Jesse Ventura Planning to Run for the 2016 Presidency?

Has this been posted about yet?

The guy is such a kook but he's likable, and some shit he says seems on point. But I have a hard time taking him 100% seriously.

Apparently, he's seriously considering running for office. Thoughts?

I would think he'd be considered a security risk for all of the campaigns on his TV show to expose government secrets.

Jesse Ventura confirms possible 2016 Independent presidential run

He added that it would be a “wild affair” to become a genuine president and not belong to a political party.
“When I was governor, I didn’t accept any PAC money or anything and all those special interest money. Did you know for four years in office I never met once with a lobbyist? Lobbyists were banned from my office. I told my staff I said, ‘I don’t need to meet with a lobbyist.’ I said, ‘They didn’t elect me, therefore, they get no audience with me.’”

Beyond All Seas

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes
frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Kipling

He won in Minnesota, why not the presidency. If I were american, I'd consider him if his platform made sense.

This is guy that minted the expression that "Religion is a crutch". That might work in the fairly non-religious northern USA but nationally? This guy won't even be a contender...

Unless you're on the red team or blue team, a 3rd party candidate best hopes in a presidential election is to be another Ross Perot or John Anderson. Which depending how you poll nationally will give you a slim chance at being able to debate the Republican and Democratic canidates. But in this current political environment Jesse Ventura would need to spend in the high 100 millions to get any sort of message across and there would need to be real disillusionment from the voters on the prospects of the other canidates.

Ventura is smooth.

My favorite moment on Fox news ever is when he smacked around Sean Hannity.

Great example of Real Alpha over Fake Weesh Alpha.

And a great example how a bully always folds (we have had a few of them on this forum and they have always folded as well.)

Ross Preot had the big money to self-fund his campaign to keep up with the Red and Blue teams. He will make a splash but will be unable to gain traction nationally.

Are we still under the delusion that "the People" really have a say in who will serve as POTUS?

He's too blunt and honest to be president. They will run old tapes of him talking during the campaing and that will kill him .

Just watched this. This must be one of the best videos on YouTube.

I don't live in the US, so I hadn't heard of Ventura, but by gee, this man is genuine, articulate, intelligent and it looks like he holds opinions based on experience / studying off his own accord (rather than just reading off a teleprompter / re-sprouting what some adviser has told him to say). He seems to tell it as it is, without cheerleading for either side.

Why aren't more men like this leading countries around the world?

Definitely out of the mainstream, but I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. He's right on the money when he talks about our current two-party system being the problem. I laugh at both my Democratic and Republican friends who trust their parties to do the right thing and try to bring about any sort of meaningful change in Washington. I think his interest in conspiracy theories and what now will be a huge liability, however. Right or wrong, I hope he sort of leaves that behind if he's serious about making a run at the Presidency in 2016

The only reason he would do it is for financial gain, that is all he is about, all this truther bullshit is a means for him to con paranoid schizos out of their hard earned. Anyone who takes him seriously needs to get some perspective, "You haven't hunted until you have hunted man," coming from the UDT frogman who never saw combat, the guy is a grade a fraud/conman, keep looking he is not your messiah.

If I were American, I'd vote for him. He'd be a proper leader with real opinions. AND - I think he actually would get rid of the lobbyists.

Hannity said he was going to ask him NEW questions, then proceeded to backtrack into 9/11, terrorism, hammering Obama, etc. etc. then accuses Ventura of rehashing it. Typical Hannity.

Honestly, candidates like him are hardpressed to win a Presidential election, but they serve a purpose. They don't have the burden of winning, so they can strip away the bullshit and actually draw out the other candidates on certain issues. For that reason alone, you want to see Jesse Ventura on the campaign trail, and on the stage at debates. He's good tv, so they won't be able to squeeze him out.

I've listed to his Stern interviews. He comes across as a complete kook and seems to subscribe to every conspiracy theory out there. But he could easily move away from his more nutty comments just like every other politician. I'd vote for him just in the hopes he'd burn things down even faster than Obama.

Hell if Arnie can't be president, then it better be Jesse.

I'd vote for him if I still thought the POTUS had very much to do with the way the country is fundamentally governed.

Who would you support as King or Dictator? That's a much more interesting debate.

God no. There are some things that need to be cleaned up, but his conspiracy theories seem to be focused in all the wrong direction.
