Britains premier classy rag (which most of us nonetheless browse online), brings us this gem:

They're pictures of weekly family groceries from various countries. Some interesting details in some of the pictures.

Such as the mexican family, would be super healthy, if they didn't knock back litres of coke.

And of course the American and Canadian families who clearly rely heavily on processed foods.

Props to the german who is clearly unapologetic over his booze intake.

Jesus, look at the offerings from Britain, the US and Australia compared to the rest of the world. Go Anglosphere... Impressed by Japan, it's no wonder they all live so long.

The question is: which country more closely resembles your diet?

For me it seems to be France:

Breads, cheeses, yogurt, juice, nuts, dark chocolate, fruits, vegetables... not too much packaged goods. I don't know what kind of meat they have though

I think probably the Polish diet is what I aim to eat. Lots and lots of vegetables, I could eat carrots, broccoli and cauliflower all day. What a fascinating article anyway. That German dude is awesome.

This high rated comment echoes my thoughts:

I sure miss German cooking. For me it was mostly alcohol with enough food to stave of death. I think I never spent more than thirty euros a week on actual food. Great thread.

I feel like I am somwhere between the German and Italian diets. I love spinach, broccolli, and other colorful fruit and vegetables. Put I also eat alot of noodles, fish, cheese, and chicken.
