46 homicides in Baltimore City as of 3/20/13

http://data.baltimoresun.com/homicides/

The vast majority of violent crime is drug dealers vs other drug dealers in the shit sections of East and West Baltimore. If you are coming to Fed, Canton, Fells, Powerplant, etc, your chances of having a problem are next to nothing. You have a higher risk of injury/death from a car accident on the drive here.

Fed Hill in particular is safe, because it's surrounded by water on 3 sides and the harbor to the North. For people from "hood" areas to come into the city, they have to come through downtown and exit pretty much the same way they came in. Just doesn't happen.

Why do you guys think Baltimore declined so much? After all, the colleges are still kicking.

I'm curious as to how a city's talent can rise and fall.

Generally agree with HC about not even thinking about the place. I just can't see myself driving to Bmore for girls, esp mid week. More power to those that do. I do agree that their attitude is better than DC girls.

I live here and I'm not entirely sure myself. Anyone else can feel free to disagree with me, but I lived here since 2006 and I just feel like the talent pool has taken a turn for the worse in the past 2 years. As stated, I'm of the opinion that the decline of the under 21 scene/college nights has a chilling effect on an entire city, not just the specific bars. Lots of place have been closed down due to violations, and everyone else is tougher on IDs than in the past. I never went to Mist, but I think that has been changed to Baltimore Soundstage and is more of a live music place now, could be wrong. Iguana Cantina - yeah they closed after a lot of violations and tried to re-open as an "upscale rum bar" which failed. Bourbon Street had a ton of violations, but I think one of the final nails in the coffin was supposedly 17 year olds showing their tits to Girls Gone Wild. They were cleared on it but the stigma remained in the media and after that the liquor board was just circling them like a vulture).

Even if bars just get tougher on IDs it can have a chilling effect. I know this from experience with bouncing - we had to get tough on IDs at one point at the bar I worked at because we were feeling the heat. We used to be known as the place that wasn't hard to get in (I was the one carding, and half the time I'd be drunk as shit). Word spreads fast, lo and behold, not as many hot girls.

The economy probably deserves mention too. In 06-07 when I bounced in Towson, we would charge $5 bucks a head and pack the place no problem. A few of the other bars charged covers too. Economy started to tank in 08, by 09, nobody was even thinking about charging covers anymore. I'm guessing allowance money probably declined, especially at a 2nd tier state school like Towson. College kids stay in more, don't shell out for cabs as much = not as many youngins in the scene = the 22-26+ hot girls feel a lot more secure and start slacking in their game and stuffing their faces, etc.

Even Loyola had a designated "freshman bar" in Fells Point on Friday nights that is now closed. I heard about it from some Loyola grads, I didn't believe them. They took me there one night, sure enough every girl in there was young as shit, I couldn't believe it, and the line was around the block. It was owned by a retired cop so the BPD didn't mess with them. Even that is place is closed now, it got sold.

I really like these 2 spots in Fells point, Bond Street Social and The Horse you came in on Saloon. Bond Street Social http://www.bondstreetsocial.com/ on the weekends is filled with people dressed up, men in suits, women all dolled up in cocktail dresses and high heels. Lots of 7s here and the occassional 8. The crowd looks pretentious but it's quite easy to have a conversation here and there are lots of single girls around. The average age is around mid-late 20s though.

The Horse you came in On is across the street from this place and is a little dive bar which has live music pretty much everytime. This is my go to place when all else fails especially at 1 am when you find some horny chicks hanging around the band. The quality is lesser mostly in the 6-7 range but worth trying out.

I couldn't think of the name of the venue until you said it. Bond Street is the real deal. Well dressed, hot chicks, friendly, etc.

I was Baltimore last May to check out the Preakness with some of my boys and chase chicks. My boy had a real nice apartment in Fells Point where I stayed and I must say I was VERY surprised by the amount of fun I had and the city (Fells Point at least) gets a big thumbs up from me.

Going to the liquor store to get booze to pregame on the first night we pulled 4 chicks immediately back the apt to pregame with us like it was nothing. Had a real hottie going out of the bunch but I could never even find time to see again over the course of 3 days with all the other girls we met and partying etc, it was really pretty wild.

