extrapolation and guesswork

Which also forms the basis of all these "cleanses" except there's not even an attempt to back up any of it scientifically. As someone here as pointed out, no precise definition for these "toxins" is ever given. Like the acai berry fad, it's a buzzword designed for hamstering housewives who want to feel better about themselves while not actually expending any real effort.

Sure the medical community has been wrong in the past. On the whole, I'd still rather trust them than a bunch of New Age quacks.

I agree though there's no harm in trying stuff like this every once in a while. Even if it's a placebo, if the end result is good, then it's good. But in the world of esoteric BS, where a lot of people seem to end up in an echo chamber by increasingly interacting with other people who are also into these things, it seems a slippery slope from this kind of stuff to a point where you end up with shit like this

Claiming "slippery slope!" is one of the classic forms of fallacious argumentation that appear in books on rhetoric in their list of fallacies. It's an attempt to lump together positions that don't resemble one another, and use some extreme position to smear everyone else. It's what feminist do when they scream "rape culture!" as if PUAs have anything to do with real rapists.

Can you name me any field of human endeavor that doesn't have crackpots and scammers? Yeah, I didn't think so. That doesn't invalidate everything in the field though, does it? For years, the medical establishment viewed meditation as New Age hocus-pocus that was merely a placebo effect; now its real beneficial effects have been well documented and many major clinics offer it as therapy.

There's plenty of evidence, both scientific and practical, that short and medium term fasting has beneficial effects. If you don't want to try it fine.

There is something about human social psychology I've noticed, though. Men who have become wealthy through their own efforts are often very encouraging and supportive of people trying to get rich, men who are expert players usually want to help and teach guys who can't get laid be successful with women, and men who are fit and healthy in particular want to help other people become so and encourage them in their efforts. On the other hand, poor people and failures constantly try to discourage and tear down anyone trying to succeed, losers with women claim it's all about looks or money and ridicule any man attempting to learn Game, and the people with the most shittily unhealthy lifestyles are the most likely to criticize anyone who makes a serious effort to improve their health and fitness.

The Master Cleanse

It's the end of Day 4 and I'm doing fine. I'm having less hunger feelings each day; actually they were quite mild today. Still have plenty of energy. Only negative symptoms is brief episodes of lightheadness a couple of times a day. Generally feel good. I've lost 11.5 lbs since I started on a ketogenic diet about 3 weeks ago.

My last solid food was a sandwich Sunday night, yet the salt water flush still brought out a good bit of solid material this morning. Obviously stuff is being knocked loose in there. My nurse friend told me that it is a medical fact that rotting shit can stay in your intestines for weeks, months or even years.

I did have an incident this morning though. The third time I had to use the toilet after the flush, I was out running errands and had to use a store's toilet. After expelling the liquid, I looked in the toilet and the water was bright red. "I'm bleeding internally!" I thought, and figured out where was the nearest ER. Then I remembered that, because I was tired of the lemonade, that morning I had drank a glass of cherry Crystal Light, which was bright red.

Not sure how long I'm going to continue, I might go the 10 days, but I"m taking it day by day.

Day 5-similar to day 4. Minimal hunger. Feel energetic and clear headed. I noticed that my sex drive has gone down, perhaps one reason fasting has been used by spiritual practitioners. I'm still texting my girls and working online game, just not thinking about sex as often. I've decided I'm going either 7 days, which would be convenient with my schedule, or going for 10. I'll decide the evening of the 7th day.

The Master Cleanse

I ended the fast last night. Went 7 days with no solid food. The only "cheat" I did was a few cups of tea or coffee with splenda and a couple of glasses of Crystal Light. The 6th and 7th day were quite easy and I'm sure that I could have made it the entire 10 days with no problem. I chose to stop on Day 7 because I have some things to do later in the week that involve gatherings at meals and I have a fuck buddy I haven't seen in quite a while texting me wanting an intense sex session and I want to be ready for her.

I broke the fast by juicing up a bunch of assorted citrus and strawberries and cutting it one third with water. I drank that for dinner last night and during the day today. I had a cup of chicken broth this evening and two hours later a bowl of tomato soup, followed by a fruit salad, which was my first solid food. So far, no digestive problems. In the morning I'm going to have soup and fruit again, and eggs and fruit for lunch. For dinner I'll have a full regular meal of some sort.

