January, Someone in Medellin?

Hi, ill go to Medellin in January for 3 weeks. I go on a business travel, but I'm sure ill have a lot of free time in the afternoons and nights and I'm decided to use it properly. Ill rent a studio in poblado and a car to make sure logistics are good enough. I think could be even better to have one wingman. Im from Madrid(Spain) so no need to say that my spanish is good. Im 33y.o., 6,5 feet tall and good looking. So if someone of you will be there in january feel free to send me a message and we can plan to game there in Medellin and other cities around Medellin.

Check out the "meet up" section. That's where we post when we'll be in which cities for forum members to meet up.

I may be there around January 15th or so. Trying to decide right now. I'm sure things slow down after New Years eve so you would have to wait for it to pick up there. shoot me a text

Have any of you guys flown with Vivacolombia before? I"m booking flights soon for a group of friends (Bogota-Medellin return) and Vivacolombia has the best rates. I've flown with Avianca and Copa before and was happy with the service, but never heard of Vivacolombia before.

Vivacolombia is a low cost carrier. They are really strict on dimensions of baggage and weight. Be sure to read the fine print or you may need to pay excess baggage fees at the last minute.

The Medellin-Bogota flight is a short hop, only 45 minutes. With Avianca you'll be offered a small cup of Coke or a juice box. Vivacolombia will sell you a snack if you want it.

The advantage of Avianca is they have so many departures daily on that route. Vivacolombia is normally on time, but when a flight is delayed you may be waiting around for three hours while they adjust their schedule. On Avianca they would just shift you seamlessly onto an identical flight leaving half an hour before or after.

Thanks Tigre great Colombia info as usual, I'll probably go with Avianca to avoid any headaches, my experience with low cost 3rd world carriers hasn't been a great one!

Are the viva colombia planes small and rickety? or are they like large jets?

apparently you can't book a vivacolombia flight with a foreign credit card http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/th...ID=2323352

You basically have to call in to book a flight with viva colombia.

http://www.vivacolombia.co/co/dondecomprar.htm

The problem is, I don't understand how to call phones in colombia yet, unless they have the full area code, which they don't put on the site.

Yeah, I can second this. You get two checked bags and a carry-on/personal item included on Avianca, even on that short route. And their prices are pretty good, too, if you book in advance. I also got to the airport kind of early from BOG to MDE one time and the lady at the counter just asked, "Do you want to go on the next flight?" (There was one before the one I was scheduled for, like Tigre said, they're leaving all the time.) So I hopped on that one instead.

Tenerife, just go into any random travel agency and buy the ticket there, they should be able to help you out. I've had bad experiences booking online in several countries and still go to travel agencies, in person and pay cash.

you guys know BALOTO ? you can easily pay the flight tickets for Viva Colombia there.. some tiendas (or even liquor stores) do this kind of business with baloto..just ask..
Viva Colombia is not worse than Avianca.. they just dont give you free drinks during the flights (which you dont need since the distance is very short) and are strict about the baggage.. well its in no way worse than Ryanair or sth. like that..
