The Black Man's 5 point guide to staying fresh and looking young:

1. Healthy Diet
[by the time of 35 you should of built up a substantial amount of muscle, count down on red meats and animal flesh aside from healthy fish, and nutrient dense lean meats. Red meat and Pork is heavy on our systems and you should be scaling down the consumption of these considerably into your older years. Drink tons of water and eat those veggies and healthy fats]

2. Low Stress
[You should be in a a position of near a position of your top earning potential and lifestyle goals. Make a plan to chill the fuck out when and if possible. Stress will age you super quick and be a pre-courser to a bunch of other issues]

3. Be Active
[Pick one activity you enjoy and be religious with it; Boxing, Basketball, Soccer, Jogging, whatever it may be]

4. Regular trips to your barber to stay clean shaven and lined up nice.

5. Just for men
[Start dying that hair unless you think you can rock that salt and pepper well but in all honesty grey hair is a Black Man's enemy as it is a bad contrast to are faces which for the most part are able to age well. Our White/Light skinned brothers have an advantage of contrasting subtle grey a lot better then we can. Other option: go bald if you can rock it well]

** pro-tip: Start incorporating Sunscreen or natural remedies (Tomato rich diets) when you first start to notice signs of wrinkles. Fight off the on-set of wrinkles, and the development of age lines which I feel maybe don't develop as frequently in comparison to lighter skin but end up being more pronounced and deeper.

** extra pro-tip: Build up and maintain a look that is solely you. You should be a statue in your older years and look more or less the same well into your 60's. No need to experiment with shi,t you should look no different from 40 onwards (By 40 you need to have your style down, your looks down, your fitness down; you have to set that baseline to craft and cast your statue). By this time your are just doing subtle changes that more or less do not change. Every picture you take you should be looking as fly, and ageless - with your Women staying young and fresh always also.

Some examples of Brothers whom are ageing well:

Exhibit A - Denzel Washington (Age 58):

Exibit B - LL Cool J (Age 46):

Exibit C - Kevin Weekes (Former NHL Goalie; Age 37)

Case Study: What will you look like where your old like Tenderman as a Black Male on the 5 point plan? - LA Reid (Age 56):

This guy looks like half my family over the age of 45 (no joke). The difference is LA Reid still looks cool with his style while my Uncles look like old successful angry Doctors - which in some cases can be a blessing or a curse. [Image: confused.gif] For African and Caribbean Men (more so then African-Americas due to the *slightly* different and *stronger* structures in the face; typical African-American Man seek Denzel Washington or LL Cool J as examples as I feel African-American Men have somewhat less edged out features as African Men as we age) out there whom are successful this is what you can expect in your old age if you follow the 5 point plan.

I feel this look suits us best because it softens the hard features we can sometimes get which are just part of the package of being of direct African or Caribbean decent (I am already getting the start of the 'scowl' already in my mid-twenties). L.A. Reid looks and fits his job description of a cool, innovative, music head in comparison to looking like a Angry Doctor whom is looking for his Grandkids to slap around.

I see how my people age, money does not make you look fresh and cool by default if you don't want to apply it correctly. having a cool edge in your older years puts you above the rest. At this age your style should be top-notch and world class, but throwing in a eccentric flare keeps you looking ahead of the pack.

Case Study # 2 - Will Smith (Age 46) - Still searching to lock down that 'Statue':

Will Smith is still trying to lock down that look he will carry into his older years. He has been getting a lot of nit-pickings in the press because he is visibly ageing quickly in the public eye. If Will would of locked down his look sooner he could of avoided this since nobody pays much attention to what you look like in movie roles vs public life (See: Denzel Washington whom shows his age in some roles and then 'transforms' back into his day-to-day look). Will Smith has experimented with rocking his grey hair, dying it, bald; face wise: clean shaven, grey goatee, and a host of mix-matches. It seems now he has settled into a look now, and now looks a consistent age instead of much older then he needs to:

Will Smith in Montreal this week; at a Hockey Game, and out at a event:

Black does not crack , but if it does its a lot more noticeable then with lighter skinned people. 5 steps can build up that 'Statue' and keeping you looking more or less the same until your 60's.

PM me if you're interested. Propecia is amazing but expensive. The generic Finasteride is essentially 5 doses of Propecia per pill and it's about 5% of the cost. The problem is that you need to have a doctor who is lax or who you are cool with to get it prescribed.

From wikipedia:

Finasteride is sometimes used in hormone replacement therapy for male-to-female transsexuals in combination with a form of estrogen due to its antiandrogen properties.

No fucking thanks. Id rather go bald.

Granted, wikipedia is not a reliable source for anything, but Id rather take my chances with baldness than shrunken balls. Im assuming you havnt had any of these side effects, or you wouldnt be using it.

Damn, Ill look into it. If its generic Im guessing I could find some without much hassle.

It also causes erectile dysfunction. Better to go bald.

Yep, be very careful with that shit. It's commonly used during steroid cycles but is quickly falling out of favour due to cases of irreversible erectile dysfunction.

Honestly, if you don't know shit, don't say shit. The statements above are worthless. If you want more info on finasteride/proscar/propecia, investigate other resources. Baldingblog.com is a good source, and there are plenty of others.

Henry Rollins doesn't look to bad for being born in '61. I think he would knock off some years if he dyed his hair black and just kept it buzzed. Of course he's looking rough in the face but I would put money on the table that he could pick up late 20 year olds in America if he dyed his hair, kept it buzzed and made sure his gray beard never showed.

Im pretty sure Henry Rollins could pick up 20 year olds without changing anything about himself.

True. I am a few months from 30 but most women think I am 22-25.

Works for me.

Question: Is sunscreen a bit redundant since people of color already have melanin in their skin?

And for the older black dudes, when do you guys stop looking like you are in your 20s? I know guys who are 37 and still look 27.

Does anybody who does not have balding problems know how to slow or stop the process? Using Rogaine everyday seems like overkill til I notice a problem. Some forks are natural, but if i start losing anywhere else im going to act fast!
You can try Vichy Dercos Aminexil line of products. http://www.amazon.com/DERCOS-AMINEXIL-EN..._sim_hpc_6
If you want to save $$ L'Oreal (owner of Vichy brand) released similar product for emerging markets under their own brand L'Oreal Renaxil Anti-Hair Loss treatment http://www.amazon.com/Professionnel-Homm...m_sbs_bt_8
Just troll google hard for the cheap option as there is big variance in price. I bought my stuff for ~$20 while amazon shows $39...
I use it for the last couple of years and it slows down balding in my opinion.
