Left handed guitarists?

Left handed guitarists?

I recently decided to take up the guitar, but in my area, i cant seem to find any left handed guitarists to take pointers from. I was just wondering if anyone out there is left handed and can play guitar, and if they could give me any pointers? Its kinda hard doing the self learning route, since there is very little in terms of resources for lefties.

yes there are some, but after i wanted some input from someone who has tried it before. Since there are many styles of lefthanded play.

I am a lefty and do play the guitar left-handed. What kind of pointers would you like to hear? Where to learn to play the guitar lefthanded? Easily answered: Go get a teacher. It doesn´t matter if he´s right-handed or left-handed. Learning to play without a teacher is far more difficult than without. If your not BB King, that is.

the advice im looking for mainly would be is it easier to just turn a standerd guitar upside down, or should i just restring it so the strings are in reverse order?

If you're left-handed, you should buy a left-handed guitar. Everything else is exactly the same.

I looked, i cant find them anywhere in china, and the prices are insane for custom made or imported models, and i dont want to drop that much money on a practice guitar.

It is up to you. If you restring it, it would be easier for you to learn, but you will not be able to play a regular guitar. This may put you into disadvantage in a situation where a guitar is there but you cannot play it.

In that case, it depends how seriously you want to take guitar. From my observation, lefties who play right-handed struggle with their technique.

But if you just want to learn to play some simple songs and chords (i.e., you're more of a singer), then you can get away with it. On the other hand, if you want to be wailing like Eddie Van Halen or Slash in a year, then you need to string it upside down.
