Breaking in to a social circle

One of the most common complaints I see on this board is that, unless you're part of a social circle, it's impossible to approach women in Latin American countries. I had this problem myself in Latin America.

The way I broke the trap was via online dating. I ended up dating this really nasty looking overweight girl. While I was interested in anything more than a friendship with her--yes, guys can friendzone girls--I was very interested in her very beautiful friends, who soon became my roommates and introduced me to more girls. I would not have been able to enter that social circle without dating the overweight chick.

This approach mainly works for people who plan in staying in a country for a while. That limitation in mind, it is an effective way of using online dating to meet girls who are pretty enough to not resort to online dating.