Ended up meeting chick on the bus hauling you back to the parking lot of the Preakness and her friend. Two college girls and me and my boy ended up making out with them in about 5 minutes. I hung with her the rest of the night and shitfaced later in the evening I saw a pimped out yacht (I think in Fells Point but not sure) which had low lounge music coming out of it and weird lighting and decided to walk aboard with her (I have used this move before successfully but it takes some skills to be able to pull off the first encounter). Didn't see anyone right away but saw a bar and poured her and I each a drink. We are sitting in the galley chatting and some weird 80's porn star dude comes upstairs and also acted just like we belonged. He was like "Enjoy, I hope you guys are having as good a night as us." He left us alone and went back downstairs.

This was about a 70-80 foot yacht tied right to where the street meets the ocean. I take her on the bow of the boat and we are fooling around. I hoist her onto the windshield which has a little ledge on it and fool around some more. I pull her skirt up and panties to the side and start banging her on the front of this yacht with my ass to the wind and her ass on the glass. I see the guy come back upstairs to pour a drink and he just gives me a thumbs up from inside as he sees her ass getting pounded away!

Before leaving, I tell her we have to go down and thank them for being so hospitable. She agrees with no hesitation. We go downstairs and there is one dude on the bed in his underwear with a topless mid 40's cougar flanked to each side and the weird porn star looking dude just watching. Fuckin' weird scene but of course just played it cool. One of the girls immediately comments on how nice my girls tits are and tries to drag her into the mix as well. My girl is a young 22yo college girl but really plays the whole situation real smooth while most college chicks would probably lose it with these freaks. She politely declines and we leave back to the apartment to finish the job in a bed rather than on a windshield.

The next day we go to some daytime scene by the water which has a big outside patio facing the harbor, sand on the ground, etc. They basically did a cheesy rendition of trying to recreate some Hawaiian beach scene. I don't remember the name but it had chicks and they played good music I remember. We are flirting with the waitress who is a really hot 23yo single mom and my boy ended up pulling her # and banging her 3 or 4 days later. She wanted to leave with us then but couldn't because of her kid.

At Bond Street social I met a lot of cute to hot girls who were well dressed and fun to be around. The one that comes to mind were these two tall hot blondes who I opened and started chatting with. I thought I liked one but then I realized the other was way hotter so switched over. Chatted with them, got info and met them in the infield the next day at the Preakness. Hung with them and pulled the GMan move where everyone wants to be with the winner and we really were winners. I don't know shit about horse racing but we managed to pick LOTS of winners and made a nice stack of cash. Dragged the chick over with me to watch the races unfold live and watch me "win". Made out with her and basically sent her back to her friends. Kept in touch via fb and actually she just hit me up when she was in LA about 2 months ago and we went out one night to Bodega Wine Bar in SM and the deal was sealed after. This was one of those bangs that never would of happened without fb and her seeing me traveling and doing all kinds of interesting shit over the course of the year.

Overall, I thought Baltimore was great and the Fells Point area was very nice. Good bars, restaurants, outdoor scene, etc.

I know DC is close by, and I imagine DC guys come here fairly often, so there should be other posters with some input. My friend who lives here said girls in DC are hotter, for whatever that's worth.

DC people don't even think about Bmore. Straight up. Two entirely different worlds. There's really no reason for a DC person to go up there. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to that city. They are like 45 minutes apart but completely different. Baltimore has a very blue-collar and industrial sort of feel while DC is white-collar professional. It's also much cheaper than DC. Many parts of the city are dangerous. You pretty much hung out in the one decent neighborhood in the whole city.

The inner harbor is nice in the day time but once it gets dark even that area can be a little dodgy.

Also, Bmore people don't really like DC. They identify more with New York, especially the people in the poorer areas. Lots of NYC people relocate there. Those cities have a strong connection in the drug trade. Both are port cities, unlike DC.

I meet Bmore girls in DC every now and then and they always complain about living there. They say how much more there is to do in DC, how much better the nightlife and people are and how international and open-minded the city is.

I don't hate on Bmore but that's just what people in DC would tell you if you ever asked them about it.

There's more than one decent neighborhood in that city. I do, however, agree with you on Baltimore and DC residents not thinking about each other even though they are so close--partly because they are two completely different towns. Baltimore is a typical blue collar city that's trying to shift to more service industries, DC is the nations capital and a world city so it's a bit unfair to compare the two from that standpoint. Very very very different cities, cannot stress this enough, Baltimore also does identify much more with cities such as Philadelphia and New York. But, when it comes to getting girls and having ONS, I would be comfortable in saying Baltimore is probably a bit better. The bar scene, particularly in Federal Hill, Canton, Fells Point, even Downtown is pretty fucking live. From my understanding there aren't many clubs in Baltimore, and all the 20 somethings pack the bars on the weekends. A TON of recent college graduates move to Baltimore and work at the places like T Rowe Price, Legg Mason, Morgan Stanley and kids who go to school at UMM, etc.

