Men In Tights: 'Meggings' Are Taking Manhattan By Storm

I used to sell chiffon printed skirts imported from India on Dead tour, and some of the customers were men.

Some of the customer would give me a sly look and explain that whenever they put the skirt on they got laid like crazy.

I've heard the same story from guys in Bali who wear sarongs.

@Soup- You for one:

Can a forum dedicated to getting pussy knock Rick James?

Of course we can't. Plus Rick James was mad ill.

And he did tons and tons of drugs. So I am with him on that.

Rock stars can wear anything they want. They get a pass. (Although I may still revoke it if we happen to be in the same bar at the same time.)

The guy making lattes at starbucks for a living does not.

Hell, I think Perry Ferrel did wear a dress sometimes.

This is interesting. So, I think I understand this thread more as an attack on poseurs (or in incongruency in PUA terms). The guy at starbucks who wears meggings doesn't have the right because it is indecorous. That said, when that guy goes out to a hipster club in Brooklyn to swoop on some model pussy, he'd better be peacocking like a rockstar.

It's like the preselection thing; demonstratively surrounding yourself with the trappings of a high-value man can generate massive interest and possibly attraction in a club environment where there is so much competition. I know because I've gone out wearing some flashy shit that would look fucking retarded during the day. But, at night, I had girls opening me up because of it, or how I was rocking it.

Yeah, kind of.

But here is the thing, that I have said more than once:

A guy swooping fly girls in glittery shirts (or insert gay clothes here) is still an guy wearing a glittery shirt (or insert gay clothes here).

A guy swooping an equally fly girl in a Custom Suit wins.

The only thing better than winning, is winning with style.

If someone told me I can get 10 girls by wearing tights, I am still not wearing tights. I don't adapt for girls. They adapt to me. No compromise.

Meditate on that for a while.

Yeah, but what is style? Too me, style can come from inside as well as outside.

I read a book called "Impro" about improvisational theater, and in it they talk about how they worked with masks. Every year, they'd have a new crop of students using the same masks from the previous years. Interestingly, the students would produce the same characters from the masks year after year. Each mask had it's own character and personality, and would come to life when worn by different people.

I think that fashion can operate like this in some ways as well. You can wear something that makes you feel more like a particular archetype you are trying to channel.

I don't think it's one-size fits all.

For example, I'm not huge muscle guy, but when I wear my leather biker jacket in the bar, other guys tend to stay out of my way more.

On the other side of that is there could be a guy who is the big muscle guy, and it might work against him if he came with a biker jacket looking too tough. It might look corny or try-hard.

So, style is about finding the right thing for you. What can you wear that will help you get what you need?

Maybe a custom suit can come off try-hard in certain situations. Are you going to wear a custom suit to burning man? Ha- maybe that would actually work well. But, you see what I'm trying to say?

I think the key thing to what you preach about suits is the word:

CUSTOM

Everyone here should be customizing what they wear as much as possible. Customized style reflects intention and social intelligence. I agree that suits are a classic look for men, but there are other styles that can be employed. I do customize my look to optimize the ease of swooping. But, it's not about adapting to appease girls- I bet on finding a look that makes me stand out or helps me feel more present as a huge boost to my game. This makes the whole process more graceful. And, what is more stylish than grace?

Been rocking the leggings for awhile, most comfortable shits ever. So much easier to get off than the super skinny denim and not to mention they're only 20 bucks a pair compared to the 60 or 70 bucks you'd spend at Topman. Did I mention all the awesome patterns too?

Men’s tights, for so long the preserve of ballet dancers and runway models, are taking Manhattan by storm and could soon be seen on the street of Britain.

But “Megging”, as the male legging is known, is now all the rage in sartorial circles. Celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Russell Brand and Lenny Kravitz have all been spotted wearing leggings, while fashion stores Uniqlo, Barneys and Nordstrom are selling tights for men.

This just kind of makes me think that the 80s and hair metal is coming back. Which would be pretty cool.

Where did that come from?

No. I don't. I actually like that sample.

They are mad soft though.

KRS-One punched them on stage at an award show back in the day.

That was dope.

Back in the day, we used to snuff people that were wack.

Today's generation embraces the wack. They love being wack. They can't get enough of being wack.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, if Vanilla Ice came out in 2000, he would be the biggest artist in the world today, having enjoyed a 12 year career.

