You can see it's much bigger than Sao Paolo. But to be fair, in my opinion it's more like a province than city nowadays.

not that it really matters but Chongqing city does not have 30 million people. Shanghai is the largest city in China and it has around 20 million maybe 25 million people. The actually city of Chongqing probably has around 7 million or so people. It used to be part of Sichuan province and in roughly '97 it became it own province about the size of Austria. So the 30 million number is the province not the specific city.

For one night stands Shanghai and Beijing are probably your best bet. They do prefer white skin and shocking yes they like rich guys. Prostitutes are everywhere if you can't find them then you don't know what a chinese prostitute looks like.

I've spent the last couple of weeks in Beijing on a teacher training course. Three bars I'd recommend:

The Den

Great sports bar, shows loads of different western sports and western sports teams (rugby, American football, football etc.)

Good pizzas as well. My friend had a burger, said it was nice. The chips were excellent.


Club Mixx and Vicks

Two different clubs, opposite each other. Both were a lot of fun. Mixx is huge, but looks small when you walk in. There are four or five different levels, but the only one that gets crowded is the first one as you walk in. Head left, and go down the steps, and you have an almost private dance floor with your own bar.

Vicks is much smaller - and is your typical basement club. However, on the two nights I went there, it was filled with gorgeous Eastern European expats. Either I was lucky and there was a model convention in town for the couple of days I was there or it's just where they go.

Don't worry about not being able to order in bars if you don't speak Mandarin - all the menus are written in characters with the English underneath, so you can just point.

You got an address for the Den? Im up in bj for a while but been busy with work and im staying outside the 4th ring rd so its a hassle to get out to anywhere.

Mixx wasnt impressive to me when i went in summer of 10.' Seemed to be typical Chinese club with almost no one around during the week, ill prbly need to try it on a weekend. Went there with a distributor in bj and the hookers there are just plain aggressive. She kept harassing me for my phone number all night, after the distributor already hired her for himself.

Vicks has been recommended but i haven't had a chance to get out there.

Also, stay away from Maggie's as i was taken there by an agent once b/c its supposed to be hot with foreigners. It is, but thats b/c the place is filled with Mongolian prostitutes, like all the girls there are p4p.

The best places ive found personally were in Wudaokou, there is like a street of coffee shops, bars and a nice pizza place. Mostly students or graduates of the english program, and never had a bad night out there.

Ya im back. Ive just been busy as hell working out some visa issues. Ended up getting stuck in HK for a month and a half with almost 0 funds and no internet b/c a chick was trying to be nice and washed my pants. Turns out my passport was also in my pants, so i had a very clean passport with no chinese visa in it. Traveling is alot less now, as im focusing on maybe 5 or 6 provinces and i also have other obligations that keep me in town more often. Ill do a full beijing report once i can get the motivation and time to actually get out and explore, and hook up with some locals to show me around.

And i apologize for the mistake in the population of ChongQing, i asked my agent in that area, and he must have responded with the provincial numbers rather then the actual city itself.

Ive been to Kunming and Chengdu. Kunming is a CLEAN city compared to other cities, so it's not below the average, I don't agree with you. Chengdu is THE party city of China. Lots of bars and nightlife and the girls in Sichuan province are the most beautiful in China

Uhm, have you actually been to Chengdu? I've been to Xiamen and Hangzou and the nightlife is far better in Chengdu. There are a few streets full of wall-to-wall bars to hang out, nightclubs are all around the city but you have to know the places so you need a wingman. Sichuan girls are known to be "hot" and like to dress up and the younger folks love to go out at night. The only place I actually want to go back to is definately Chengdu in Sichuan province although the weather is kind of depressing for me the nightlife makes it all good. The expat community is friendly, not as snobby as Shanghai but not as childish as Kunming and the local women are open minded and love to hangout with foreigners. Once I went to a more upscale nightclub and the manager offered my friends and me a free bottle of Whisky on our first visit.

Saying that Xiamen or Hangzhou has better nightlife than Chengdu is ridicilously wrong, the weather is better in Xiamen though and there are more male Western expats in Hangzhou if that's what your looking for.

Chengdu outnumbers Shanghai in the number of tea houses and bars despite having less than half the population. Sichuan people drink more than those in eastern china for the most part. Compared to north or south i don't know. The girls are called "spicy" bc they are more passionate same applies to Chongqing, used to be part of Sichuan. Best food comes from there too. Chengdu is cool. There used to be a reggae bar u could smoke weed in, but it closed down a few years ago.