During the summer there's mobs of girls at Orioles games, most of them are in their 18-late 20's. (Go on a friday--student ticket night, college girls galore). After these games the bars get filled up, partly because Baltimore isn't nearly as spread out as DC is so geographically there isn't a ton of places to go (M street out west, U street, H street, whatever the fuck letter street). And nationals Stadium is practically in the middle of fucking nowhere, and as a ballpark it fucking sucks--but that's another story.

Girls have less bitch shields in Baltimore as well, because to be frank, they aren't that bright (for the most part), they aren't working on the hill, blowing a lobbyist, studying law at georgetown, or working at some prestigious non-profit where they're "changing the world." They don't have that sense of entitlement that somehow eventually comes over every girl who came to study in DC and pursue a career here. By no means am I trying to make out Baltimore as some pussy paradise, it still is a piece of shit city, its dirty, crime and gang infested, the suburbs of Baltimore are trash. Also, I would stay away from Baltimore during the winter, the football fans are obnoxious and probably even more-so after the superbowl. Baltimore also isn't very diverse, it's very much just white or black. But overall, for getting laid, I think Baltimore is better than DC. Just my .02.

I strongly agree about the Towson Town Center and I forgot to mention that. Another place worth checking out for happy hour and early in the evening is Bill Bateman's Bistro in Towson. It's not right on the Towson University campus like some of the other venues which were mentioned, but it's close by.

One thing to keep in mind about Roosh coming to Baltimore back in the day - there was a much more thriving 18 to get in 21 to drink scene until a couple years ago. I think Roosh even mentions Hammerjacks in Bang, which later converted to Bourbon Street, and is now shut down completely. That place....how I miss it. It was gigantic building 3 levels, and the top level was a tiki bar which was cool for isolation. When Bourbon was still around, several of my boys from DC would make the drive up to slay Towson / Loyola girls that went there on Thursday nights. They would drive back to DC at 3/4am and they had to work at 8am the next day. These are guys with serious jobs at government contractors- Delloitte, SAIC, Northrup Grumman etc and they came up on mid-week Bmore bang missions on the regular because the girls were that DTF. But since Bourbon has closed the 18-21 scene is dead now in Bmore, unless there's a new spot.

Is there any place with a decent college night in the city right now? I remember years ago, Bohager's was the place. A lot of people really didn't like the crowd there, but the truth is that it had great volume and drew all walks of life. It was something ridiculous like a $5.00 open bar every Thursday including imported beer and many other things. Iguana Cantina later replaced it somewhat as did Hammerjacks/Bourbon Street. Iguana Cantina keeps changing its name. It was called Mist and now it's called something else. Does anyone know if there is still a college night there?

I think soundstage is the new place for college night (Right across from Power Plant Live)

I suppose it may be worth a visit now that it is only $7 for a ticket to Baltimore via the new MARC service starting tomorrow between DC and Baltimore: http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/traf...tory.html. I don't know jack about the bars reviewed by Fritz Hahn (he seems like a dirty hipster): http://www.washingtonpost.com/goingoutgu...tory.html, but he posted a short write-up. You can also drink on the MARC train on your way there: http://mta.maryland.gov/advisories/alcoh...rc-trains.

I am a little surprised there has been no mention of Hampden. It's small, but there are a few good bars and it seems to attract a young, albeit hipsterish, crowd compared to the other areas. Worth checking out imo, for daygame too.

I never spent a lot of time there, but other than the places I mentioned, that's probably your best bet. Back when I was a broke law student, there was a chinese buffet in or around Hampden which was really cheap and surprisingly good. It still exists, but I heard it is a shadow of its old self.

Wow- love that Bourbon Street was mentioned here. Went there Halloween night in 2009, wild fucking night. Such a shame they've shut down.

Baltimore is a really fun place. Seems like most people so far prefer DC but I've gotta say, it's good to have a very different option so close by when you need to get GFTO of the DMV for a weekend.

