be the badboy banging 3 new girls a week, but they find nice girls that are good for them. I think as long as you know how to be a real man, stand your ground, and don't take shit from anyone, you can be nice to her, but it's important for her to see that you don't take shit from other men. Girls like a guy that is nice to her, but shows he can dominate other men and be an alpha male. A guy that's nice by CHOICE, not by necessity. I think something like that can work fine.

You missed what I was saying.

Being a wuss/nice whilst in a relationship is a way to drive her away little by little.

Can you use beta tactics to de-escalate something you started as an alpha?

Inconvenient. If she sees you as an alpha, this new taste of beta will take way too long to sink in. Besides, it'll leave her bitter and resentful in the end. Dish out the truth, wish her well and run. Or start a thread on creative break-up ideas
