just made it tonight.

i am staying in the mitte district from tonight until january 2nd.

will post my thoughts and observations as much as possible.

basically, my strategy right now is to look for polish girls, since poland is so close.

also, if anyone can recommend good daytime and night time hang out spots in mitte, i would really appreciate it.

gonna do my own forum research too, of course.

You're such a so short time there & the city is so huge, why only focus on polish girls?
Most of them will be germanized anyway and nothing like actual polish girls.
For some reason polish girls in germany (atleast in my region) tend to be buttugly, and I know alot of polish girls, really.
Berlin is a international city, it has tons of tourists & residents from all over the world, be open for more.

i actually am also interested in meeting german girls, i want to find out if i am "compatible" with them. i am american but my parents are from latin america, so i am "warm", and that is why i originally liked girls from spain, they were "warm" but also sophisticated and european, or so i thought.

now i am thinking that spanish girls are closed minded and unambitious, i am actually turned off by most spanish girls, and the spanish culture in general. in contrast, i admire germany, their culture, and their international success. i like girls who are smart, sharp, serious, open minded, accomplished, and with substance, not girls who are silly and airheaded and ditzy and close minded. however, i also like girls who are feminine and delicate, so who knows.

anyway, my point is just that i am very open to meeting a german girl, since i admire the culture, but i wonder if they will be too "cool" for my taste.

I think you'll meet your fair share of german girls compatible to your style.
Just try to hit up places where the locals/germans go. You could always ask some locals on the street for infos about those kinda clubs and maybe even get a meetup through this.
Beware of the styled up girls with a bitchy look, tons of makeup and tanned skin, those are the kind that will laugh you off their shoulder and will not have a nice sophisticated discussion with including a hookup, they also don't have that intellect you're looking for .
Instead go for the students. Ask for places where students hang out. There you meet the open minded, down to earth and talktative people you look for.
You can definetly have a serious discussion AND some love with a german girl at the same time.
It DEFINETLY is a advantage if she can see that you're intellectual to some extend.
Recently I seriously was discussing with a german chick about physics and the hicks boson , and at the next moment we were making out while she grabed my dick.

But beware, don't expect that much of feminity, although it is getting better a bit and the style of german girls definetly got better & more feminine over the last years. Probably more so in a hipster and multi kulti city like berlin.

As a side note: I've heard alot about Berliners hating on spaniards in the last time, because they swarm and supposedly kinda shit up the place (you'll probably see alot of them), so you might be better of saying that you're from america, not spain.

yeah, that might be the trade off. i have an american friend living in a smaller city in germany, he has a very pretty and docile german girlfriend. she isn't exactly super feminine or anything, but she is docile and pretty.

in contrast, the really feminine looking girls i have met have been mostly south american (colombian, venezuelan), but they are also sneaky and manipulative. i would prefer a girl who is a little less feminine in appearance, but more honest and truly docile, over a very feminine girl who i can't trust!

hey that's a good point. i think there is tension between germany and spain, am i right? i think the germans are getting tired of the greeks, italians, and spaniards, and i know for sure that the spanish don't like the germans, not as people of course, but at the national, economic level. the spanish are jealous of the germans.

well i am ethnically from peru, so i usually say that that is where i am from, the girls in paris loved that.

Yes and no. Alot of spaniards and spain in general benefit from germans since millions of germans spend their holidays in spain as it is their favourite travel destination. but they also invest alot in real estate.
But yes, there's also some economic tension recently due to the crisis, but it's not a that bad influence since spain still is generally seen in a good light and the hate most of all is pointed towards Greece.
Although as I told you, Berliners have a special relationship with spaniards .
They (spaniards) aren't that welcome cause they come in big loud groups and tend to seperate themselves from their surrounding. They're kinda disrupting the german ORDNUNG (orderliness) and thus bugging the german mind whenever they show up. You'll probably see some of that while you're in Berlin.

Saying that you're from Peru will gain you positive points most likely. Girls will open their eyes wide and be very interested into you and your story ( how you did end up in Berlin).

Maybe someone here will give you some inlook about Berlins Nightlife and which places to hit up for your style.
I would but I can't since I don't live in Berlin.