Anyone been to Mosaic tucked away in the back of PowerPlant Live? I've seen some serious talent there. It can get pretty rough there though. Friend of mine saw a stabbing out on the patio area about 3-4 years ago.

Mist, a club outside but adjacent to Powerplant used to be fun, it has since closed its' doors though.

Mother's during a Raven's homegame is guaranteed good times. I don't even really follow football and I still loved it.

Overall I'd say B'more is definitely worth a weekend trip. There are packs of undergrad/grad school girls wandering around- a great deal of them go to UMBC so you can make fun of their alma mater ("U Made a Bad Choice") which always gets laughs.

Don't get me wrong, there are so, so many things wrong with this city-rampant crime and poverty (take the Amtrak to or from the city and it's like passing through Stalingrad circa 1945), there is also a huge hipster population there, (unless you're in to that, then by all means, game on). Last call is also 2 compared to DC's 3am.

But in spite of all that, I can't help but like that city. Living in the vortex of self-important, khakis & button-down SWPL yuppieness that is the DC area, Baltimore's grittier, down to earth vibe really is a breath of fresh air to me.

Newer spot in Fed Hill you guys may want to consider if you are in town: Banditos. Next to Mad River. It's smaller but drinks are cheap and I think it's probably one of the best sources of talent in Fed Hill now (that says a lot less than it used to, but I digress), and also the youngest crowd. I will forwarn you that it closes at 1:00am. Most of the crowd goes to Mad River after that. Also, Cowboys & Rednecks can have some decent talent if you can tolerate the country music. Depends on the night.

Places to Avoid: For higher-percentage I would be wary of Mothers outside of Purple Patio/Game days. Or Magerks. Or Ropewalk. Not saying don't go there, just go in with the right mindset- this shit ain't NYC. There will be fattie-grossos so you have to wade through the blubber to find the attractive chicks and not let it get you down/sap your energy. I think even Stalking Horse is tough these days compared to when I first got here. They expanded it so there's with lots of room to move around, but the last few times I've gone I've been worried that the building was going to collapse from all the land-whales. I'm probably just jaded from living in Fed for so long. It's such a big bar you are bound to find something in there. Also if you are gaming a chick and you are trying to ditch her friends, Stalking Horse may be an decent play because there's so many different rooms/floors and two DJs/dancefloors. Probably easiest to lose a cockblock(s) at SH.

If I wanted to bring a friend here and wanted to put the absolute "best foot" forward for talent I'd probably take them Bond Street Social in Fells. It's probably one of the few places in Bmore you can suit-up at and not look out of place. Especially as it gets later in the night, you should see some quality. I've never been to Mosaic but I've heard good stuff. I know the Mosaic promoters. They have been around a long time and have established networks at the local universities that they use to let hot chicks in for free, etc.

The dream for this city would be if someone could start up a 18-21 night like Bourbon Street again, but unfortunately the political pressure is too great for that to happen.

Thanks for all the good info guys, ill be going up there in mid March. See what I can make of it.

I went up there in November and swung by the harbor to check the day game and I was honestly not impressed, it seemed like it lacked life(no music playing, sub par gimmicky tourist stores).Spoils of Miami I suppose.

If I can't make it on the weekend, what would be a good place to check out on Wednesday- Thursday and what time do places typically close at/last call?

Preface this by saying I'm from Baltimore but haven't been back in a while. I'm sure this applies to other cities, but I'm equally sure that the following has not changed:

Chode guys getting trying to start shit towards the end of the night.

Say you and your buddy are running game. It's getting late and some dork in Orioles t-shirt with another man's name on the back and his buddies try to talk shit. While you know know that you could whoop ass... just walk away. If anything even appears to go down in a weekend night - especially in Fed Hill - cops will be there immediately. They don't care who they arrest. Central booking in Baltimore = no fun. It'll ruin your trip and cost $.

Odds are that everything'll be fine. Still, I couldn't see a thread about my hometown and fail to mention it.

Ha yeah you'd be better off going to a mall or a school like Towson for Daygame, especially during the winter. Harbor is for tourists, fat families, gangs of teenagers trying to rob them/polar bear hunt (half-kidding), etc.

Baltimore call is 1:30am. Wednesday especially, is going to be dead most places. But if you go in and out of enough bars in a place like Fed Hill, Fells, or Canton, you might find something eventually. Thursday Mad River in Fed usually gets good later in the night, and Stalking Horse too probably. But don't expect much prior to midnight. Just take advantage of the fact that there are never any covers and check out as many places as possible until you find something.

