I've been watching some episodes of an Austrian blind-date show online:

Some of the women look ok and seem nice, but you can't really trust or go by reality TV shows these days. So I would like to hear from some people living there:

Is the country one big cock-fest?
Have attitudes changed much due to globalization/facebook, etc.
How is dating there?
Are women bitchy?

I've been with two girls that grew up in Austria, but neither of them were actually Austrian. As a matter of fact, my girlfriend now (Who I just got back together with) grew up in Austria, but was born in Turkey and her family all came from Turkey. She is gorgeous and the coolest girl I've ever been with (Which is obviously why I'm with her). The others family was Brazilian, she was hot as well. Crazy thing is, this girl doesn't even have citizenship in any country, so she says. She was actually born in England but said for some reason she never got English citizenship. Her father was a preacher from Brazil and they moved a lot, but she spent most of her youth in Austria. She was cool as hell and I really did her wrong. She got me back though by bringing her fiance to meet up with me while she passed through in Miami. That was awkward. I think she married the guy because her US visa was gonna run out and she had no country to go to.

That being said, I may not be the best person to ask about true Austrian girls. As far as true Austrian girls, born and raised there, I've only met a handful in brief interactions. They were nice girls, but ugly. I'm pretty sure Austria has a decent international population/immigrants. If you are going for looks, the Turks and other girls there might be better. Depends what you are into though. I look through my girls sisters profile on facebook who still lives in Austria (My girl doesn't live in Austria anymore and doesn't have many pics on facebook), and she has a lot of really good looking friends, and she is very beautiful herself, but most of them look Turkish or maybe from somewhere else in the middle east.

I might also add, the girls that I was/am close with from Austria, may have been different than the typical Austrian girl because they were raised by Brazilian and Turkish families. The way I see my girls family works seems much different than many western cultures. The mom stays at home and is a straight up house wife. My girls closest siblings (23 & 19) live at home still, and they don't see much of a reason to leave because their mom cooks them 3 meals a day and life is good for them there. They have a really close, and big family (5 siblings). My girl is much more feminine than most girls I've met from that region I.E. Germany or Switzerland. She is so submissive and warm, it's almost hard to believe she grew up in a German speaking country. The Brazilian girl spent a good amount of time in America as well, I think it kinda corrupted her femininity a bit, but she was still a cool ass chick regardless.

Thanks for the input. It does seem tho that Austrian girls with a Turkish background do not really mix with other Austrians... just my observation.

I grew up in that part of the world and all the natives hate most imigrants from southeastern european countries (and I'm from an imigrant family myself, although from a more 'accepted' country).

Most of them also don't really ever assimilate with the Germanic culture and still walk around with covered hair. The general conscensus among central Europeans (Swiss, Germans, Austrians) is that they'd be better off without people from the Balkans and Turkey (which I highly disagree, no German Swiss or Austrian person would want to do the jobs they do). Therefore most of them just stick to their own communities.

It's less common among Serbian and Croatians, but definitely happens 95% of the time with Albanians and Turks (and other arabs).

Now to the OP:

I find Austrian women to be way more open. Especially the ones from Eastern European descendency who grew up in Austria are amazing (czech, croatia, slovakia). Native Austrian women by themselves are a bit less masculine than Swiss women but still get beaten mostly by the Germans (taller, skinnier, better legs, surprisingly mostly more feminine)

According to what my girl says, the Turkish were looked at similar to how Americans in the west coast look at Mexicans in the German speaking countries about 20-30 years ago. She says now they fit in well to society. I take that with a grain of salt because she is Turkish. So yeah, I take your word for it. She doesn't cover her hair or anything like that though. I think that is the older more traditional Turks like her mother (Which her mother doesn't wear it either, but some of her mothers friends do). She doesn't even really believe the Koran and hardly considers herself Muslim, just born into the religion, like I was Christianity. Her family even goes to Christian church on occasion. But at the same time, she hangs out with all sorts of different people. Yes, it does seem a majority of her friends are not Swiss, German, or Austrian, but Zurich seems very international, and who wants to hang out with the Swiss anyways? They are typically pretty boring people. But same goes for good looking Mexican girls in the US. It's not like people aren't gonna hang out with a hot woman just because she is Turkish. I know plenty of cats who don't like Mexicans back home in Vegas, but they wouldn't pass up an opprotunity to go out on a date with a nice 8+ Mexican girl. Yes, they probably hang out with more Mexicans, but it's not like they are completely off limits to white guys with good game.