In my experience, peacocking > custom suits. My single ugliest piece of clothing gets me more female attention and approaches than any of my fine threads. They see it and think, 'ohmygod, this guy must be amazing if he's wearing that.'

The appeal of the custom suit is in its grace, subtlety and elegance. Those qualities get short shrift in most places where people are loud and intoxicated, and the lights are dim. You'd get more mileage out of running drug game than wearing custom suits.

And I love nice suits. I love the idea of fashioning an identity and melding how you're perceived by toying with what you wear. But nice suits don't elicit much response.

PS, G, do you ever wear fur?

While wearing tights is pretty bad, better to have the freedom to experiment than be forced to conform to something staid and uniform. Freedom doesn't guarantee the results will always be desirable. I'd rather live in a dynamic place where men can take risks instead of some hellhole where the slightest deviation is punished.

I wear eccentric clothes all the time, and I'm rewarded for it.

Question to the forum:

If wearing "meggings" or other girly clothing got you lots of positive attention from hot bitches, would you wear them?

There's nothing inherently unmanly about leggings or tights or even skirts-these were what men often wore for thousands of years.

I will say that I wear a kilt a few times a year and it gets me far more enthusiastic female attention than any other item of clothing I wear

Really depends on the location. I pretty much always hang at places where Suits are beneficial.

Here is the thing with Suits that most people don't grasp; it is not all about girls. It is about operating.

Beating lines, getting in venues, getting your drink quicker, getting a better table, etc etc etc.

I have done both extensively, and you could make this argument. Personally, I have done better with Suit Game, believe it or not. But I did Drug Game when I was younger, so that effects it.

And I love nice suits. I love the idea of fashioning an identity and melding how you're perceived by toying with what you wear. But nice suits don't elicit much response.

No.

Although, I used to have this legit Pimp type jacket, that I think had fake fur I used to wear back in the day. I swooped mad girls in that thing.

It was kind of classy-Pimp. And legit. Not gimmicky.

Men In Tights: 'Meggings' Are Taking Manhattan By Storm

A few years ago, after a graduation party, I hit the town with some of my friends. I was dressed pretty formal and we got this big-ass tie as a present. Because I didn't wanna wear it, a friend of mine came up with the idea to tie it to me like this(the thing with mayor written on it)

The attention I recieved was amazing, and i'm not exaggerating. It was so much and I was so not used to it, that I didn't know what to do, but the lesson and the experience stuck with me. Something similar also happened on a vacation where my friends pulled a prank on me, writting shit with the permanent marker all over my face and body while I was passed out drunk.

Peacocking works, but wearing "Meggings" is retarded.

Don't want to hijack - this is on topic somewhat...

Where would I go in Toronto for some nice but affordable threads? Classics that aren't too in-today-out-tomorrow that will last me 5 or 10 years. And not much money to spend so a nice outfit for under $200 or so would be great. Something that looks great and stylish without looking overdressed like every Friday is New Years Eve.

Any ideas?

You come to w'burg/bushwick and you will understand. Looking like a rockstar will get you laid around here. There are underground parties where you will find models and an assortment of slutties.

Actually, I'm surprised Roosh hasn't hit up NYC. If he grew his beard out a little more and rocked some more hipster clothes, he be killing it around here.

1970s saw guys wearing crazy flamboyant clothes. I like this kind of thing.

BTW just got back from Zara with a slick grey suit. Will be rocking this at high profile event I'm playing next week.

Gmanisfesto, if I don't get girls throwing themselves at me, we gonna beef [Image: biggrin.gif] Just kidding. No, it looks great. Definite status boost injection. It even comes with a fake pocket square. I think the pants also show off my dick.

Actually, if I had the bankroll, I would be rocking custom tailored suits everyday too. I like the suits Nucky wears on Boardwalk Empire. I'd also get some more crazy ones.

Yes, there all kinds of styles around here. But, don't show-up in douchebag bridge and tunnel gear, or you will be ignored.

Dressing up around here just makes it easier to get attention.

All the hipster stuff is a diluted descendant of punk fashion and counter culture attitude, being mad at your parents etc.. But, now, real 1990s brooding is out of style, but the 1990s are coming back into vogue, just without the angst.