I've been to Baltimore dozens of times, both to party, watch sports, and also because I have family there. Fed Hill is a rather boring neighborhood and too many row-houses with family's there, inner harbor is totally overrated and only good if you're a tourist. The two area's you want to be at are either Fells Point or Canton. Bond Street social is a great place to both day game (weekends) and night-game and GManifesto would fit in there perfectly. During the summer months though I would highly recommend Bay Cafe in Canton (by Lighthouse Pt.) especially if you are into boat game as you can dock your craft nearby and take the ladies for a quick sightseeing tour of Baltimore Harbor, they would definitely enjoy that more than the water taxis there.

Overall Baltimore has very mediocre night-life, especially if one is an older player. Really the only thing it has going for it is the fact that it is cheap and has good ratio's (compared to DC) BUT I would conservatively say 65% of the city is a no-go zone if you're white and want to do nigh-game. I've had a few close calls while walking home late at night. Gotta watch your back.

Bond Street is probably the best nightlife in the city at this point for an older player or if you want to suit up. But I'd say Fed is still worth checking out if you can roll with a younger crowd and are up here. My friends that live in Canton and Fells come to Fed because they say the girls are hotter/younger on average. There's some families around but not near the bars, and most people in those row houses are typical 20's post-college types...

This video is of closing so obviously higher density of thirsty dudes at this time on the street, but you get the basic idea

I know there is a ton of data on Baltimore in this thread, but I thought guys might be interested in reading one from the perspective of a minority. As i'm black, I think I qualify for that. I've lived in Baltimore city for the past year, and in the Baltimore area for the past 6 or so, so I feel I have a good vibe for the city. And since it seems to be compared to DC so much, i'll be juxtaposing the two cities a lot.

I read through this thread and most of it is accurate, but i'll try to provide as much new info as I can. Most of this will apply to everyone, but obviously as a minority it may be more relevant to minority problems and agendas. And just to get it out of the way, I am mostly into white and asian chicks, so that may color the report as well.

As mentioned many times, Baltimore is a blue-collar city that is divided into 4 main "party" areas for players to stalk their prey. They are Federal Hill, Power Plant, Fells Point, and Canton. Downtown/Midtown Baltimore also has a few select clubs and bars, but the area is not ideal....more on that later.

Baltimore in General

Baltimore is a city where everyone has a chance. There are jobs here, but not the same kind of jobs as elsewhere that attract women who are career-oriented, especially at the cost of a social life. Girls here care about two things: Baltimore Sports and drinking tons of beer on the weekends. Dress is casual in pretty much all places, which means that you can be comfortable wearing anything you want, but suiting up will indeed get you more attention. It intrigues them, I would say. Which leads to another point.

Baltimore girls are somewhat homely and easy to impress. Most of my friends live in DC and Northern Virginia, and when they come up to visit and go out all they have to do is mention they are from DC and the conversation is a go. Girls in Baltimore think everyone who lives in DC/Northern VA has a ton of money....which is somewhat true, at least relative to them and their jobs as inner-city teachers and/or social workers.

Girls

Despite being a blue-collar city, you will find the average girl in Baltimore is just as good-looking as the average DC girl. And with less makeup on to boot. As someone else mentioned, the great thing about Bmore is that wherever you go you are liable to run into the city's top notch talent just hanging around the bar, unlike places like DC where the best girls are either at tables or at parties you don't have access to. Any girl in Baltimore can be opened at any time, with any line. I've never been disrespected by a chick here no matter what I said. Can't say the same about DC and VA.

As well, race is much less of a limiting factor here than other places (DC, Arlington). I've never gone out here and felt my race was an inhibiting factor - for the most part, if a girl isn't into me and/or disses me, I take it at face value. I can't say that for other places.

As said, there are 4 main going out spots in Bmore. From south to north, they are:

Federal Hill

If you are coming to visit Baltimore....stay here. The highest concentration of 22-26 year olds you will find in the city. We call Fed the "post-college dorms". As said before, the main area to go is Cross St, where almost literally all the bars are concentrated. You will see SMOKING HOT chicks walking the streets here constantly. Open them up - they don't care. Whether you get dissed or not, the thing about girls here is that there is a distinct lack of egoism separating average girls from hot girls.

