Just watching an Arnie classic. Raw Deal, things just as far back as the mid-80's were so much different.
- No 'strong', 'sassy' female characters, that would add nothing to a film like this other than a diversity and equality quota, that we see in modern action films.
-Frequent lines which would today be deemed sexist/misogynist but that are in actuality playful jibes.
- A strong, no nonsense lead male character, not metrosexual or 'quirky' enough for today's society.
At one point, Arnie says to a henchman: "If you're the best they're is, the wheel would never have gotten invented". That wouldn't be allowed now as it implies men were solely responsible for the progress of civilization???!!!!
I could go on, but, you get the gist! 80's America just seems entirely different.
