While I agree Hopkins is the man, no one outside of boxing really cares G.

And no one outside of fans of gay music cares about Drake Midnite.

What's your point?

That is the way I prefer to do things.

The problem here G is that there are a lot of men out there who like winning over everything else. They will do whatever it takes to be number 1.

Honestly, I respect those kinds of men.

That's why I don't give a shit if Drake is "the softest rapper alive". The man has created a public persona that has generated millions of dollars, and created fame that has lasted several years. So far, the man has proven himself to be at the top of the heap.

The man is a winner, and that is all I care about.

So you would turn gay just to "win"?

You "respect" those kinds of men.

See, I am not with you on this.

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

I have had enough of this conversation. You kids depress me.

I am going to my boxing gym now and listen to DMX while I work out to cleanse my body of this conversation.

That is the least imaginative and weakest defense possible. It is like a chubby feminist in DC telling me "you can't handle a strong independent woman" when she finds out am I dating a petite FOB taking ESL classes.

I do not "hate" Drake and rest assured i do not want to be Drake.

Regardless of whether or not he is making money, I think I speak for a lot of guys posting here:

We do not RESPECT him.

I agree with whoever said Drake has a witty flow. He does. It's not Lil-Wayne level of word play, but it's not bad. Justin Beiber also gets a lot of hate (mostly from older teenage boys) that I don't get. He simply has no effect on me, why waste the energy? The biggest way to diss someone is to show indifference, not get all huffy and puffy because they're young and rich.

Drake made an appearance at Howard's homecoming last year. When he came out the girls almost caused a riot and almost got the show stopped.

The man makes like 500K for at least some of his bigger shows. At least like 200K for just regular shows.

In my opinion his music actually jams. He can harmonize and is lowkey one of the best rappers in the game. His hooks are usually always catchy and on point.

The man is paid, the bitches love him, and his music (his trade of choice) is extremely popular. Other than being disliked by mainly dudes that claim he's lame, I don't see where he's losing.

And 50K to him in the club is really nothing. He probably had his account to prepare the tax paperwork for it before he even went to the club.

Not to mention the dude is only like 26 years old.

That is really not that unusual.

Tupac and Big were 24 when they were killed.

Method Man was 22 when Wu changed hip hop.

Ice Cube was 19 or so when NWA changed Hip-Hop.

Snoop was 21 when he changed hip hop.

Nas was 20 when he changed hip hop.

Beastie Boys were 20 when they changed hip hop.

Q-tip and Phife were 20 when they changed hip hop.

Rakim was 18 when he changed hip hop.

LL Cool J was 17.

And it goes on and on till the break of dawn.

Drake couldn't hold any of these and countless others microphone stands.

But I wouldn't expect you to know any of that after you made a laughable statement like this:

Lil Wayne and Drake ruined rap music. It was already going down hill, but now it will never be the same.

And what's your point?

Drake was only maybe 19 when he got discovered. The free mixtape he dropped damn near won him a Grammy. In black urban America, forreal forreal, somewhere that I seriously doubt you even are half way affiliated with, Drake was hot as shit back then and will still sale out an arena now.

Put "started from the bottom" on in any urban club in America and watch how turnt up it gets.

Do you know who put Drake on? Rap a Lot records CEO J Prince's son is the one that discovered Drake. The same Rap a Lot records that housed Scarface, the 5th Ward Boyz, Big Mike, Gangsta Nip and countless others. These are the folks and the likes of whom that Drake was embraced by. I'm not even going to go into J Princes background. Just google him.

The best thing for you to do is to keep promoting smoking cigarettes. Leave this hip hop shit to the people that really know what they are talking about.

Man, this thread is just hysterical.

These arguments remind me of who's better mental masturbation- LeBron or Kobe.

Lets all waste our time arguing over dudes who are ridiculously more successful and wealthy than we are.

Lets compound this issue by getting into young guy vs. old guy debates and piss on each other to waste more time.

Same story different tune.

Old dudes try to "protect their history" calling out young guys. Young guys get annoyed and say old guy is just "jelly".

I'm going to look at my PA now and think about what I would do if I saw a ten bagger on that thing instead of actually working to find ways to improve my life.

This thread is just AIDS.

I had no idea this thread would turn into a Drake hatefest but it's entertaining and to be expected when talking about highly successful artists in the genre. It's a very competitive industry and there's always been endless comparisons and love/hate to go around. LL vs. Kool Moe Dee, 2Pac vs. Biggie, Jay-Z vs. Nas, etc. Right now there can be no disputing Drake's position as one of the top rappers in the game, which is funny because the guy croons on so many records. Females are largely the ones buying the music in general so it's been the case for a long time to drop at least one song, if not more, for the ladies. Hell, even Mobb Deep did that eventually with their collabo with 112, which caught a lot of their hardcore fans off guard to say the least.

That being said, the current state of hip-hop is pretty awful by historical standards to where I don't even follow it anymore. Drake has a pretty clear lane to success with no real threats to worry about lyrically. That beef era in hip-hop seems to have had its run...for now.

Drake may be funny looking to some. But especially compared to other rappers out right now. He is easily one of the best. They have nothing to basically do all day. Rappers are the last remaining Rock Stars. I agree with the other poster. That probably is the club's money.

That says more about the state of current rap music than it says about Drakes qualities as an MC.

You have no idea of my background, but great job on leaving one of the stupidest most ignorant comments left on the forum.

If you think Hip-Hop is only for "black urban America" then you don't understand Hip-Hop's history or hip hop today. You should school yourself to prevent yourself from looking like a fool in the future.

Which shouldn't come as a shocker for someone in love with Fake.

You can't tell me shit about hip hop. You can't tell me shit about a suit. You can't tell me shit about women. You can't tell me shit.

This thread is hilarious. I've posted before about Ghostface Killah's Annual List of Softest Rappers and Drake always takes the no. 1 spot.

I think anyone who's read G's blog would know he's a true hip-hop head and has a deep and developed taste in music in general. That's just an objective fact.

He's actually opined on Drake in the past.

I agree wholeheartedly. I mean look at these lyrics. Would this guy have survived in the 90s? These aren't even rap lyrics. Looks like it was written for Omarion or Usher.

Lyrics:[Verse 1: Drake]
Hey girl,
Do you want my number?
That way you can call me
Everytime I come into town
And then I will drive up to your house
And take you out to dinner
I don't expect nothing at all

[Chorus:]
But what if we happen to kiss, then we touch
Put a rush on it, get it over with
What if I just know what you like
And it feels right, then it's over with
What if I don't call you back
Prove you right
And all this lasts just one night
(Maybe we should slow it down) slow, slow, slow

[Verse 2: Drake]
Hey girl,
I'm back in Atlanta
Second dates are lovely
This time you should choose where we go
Need suggestions?
How about the movies?
Many go for ice cream
I'm not picky, you'll let me know

[Chorus:]
But what if we happen to kiss, then we touch
Put a rush on it, get it over with
What if I just know what you like
And it feels right, then it's over with
What if I don't call you back
Prove you right
And all this lasts just one night
(Maybe we should slow it down) slow, slow, slow

I dunno, dropping 50 racks in a strip club sounds like a good time to me personally. Personal preference really isn't universal, so people shouldn't act like it is. I don't understand why people like death metal, but I don't think there's anything wrong with liking the genre of music.

Also, in my opinion Drake definitely has bars. Not always, but he can spit over a beat when he feels like it.
