Norman Mailer in the Lion's Den

Norman Mailer is about as alpha a public intellectual can get. He was married six times. He stabbed one of his wives in the chest, but she declined to press charges against him.

Feminists hated him and his books. As the feminist movement was gaining acceptance, he published a book, The Prisoner of Sex, that defended the differences between men and women. After its publication, he agreed to participate in a town hall meeting with the leading feminists of the day. It was made into a documentary, Town Bloody Hall. I haven't seen the entire thing, but here are some clips from it.

"There is an element in women's libertation that terrifies me. It terrifies because it's humorless."

"Maybe there's a profound resevoir of cowardice in women that had them welcome this miserable slavish life."

"It's quite natural for lesbians to center on women's liberation."

Mailer and his overblown ego can be obnoxious, but he handled himself well here.

I'd love to see something like this now where the current generation's leading truth speaker goes head to head with the feminists popular today. The feminists have certainly gotten sillier and uglier as time has passed.

I found the entire documentary:

Greer- cunt
Johnston- batty
Trilling- boring
Ceballos- meh, although marriage insurance is a good idea (for men)

The feminists mostly peck at Mailer, who doesn't flinch despite everyone in attendance wanting to see him fail.

The last question is the most interesting to me. A man asks what would sex be like in a feminist utopia. Greer snarls back that he shouldn't worry about it because he's not going to get any.

Greer also has another bullshit point earlier where she basically says don't criticize us for not having figured out the analysis. She's admitting that the entire movement is making it up as they go along.

The shit about feminism and lesbians is spot on. Western society in general seems like a haven for lesbians the more I think about it. They probably have an impossibly easy time scoring one night stands with straight women as it currently stands. I haven't done much traveling but I think that even though men in more conservative societies are open to threesomes and watching girls hook up, we probably encourage outright bisexuality/homosexuality in women more than other cultures.

I don't think this would work well today. Women at the town hall would probably start assaulting the opposition speaker. The debate would last about 5 seconds before the chicks started stamping their feet and crying.

I really don't think a man can debate with a woman.

It's like the thread post here recently of the guy catching his girlfriend banging another dude. He played his cards well and she stamped her feet, called him a jerk and stormed out anyway. FFS the guy just got cheated on and she calls him a jerk. Probably telling all her friends that he is the cheater now.

It is my firm belief that women are intellectually dishonest and when I am a boyfriend I never try to educate them when they are wrong. I just walk when it gets bad enough.

Unfortunately there is only one America and no exit.
