Saint Patrick's Day Game

I think this is the one day of the year where being smooth is a bad thing.
A nice steak, a few pints of guinness and then bushmills till I can hardly stand.
Enjoy yourself everyone!

I avoid the crowds on New Years, Cinco de Drinko, and St. Shitfaced. All the amateur drinkers pop out of the woodwork and cause a mess for other people to handle.
On these days it's always better to just host a social get together where you have all the benefits of flowing booze without the riffraff.

I like St. Paddy's. You can find girls who aren't used to nightlife and heavy drinking. Getting a chance to run "night game" on the type of girls you'd normally have to day game. In my hometown the main church is St. Patrick's, so the whole town, Catholic or not, gets blitzed. The local university unofficially cancels classes a few days before, because hangovers, projectile vomiting, and nuclear physics don't mix well.

Agree from a fellow Irishman. Paddys Day is a cringe fest outside of Ireland as every Tom, Dick and Harry will regale us with tales about how his father's uncle, twice removed, dog was Irish and begorrah out with the leprechaun hats, the shamrock, plastic hammers and the Tom Cruise-esque dodgy Irish accent from Far and Away (I'm Joooseph Donnelly, ya murdered me fadder boyo). But hey, it works every time. The Yanks just lap it up.

I have to say doing game on some vomit stained, beer swilling chick never appealed to me and I betcha the vast majority of these girls arent even Irish.
Begorrah!

Friends from Cork have a great Irish bar here that has a Shebeen. If St Paddy falls on a weekday I head to the Shebeen (private) early in the afternoon and sip Guinness and Redbreast with all the regulars. This means there are nearly no women, and just a bunch of cool old cats and general degenerates. Meanwhile the pub out front gets packed, rowdy and is a mess by 6pm.
On weekends, I head to an Irish friends of mine and eat and drink all day until I am almost sleeping.
This year is on a weekend. Unfortunately.

Shebeens are the best place to be on Paddys Day for a session and the craic. As you rightly pointed out, its best to avoid the local plastic bars.
There was a shebeen near my home town years ago owned by two bachelor brothers, one a school teacher, the other ex British Army. The shebeen had started out life as a family pub but when both parents popped their cloggs, the brothers went off the rails a bit. Anyway the pub burnt down and of course it was never repaired. They simply boarded up the windows and continued on as normal. It was a great spot for a sing song and of course hardly any women went into the place but as a young lad barely 18, it was great to talk to old men in the 70s and 80s who had spent time at sea, traveling around the world and all the dodgy blokes and women they met. Right characters they were. The shebeen was famous. The place was manky dirty. You drank what you liked (bottles of Guinness and Bushmills for the men, red lemonade for the kids) and food (cabbage, potatoes, crubeens, ribs and pig's toes) was provided for a €10 in the pot. You drank until all hours.
The brothers were highly educated guys and were polyglots. Of course in the summer the tourists would roll by and the Yanks would always stop at Mikey's shebeen. Mikey would ply them with drink and songs and they loved it. Both are dead now but I do have some great memories of the place. The plastic themed Irish bars abroad I detest with a passion. If you want to experience Ireland, going down to your local Irish themed pub every Paddy's Day to get pissed on over expensive, imported Guinness which tastes like donkey's piss while wearing a leprechaun hat and waving a plastic hammer just wont cut it.

I view it as an opportunity to go after sloppy drunk girls, maybe get a BJ behind the bar or in a porta potty
I'm thinking about going to a pub crawl at the beach-it was hopping last year-getting a hotel room, and trying for a pull. A girl i just banged asked what i was doing for St Pats last week and I invited her to come along now im thinking I should blow her off and go alone
