Help for London

For a long time I've been planning to move to London, which will finally happen soon (early May).

I've done lots of research and I had decided that I would rent something for the first week while I saw shared flats and eventually choose one to settle.

But meanwhile I got a job prospect for Dublin and I will be interviewed somewhen in middle May. That means that I cannot already go for a compromise in a flatshare (everybody looks for at least a 3 month contract).

I decided to look for a 3 week short let room in Central London or somewhere close to it. But as anything in London, prices are through the roof. I want to keep my budget tight, at least until I get a job. So I've been hitting all the short term rentals sites like Airbnb, Wimdu, Roomorama, RoomPaddy, etc.

And I've been negotiating very hard, and the best offer I got until now was £612 for 3 weeks, which means £204 per week for a room in a flat located between Maida Vale and Lisson Grove which comes with all the amenities that I need (including access to kitchen).

Being cheap as fuck, but having my own standards (no way I'm gonna sleep in dormitories, shared rooms, or in couches), I'm still looking for something better, so I decided to hit my last chance: the RooshVForum Brotherhood. Therefore, if any of the London fellas know any way or anyone who can make me a even better deal than £612 for a 3 week stay in a private room in Central London (or near), please say here in the thread or by PM.

All ideas and tips from London players will be welcome.

Fresh update. I just received a better offer in Airbnb: £150 per week for a room in West Kensington.

Private bedroom in a 3 bedroom flat with heating and shared bathroom. The host allows me to cook in the kitchen and wash clothes once a week. I think she is desperate to get her first review on Airbnb. That or she is a nymphomaniac fat spinster who has been reading "Fifty Shades of Grey".[Image: dodgy.gif]

Be careful, sounds almost too good to be true. Very cheap.

Have you spoken to her on the phone and verified, etc?

I will. Thanks for your advice, chaps.

If I stay in London after these first weeks, I'll have to find a long term flatshare. From my research the best website is Spareroom.co.uk and the events they organise (speedflatmating.co.uk) seem also to be a good way of get it. Do you have any advice on the best ways to find flatmates in London?
