Has anyone tried using Facebook or Twitter to look for parties?

I mention this in the Sobe thread and wanted to get feedback from forum members who might not read that thread.

Basically, with everything these days posted up on Facebook or tweeted on Twitter, there can be solid info online about what's going on party-wise for a particular city and this info can be found in real-time. Just have to search for it.

Has anyone tried to search the Events section of FB for parties? Or use Twitter to find out where the good parties are in real-time by searching for trending tweets for the keyword or tag "#party" for a particular location. I don't use twitter so I don't know how to do this, but it might be a golden move, especially for traveling players like us who are new to a city and only have a couple of days to get up to speed on the scene, so to speak.

This works extremely well, but only if you're connected to a lot of people in a given city.

I actually think that if the most 'connected' nightlife/events guys in the top 100 cities around the world got together to share all the events they knew about, you'd have people clamoring to get access to that real-time party feed.

So most info is set to 'private' or for view by friends or friends-of-friends? Isnt twitter tweets all public?

It would be great getting an 'in' on that real-time party feed. But getting these guys together would be like herding cats, so to speak. Besides, their info is already up online somewhere. Just have to 'mine' it and organize the feed. I've heard of people following the tweets of models or pornstars so find out what they're doing that night. It's a bit stalker-ish though.
