I used to love sweets. Now I hardly like the taste. I just eat them when I have a need for sugar and fat.

Meat, eggs, potato, fried rice, refried beans, a good salad. I prefer all of those to sweets now.

I don't have a big sweet tooth. But if I am eating something sweet I like off the charts rich and indulgent stuff like like tarts and squares.

Supposedly Butter Tarts are only Canadian and only show up in places like the UK.

They are more rich then sweet I guess but I love them.

I like deserts with dates and figs in them too. To me a date or a fig is the perfect amount of sweetness I like. I like to snack on figs, that's like a desert/treat to me.

^^ These Nanaimo Bars above are another Canadian classic. All our traditional deserts are no frills and basic as hell but they aren't to sweet I like them a lot.

In Austrian, "Germknodel" literally translates to "Semen and molly covered breast of virgin".

The filling of the Germknödel is actually called Powidl, which is a slightly different thing than jam or marmalade, as it´s made without adding sugar or gellants.

Any hint of what will replace it?

I think we may have our answer:

CLOVER, Va.—Prodded by the largest U.S. hummus maker, farmers in the heart of tobacco country are trying to grow chickpeas, an improbable move that reflects booming demand for hummus.

"We need to establish the supply chain to meet our growing demand," says Sabra's chief technology officer, Tulin Tuzel. "We want to reduce the risk of bad weather or concentration in one region. If possible, we also want to expand the growing seasons."

Long a staple of Middle Eastern cuisine, hummus is earning a growing following among Americans seeking more-healthful snacks. The chickpea dip is low in fat and high in protein. Sales of "refrigerated flavored spreads"—a segment dominated by hummus—totaled $530 million at U.S. food retailers last year, up 11% from a year earlier and a 25% jump over 2010, according to market-research firm Information Resources Inc.

I honestly love the shit. There's a Middle Eastern market that I frequent that makes great hummus that is loaded with cumin. I have noticed that grocery stores here in California have gone from one or two types of hummus to four foot display areas in the refrigerated sections in just the last couple of years.

At this point it just seems like you need to find some sort of food item that hasn't been put through the whole "hand crafted, locally sourced, artisian" ringer. It literally does not matter what it is at this point. As long as it's over priced, the primarily female customers will think it's worth it.

These places are just selling ego strokes.

What else would you sell? Everything else is being manufactured in China. I've seen people make actual crafts, cool knives, etc. but making a bunch of cupcakes requires a fraction of the time, skill and start-up capital than working with metal.

Finally some good news. But you gotta have it like we do, hummus 'ful', with some hot paprika, tehini, and plenty of olive oil.

Or use it to put out fires or brush your teeth.

Extra tehini, or just what you had put into the hummus(as a dip, not the plain chickpeas)?

I load the top of my hummus with Spanish smoked pimento(better paprika imo), olive oil, and usually pine nuts.

I also love making hummus fatteh with Lebna too.

Good, this is was the dumbest shit ever. The fucking wraparound lines outside of Georgetown Cupcake on the weekends make me nauseated.

Just look at what kind of shape these people are in.

Juice bars are getting pretty big in L.A. There are 3 within a short walking distance from my place.

Are juice bars blowing up in the rest of the country?

Juice bars have been going nuts here for a while with companies like Boost Juice leading the charge. Sumo Salad's also killed it too, they cleaned up big time.

I have never seen a queue for a regular shop with regular goods here in Europe. Can't this people make better and cheaper cupcakes at home? The ingredients are cheap as hell. water, sugar, flour, eggs, milk?. some shitty topping.

Yeah man, Labane (goat cheese) is the truth.

Haven't tried it with pimento, just use lots of tehini (dip). Good call on the pine nuts too. Throw a boiled egg in and you're all set.

My hummus looks something like this:

DC is currently being infested with an endless amount of beer and burger places. Which is normally not a problem, because I love both of these things. It doesn't affect me because I'm not a fucking pig and I work out.

But these 'average' white girls? Gonna get even fatter.