I feel pretty much all the German speaking countries are pretty cold. I've met some pretty cool German people. But 90% of the Swiss people I met we just so cold and boring. They never want to have a conversation. I've met A LOT of Swiss people, and trying to talk to them is like trying to talk to a wall. I've only met a handful that were actually friendly and enjoyed having a good conversation. One of them's name was horris or something like that, he told me to just call him horse. He told me about how he backpacked through the states when he was my age and did work on farms for free places to stay. Probably the coolest Swiss dude I've ever met. He offered me his contact and said to give him a call if I ever ended up in Zurich and he'd be happy to lend me a hand with whatever.

I told my girl that I would try and learn German when I went out there. She told me it's not even worth it because everyone speaks English and that German is a cold, and nasty language. She says even when you are talking about things like love, it doesn't seem like you are talking about love because it's just such a cold language. She is native in both German and Turkish, but she says if she had a choice, she would have wanted to be native in any other language than German.

hasn't been my experience at all with austrians especially not the women. traveled there about a year ago and hooked up with this dark haired girl (probably a 7 by most standards) and she was pretty easy for me too.

so many people associate germans, austrians, and swiss with all these negative stereotypes of being cold and disconnected but from what i have been though i have not seen any of this behavior. Most westrn men i have known have had the most success with women of central europe as opposed to italian, spanish, portuguese, french, and even scandinavian women.

what makes you say that austrians are coldest to outsiders?

To be honest, the Germans are usually pretty friendly, but as for the Swiss, it's not that they are mean, they just aren't very warm. 90% of the ones I met would only give the simplest and shortest answer they could give when you asked questions. They were never interested in asking anything about me. I haven't met many Austrians, and I'm dating one, so obviously I have a pretty positive outlook on them. To be honest, when my girl speaks German, it really doesn't sound all that ugly. She has a really soft voice and from what quit a few people have told me, Austrians speak the nicest German. One thing I really like is she is a girl I can take seriously. That's hard to find with these latin girls here, especially the Colombian ones. For the most part, they act so young.

Yeah, my girl was telling me that there's a place in Germany where you can only go if you are American or know someone who lives there and it is guarded by American troops. She says Snoop Doggs uncle lives there, and he's actually the one that got them in. She says there's a pop eyes and everything in the little area. She says it's like a little America in Germany.

Well I may be speaking for myself but most Austrian girls I met really like ski and if you are a skier and you know anything about their skiing turf they become really friendly and it's a great conversational starter. Being Canadian definately helps though, they seem to love any country covered with snow and mountains. I met a girl in Slovenia who lived in Lech near Kitzbuhel and she invited me to stay at her place to ski, definately worth it as it isn't that far away from Ljubljana. Other than that I was invited to a party in Vienna and while everyone was drinking there were ski movies on their big HD TV playing all evening, lots of these girls were 7-8 but they were from Salzburg though. I'd say people from Vienna are way colder than anywhere else in the country and were far from the most interesting or better looking girls.

So yeah, I'd say, learn to ski or learn anything about it and you should be good for at least 30 min of conversation about ski with the girls from the Alps in Austria (which are the best looking in my opinion ), then you can switch to any topic with relative ease.

Salzburg girls seem pretty friendly to me. The Bavarian Germans are also much warmer than the northern Germans.

I went Austria for a ski trip this winter and it was a great time. Of course, it was a tourist area so things are bound to be different. But overall, English was spoken readily by everyone, which was very refreshing, especially because in Germanic countries they usually can speak English but are either too shy to try or just pretend they don't know how to speak.

Also, everywhere served excellent pizza.

But like most Germanic countries, the people travel and stay in groups, so good luck with that. However, there were some ski areas nearby that looked like they had potential for good nightlife and lots of chicks. I'll explore those next time. And I will see if I can remember the names.

Overall, everyone was much friendlier than in Germany, but tourist places are likely to be different than the norm.

In Switzerland (and Germany to an extent), it's all about social circle, it really is.
Maybe a bit less so in the younger chicks, but good luck getting anywhere with a cute girl > 25, without some kind of social circle intro.
Am not saying it can't be done, of course it can, but it's certainly a tougher challenge than in many other European countries.
Once you are 'in' with a social circle, the Swiss in particular are incredibly friendly, and the Germans too really warm to you much more when they know you through social circle.
I have less experience of Austria in this respect, but it feels again like social circle is the way to go, or you'll end up orbiting on the periphery, with less opportunities.