Magerks

Possibly the most central bar. Everyone comes here, and its a great place to mingle and just run into people on accident. The bottom floor is a good hangout place, but I don't think i've seen anyone ITT mention the upstairs. When you go up the steps, there is a dance floor there and girls do not wallflower, they actually get up and move. Its well-lit so you can see everyone properly, the music is always good (hip hop so you can grind), and the drinks are cheap but strong. This is normally my first stop when I hit Fed Hill. Highly recommended.

Nobles

Across the street from Magerks is Nobles, another two-story bar with a GREAT dance floor upstairs.

Now, as a disclaimer, I know not all guys love to dance, but I love to. My talk game is fine, but I dance like a goddamn demon (excuse my french) and I like to mix the two for max effect. Most of the places I frequent have at least a small dance floor, but all of them also have places to just go and troll for random girls.

Nobles is chock full of girls who love to dance and will do it with near anyone. And its easy to take someone downstairs to the main bar area if you make a connection. Just a good place all around

Mothers

Maybe the most popular spot in Fed Hill, has a great dance floor and a huge bar area where its easy to hit on girls without being seen by the masses. Not much else to say - its a must-see.

Mad River

For the true dance-aholics. This place is pretty much two levels of dance floor, so if you like to bogey this is the place for you. Very loud and dark however, so if you aren't confidence in your dance game and need to converse, this is probably not your best bet.

The Stalking Horse

Similar to Mad River in that its basically a huge dance floor upstairs with loud ass music and dark lighting. The downstairs is a bar area but i've found that most people there are coupled up. Hasn't been worth my personal time.

Fed Hill is chock full of young, prime pussy. The only issue with it is that its away from the rest of the city, kind of on its own island with the rest of the party spots all within close proximity of each other. Saying that, we're talking only about a 10 minute drive or so to the other spots, so not that huge of a deal. There are a bunch of other bars here, but as these are the only ones I frequent I thought i'd stick to what I knew.

Power Plant

Across from the Inner Harbor of Baltimore's shopping center and docks, Power Plant is an enclosed open-area spot that has gotten much better in the past few years. What used to be a somewhat ghetto, ratchet, young crowd has matured into a hotter, "more suburban" and more mature crowd with girls from 24-40 making their way into the many bars there. It costs about $5 to get into the enclosed area but once in you can go wherever you want for the most part. Mosaic has been mentioned here, but I find that place a bit high-brow and Baltimore-pretentious - lots of girls dressed to the T and hanging around the tables. Mosaic is very DC like, which is good in some ways and bad in others.

Iguana Cantina was mentioned earlier, but has been shut down for a while.

My favorite place to go here is PBR, a western-themed multi-level club that hosts some of the hottest girls the city has to offer. The main dance floor is huge, and there are numerous other areas of the bar to talk and mingle. There's a cool mechanical bull in the center that girls obviously like to try their hands at, and if nothing else you will have fun laughing at them being flung off the thing like a rocket.

Right below PBR is another bar the name of which escapes me, but is more of a "date" place than a hookup queue. However, across from this is Joe Squared, a place where not only they have a great dance floor, but also an elevated stage with stripper poles. As you can guess, girls love to get up on stage and show their moves, or lack thereof.

Power Plant is a nice place to go out, but more as a break from one of the other neighborhoods. I would rather start my night out there and then go somewhere else, if for nothing else than girls in other neighborhoods will actually live in those neighborhoods, and thus be easier to take home (to their place).

Fells Point

Ahhh....good old Fells Point. This is, IMO, the place to be in Baltimore if you want to party and are a little older (past early 20's). The girls are NOT as hot as the ones in Federal Hill, but the area itself is much bigger and livelier in general. The mixture here is more racially diverse. The vibe you get walking around here is that literally anything can happen - there are street musicians playing in the center lot at any time of night, bums wandering around, drunk girls stumbling. To a player or a player-in-training, this place will feel like home.

Bond St. Social

The mecca. If you love being on the prowl, and you love hot chicks, this is where you need to go. Its hard to find any ugly girls in this place, and in fact you'll find a lot of the city's "models" there. The music is TOP NOTCH. The venue is one floor but divided very clearly into the dance area, and the main mingling area. My fav place by far, the bouncers here dont even card me anymore, they just dap me up and move aside.

