Thanks guys!! I appreciate the support, the book has been selling really well!!

I think at my peak I was up to 19,000 on the kindle, which is actually pretty high.

I can't wait for some reviews from the manosphere....

Goals for 2013: A 2nd book, organize a decent NYC meetup, and a more professional looking blog...

Thanks

He means sales rank. A 19,000 sales rank in kindle is about the equivalent of selling 4 kindle books a day.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! MY FIRST BOOK!

Alright, I finished the book.

I did not realize that The Captain was a well known bodybuilding guy (at least on the net). Based on the pictures in the book, he certainly appears to know how to get swole. Much respect. You're pretty much the same height as me, but my body is nothing like yours. Maybe you can help? [Image: smile.gif]

Now for the book review. Captain, I hope you take this criticism in good faith, because I think it will make your book better.

First, I think you need check the book for spelling and grammar. There were too many spelling mistakes, and, since you are a native speaker, there isn't much excuse. There were also a number of grammar issues mostly relating to poorly worded/constructed sentences. Please hire a copy editor to improve all aspects of your prose. Many times it reads like stream of conciousness text that flows awkwardly.

Secondly, the book appears to be an amalgamation of posts from some forum or from your e-mail chains. I think you need to put more effort into organizing this material into thematically linked chapters. Otherwise, it's just a semi-random collection of topics presented in no particular order, and it makes the whole thing seem cheap. The book IS cheap, but I still feel it is reasonable to expect substantially error-free material.

Thirdly, you clearly know a lot about diet, working out, body building, etc. but, you do not really convey your knowledge on the page, or at least not as well you could convey it. Yes, it's all covered in many other places, but maybe you have your own unique spin on things. It needs to have more specific workout content, more diet content, and perhaps a seasonal program (i.e. Feb-Apr do X, June to Sep do Y).

Fourthly, I think the stories were good and for the most part funny, but they were lacking a certain emotional depth. I think that is just a function of writing style, and I know writing well and with impact is not easy.

In summary, I think you have a lot of good material, but you need to work on the writing, some of the content, and overall organization of everything to get something really solid.

I've read about halfway so far and I pretty much agree with Menace above. I love all of the anecdotes from NJ and the beach from childhood to your more recent days (macking on the billionaire's wife), but there does need to be some additional proofing and rearranging before the book is ready as a final edited copy.

Guys, thanks for the constructive criticism I am definately looking for some feedback...

For my 2nd book I will take everything I hear from your guys into consideration. I thought it was well proofread, but I've had about 3-4 slight complaints already, so step 1 is hiring a professional.

Sales have been pretty good, but I was surprised by two things:

A) How many women liked the book (several of them my friends of course)

B) And how many people want more in depth info regarding bodybuilding, and less about "game"

The only problem I have with discussing bodybuilding online is that I get TONS of "hate". I signed up for bodyspace.com, and it was TROLL city. I couldn't take it anymore.

Captain,

For your second book or second version, with any discussion of body building PLEASE be as specific as humanly possible.

I thought it was a fair effort. I enjoyed the content and advice that was presented throughout the book. Although there were some errors, it didn't take away from the advice portion of the book.

However, I found myself skimming through a lot of the personal anecdotes. And I expected some extraordinary tale involving coked out midget sex orgies with the billionaire's wife at the end...but hey...it is what it is right. Fair effort CaptainPower!