Easier said then done.
Half the club goers are foreigners, may they be expats or tourists. There are bars in the suburbs, but you'd still have to contend with the ubiquitous expat.

Male to female ratios are atrocious, generally at 75%. At least the guys aren't much competition. I've never been in the highend venues and that might be the problem, but quality of talent is exceptionally low. We're talking hords of 6s or lower wearing frumpy clothing and beanies, often brits or americans. The only good news is that SNL are exceptionally common.

Speaking anything but German is in fact a display of lower value. Spaniards aren't the only ones that are looked down up.

i can see that, actually, germans feeling superior, just like i've been told that japanese feel superior. it's not easy being successful in this world, and that is made even more difficult if you feel in any way inferior, or not "top". the germans and the japanese are very successful, and that would go along with a certain cultural arrogance.

I just recently spoke to a guy from Berlin who told me that people in Berlin were tired of all the tourists and of those who are moving there in masses, including not only foreigners but also Germans from other parts of the country. Since the city attracts so many nerds, hipsters, alternative people and people doing "art" etc. the locals can't stand it anymore.

Regarding feelings of superiority - I generally find the people from Berlin to be rather open and liberal.

today is the day i find out how much local talent berlin has. i walked around on the 24th and 25th, but those were holidays, so i am giving the city a pass. the streets of mitte were mostly empty since everything was pretty much closed.

A friend of mine moved away from Berlin to London last year. He said the city is overrun with foreigners and he got tired of what he called the "hipster-invasion".
Also got other partners there who like it very much. Its a big city after all.

Definitely one of the best spots in Germany but I do notice Berlin gets heavily overyhyped lately.

i walked around mitte for several hours today. i talked to one girl. i really didn't see too many more single girls that i wanted to talk to. saw two gorgeous blondes, but both had dates, and aside from that, saw a bunch of asians groups, and a bunch of women covering their hair. the people are not as stylish here. and the girls simply aren't that great looking.

let's see how it goes tonight and the rest of the week.

for now, berlin is getting a big thumbs down.

Berlin is hyped for it's nightlife. If you want to party, dance and do drugs, it's a good place to do that. It's "so good" that a few clubs were open for christmas eve and christmas day, the turn out wasn't too bad either.
But while there is sometime a correlation between a city's great nightlife and great pussy opportunities, the first does not cause the later. Some nights I'll go home early demoralized by the girl quality.

Rivelino: Mitte is actually where you have the best chance of seeing decent talent during the day. Kinda sad.

@thejew excellent point. Berlin DOES have a great nightlife (if youre into techno music and drugs), good logistics and is or at least used to be pretty cheap.
but that doesnt really count for much if the girls are ugly (which they are). girl quality throught germany is pretty low as it is, but the prevalent berlin alternative/hipster style doesnt really help to improve the situation. IMO if youre into pussy youre well advised to stay away from Germany alltogether. the hottest girls in any German city will be foreigners so you might as well go to their respective country of origin for hunting.

so i walked around mitte today, was getting disappointed by the quality, finally ran into a good coffee shop with a good buzz and young people around -- a lot of things were still closed today, the 26th. i really just went in to warm up, it was freezing outside.

the girl behind the counter was cute, and so was the other girl behind the counter. i actually started talking to both of them, told them i was a photographer from new york, blah blah, bounced one of them to the bar across the street after her shift ended, got the make out, but no lay.

the bar we went to had a good number of good looking girls. it seems that there *is* talent in mitte, it just is sort of hidden, cause it's so damn cold.

branimir, i was rereading what you wrote, and you were right. this girl was a law student, 27, relatively intellectual and artistic -- and foreign born. she was from iran, and has been living in germany about ten years or so.

i later talked to two other cute students. one was studying law, the other nutrition. both were 26. these are good ages.

three days later, having a blast in berlin. mitte is great, lots of cute girls, not as many as paris, but i am liking it. i joined okcupid and had two dates in a row, one last night, one tonight, both were strike outs, but i like the vibe here overall.

i have a lot more to write but i am tired.

i am learning the cool places in mitte, though, gotta do a full writeup when i'm done.