Now, what makes this place unique is that the main dance floor doubles as a mingle area - music is playing, but not too loud, and about half the people are dancing at any one time. You can easily open a chick, talk to her for a while, and then just start grinding on her as you please in the exact same spot.

The main area has a huge pillar in the middle, basically cutting the floor off into two sections. I like to make my way around the pillar, counter-clockwise, hitting on girls until something takes with none the wiser.

The dress code here is implied but not really enforced - you can wear what you want, but as someone else mentioned, most people are dressed a little nicer than anywhere else in the area. Most guys are in button ups and nice shirts as opposed to t-shirts. I personally tend to go all or nothing - a buddy of mine came up from DC wearing his suit and was opened by a (local) model who wanted to know why he was suited up. They ended the night together.

Personally, after going in there a couple months ago in a plain white v-neck T and k-closing 2 hot younger girls then smashing a cougar, i've come to the conclusion it doesn't matter what the fuck you wear. Its all about you and your confidence/swag, and I was feeling baller as shit that night. If wearing something in particular makes you feel more confident, go for it - but if you're on point what you wear isn't going to make a difference, even here, where people dress up more than usual.

The Get Down

This club is the "Mad River" of Fells Point. All dance floor downstairs, with a sectioned off couch area and upstairs couch area for those who brought girls. The Get Down is dark, and the music is loud - I come here when I specifically want to Get Jiggy With It immediately. Dance floor is not that big however - if you aren't having much luck, you can easily cover the full area in a matter of minutes and be out of girls to talk to. $10 cover charge so you'd better want to dance if you come in.

Max's Taphouse

Everyone in Baltimore knows and loves Max's. Best beer selection in the city, and although it has no dance floor its always stacked full of chicks on the weekends. Well lit too. Great place to drink during the day and pregame if you want to go somewhere else. Not ideal for meeting single girls in my experience, but worth checking out all the same.

The Horse You Came in On

Right across the street from Bond St. Social, this bar is a nice little gem I stumbled on after running into two of my exes at Bond St and jettisoning immediately. Dark and somewhat cramped, with a single level that is mostly for meeting and talking, little dancing, but not hard to strike up a conversation with any random chick who - if she is in here - is probably a little trashier.

Now. to the immediate left of Max's Taphouse are a few bars that cater to more minority crowds, and its not unusual to see most of the black and latina guys and girls congregated around here, hanging outside.

If you're a minority looking for other minorities, this is the place to be - the north end of Fells Point on the corner of Broadway and Fleet Street. Great food places as well, huge slices of pizza, cheesesteaks, crab cake sandwiches at a GREAT island deli in the middle of the street separating the two sidewalks of bars.

There are a TON more bars in Fells Point, but unfortunately i've only just started exploring them. Funny enough, it took me running into my exes to branch out from my watering hole Bond St Social and discovering other places, and i'm excited to see some more of them in the coming weekends. But I would say in sheer volume and variety of bars and clubs, Fells Point has all of the other neighborhoods beat. And you'll find all ages here too - Fed is a little younger (22-25), Canton a little older (25-32), but Fells is a great mix of the two and you get everything. You'll find girls from 23 to 42 here.

Fells is where I take all of my dates, on the same date - Max's for a drink, then a walk along the waterfront as the huge moon shines on the water. Works 60% of the time, every time. Great date spot. Fells is the best all-around neighborhood in the city IMO.

Canton

I've seen some of the guys in the thread mention Canton as one of the prime go-out spots in Baltimore. I have to respectfully disagree. I live in Canton, on the main square, and although there are a number of bars to go to, the area has nothing on Fells Point or Federal Hill in terms of quantity or ease of pull.

Canton is where the girls in Fed and Fells Point move to once they've found their white knight and settled down. The main square and bar area itself is much more compact than Fed or Fells Point, and although the girls are very attractive, they are all in relationships.

Now, let me get to the good things about Canton first.

Its very safe. In fact, i've seen some concerns about Baltimore safety-wise and let me assure everyone - if you are south of Patterson Park/Baltimore St. (every area i've mentioned), NOTHING WILL EVER HAPPEN TO YOU. There is a very distinct and fine line between the part of Bmore that you can get fucked up in, and the parts you can't. And you will know IMMEDIATELY when you cross it. Coincidentally, on the other side of Patterson Park/Baltimore Street is where most of the strip clubs and more inner-city, "urban" clubs are. If the crowd is to your liking (black, latina girls), its for you, but enter at your own risk.