Summary- It was a good experience overall. Once you make it through the first two days, it's quite easy. I had lots of energy to work long hours and do some physical activities. By the fourth day I was feeling really clearheaded, "light" and calm. My mental state was good the whole time. I know I've lost weight, I'll see how much tomorrow. It's a good test of your willpower and you have the confidence you can do something new that most people haven't done and would never do.

Pros: Weight loss
Fasting has been proven to have positive health effects
Strengthening of willpower
Boost of confidence
Good way to kick off a new health and fitness lifestyle

Cons: Hunger, mostly first two days
Restricts your social life due to no eating or drinking
Social unacceptance- some people will think you are weird or try to ridicule you-I was accused of having "body dismorphic disorder" for saying that I'm 20 lbs overweight, which I am (or was).
Some people find the Saltwater Flush unpleasant, though I didn't think it was any big deal
Cold sore-I got a cold sore outbreak on Day 3 which might have been due to the stress of not eating on my body. But I do get one every 2 years or so it could have been a coincidence. Also I laid out in the sun for the first time in months the day before the outbreak and sun is known to bring on an outbreak.

Tips:

If you want to try this, the most important thing is to commit to making it through the first 48 hours, no matter what. It's fairly easy after that.

I think it's helpful to reduce your carbs for a week or two before you start the cleanse so that your body is adjusted to a lack of carbs and has kicked over to burning fat for energy

Premix your lemonade in a gallon jug to drink at work or whenever you're away from home. But don't put in the cayenne; it will get hotter as it sits and be too spicy. Carry a bottle of cayenne and sprinkle some in the glass before you drink

Drink the lemonade whenever you feel hungry, don't have set meal times

Take a laxative each evening

If you are doing the flush, which you should, use a tablespoon of sea salt in a quart of water. Put the salt in a measuring cup and add lukewarm water first to help it dissolve, then cold water. Actually I found drinking it lukewarm was more palatable than cold. Make sure you have quick access to a toilet for the next couple of hours. I would have one big expulsion about 45 minutes after drinking the solution, followed by a couple of smaller ones in the next hour or two.

Keep the lemons at room temperature; they juice much better that way.

Take a probiotic when you start the ease out process

Don't skip the ease out process.

Excellent write up, MrXY.

A few questions, though. You said you felt energetic after the first couple days. Were you working while doing the fast? Or were you off work? Do you think someone could work while doing the cleanse?

I have a 9-5 that is not physically stressful, but there is tight schedule I follow during the day. This makes me worried about bathroom breaks and such. I can wake up early enough to do the saltwater flush several hours before work, but I'd rather be safe and not shit my pants.

I worked 12 hours days 5 of the 7 days , which included some physical effort with no problem at all.

If you're concerned about toilet access during the day, just do the flush as soon as you get home in the evening. The water will be passed through by the time you go to bed most likely. I did the flush in the evening a couple of times.

I'm just ending the ease out period. For the last two days I had eggs and fruit in the morning and soup and fruit for the other meals. Just had my first real solid food meal, baked fish and broccoli for lunch. I haven't had any digestive issues.

I lost 6 lbs during the fast. About six weeks ago I weighed 205, now I weigh 187. Looking to get down to about 175, which is my weight when I'm really fit. I'm starting on the paleo diet today and going to experiment with intermittent fasting. After the Master Cleanse, not eating for just part of a day should be easy

I'm on the 5th day & wondering if I should stop since my bowel movements are only liquid now. 3rd & 4th day there was still some solid shit coming out.

Any advice?

Also I agree with everyone else who says the first two days are the hardest. I'm confident in myself that I can continue till the 10th day but I'm wondering if this cleanse has already ran its course.

As long as you feel ok I would give it a couple more days at least.

Are you doing the salt water flush?

Yes I do the flush in the morning & I actually do feel fine.

I think I was just trying to justify me quitting. I work in a restaurant with amazing expensive food being offered to me for free all day.

I will do the 10 days even if I'm only shitting liquid, I'll update later.