Canton is along the waterfront of Baltimore's harbor, next to Fells Point, and before I moved here I would be walking around looking for my car at 2am and see people walking their dogs. White, yuppie people who looked like they should be at a country club. Fells Point and Fed Hill aren't quite as happy-go-lucky, but neither of them will give you any trouble you don't ask for.

Anyway, as I mentioned Canton is an older, more mature crowd with lots of bars whose best feature is their gourmet food. Thats not to say I haven't hooked up with girls here - but its been far fewer and between then the others. Simply put, you can have fun here but most of the chicks you run into will be engaged, married, or in committed relationships. I like living here because of the aforementioned reasons (nice area, waterfront), but its easily the last place I would spend a weekend night.

Is it possible to pull here? Yes. Are there good bars? Yes. Is it worth your time to skip the other neighborhoods? No. If you happen to come to Bmore, go to Canton to try out the top-notch seafood at Mama's on a Half Shell or the bbq sandwiches at JD's Smokehouse, then head back east to Fells or Fed Hill.

I also saw someone mention the Bay Cafe in an above post - this place has been shut down since December after going out of business. A real shame too, what he said about it was right, it was a great place to go to drink and mack on chicks. Even before I moved to Canton, I would come here on weekends to hit the Bay Cafe for the reasons he mentioned. Lots of ambiance and atmosphere from lit tiki torches and the beach-sand floor.

Anyway, if you do decide to come to Canton to hang out, there are only a few places worth your time IMO:

Looney's Pub

No dance floor and lots of non-single chicks. My strategy here has always been to hit the pool table on the second floor and get in playing with whoever was up there, which usually included a bunch of guys and hot girls. Meeting someone in the bar area will be difficult because they won't be single and it can be impossible to open - but play pool with the bitches and you can begin a rapport in an organic way.

Claddagh's

2nd best bar in Canton, because of the upstairs dance floor. Very small, but here you have to make do with what you can get.

Coburns

Across the street from Claddagh's Pub is Coburns, a similarly designed place with a main bar area downstairs and a small (but bigger than Claddagh's) dance floor upstairs. People here are generally the most laid-back in the area, i've found, and even when I haven't hooked anything i've had fun just messing around on the dance floor with different girls and guys. This is my favorite go-out spot in Canton.

Again though....only if you really need to would I come to Canton to party. And no one really needs to.

*Race
Touching on some of the other subjects I mentioned, especially as pertaining to minorities, I would say that if you are a black/brown guy, Baltimore is as good a city as you will find in the mid-Atlantic area. Philly i've found is lacking in talent, and DC is a little too high-brow and pretentious at times. As a black guy, who likes white girls, i've never felt my race was a real inhibiting factor when I went out - it may well have been, and i'm not saying it hasn't, but every black guy can "feel" when things aren't exactly square.

I went to the University of Maryland for college, which is right near DC, so during school and right after, DC was my main stomping grounds for chasing ass. You can pull, but status and prestige - not even necessarily money - was the factor most girls there are attracted to. What can do you for them? Where can you take them? The lawyers, capitol hill lobbyists, pharmaceutical saleswomen, etc. flood the city and their main goal is to further their career, not deal with men. Especially minority men. Not complaining, just observing.

DC, and Arlington, have a different "feel" to them than Baltimore does. Before you even talk to anyone...its just something in your bones. Most black guys should know what i'm talking about. I'm not saying avoid DC by any means - my friends who live there get their share of girls, and i've scored both my fastest makeout and fastest smash ever in DC.

What i'd suggest for any minorities (who date outside their race) reading is that if you have a choice, and want to maximize your pussy efficiency, Baltimore is a much better bet - not only are the girls just as hot, they are more accessible and more open to dating (read: FUCKING) outside their race. Since i've moved into the city and my friends have visited more consistently, they are all talking about selling their places and moving here.

My advice for anyone wanting to experience charm city is to do the following:

- Stay at a hotel in the Inner Harbor/Power Plant area, or rent a place in Federal Hill

- Go out to party in Fells Point or Federal Hill

- Eat in Canton or in the Inner Harbor

Best of all, all of these places are relatively close so its no big deal to cab around the city from neighborhood to neighborhood. You could go to 2-3 in one night if you want - but if you're in the right spot, hopefully you won't need to.
