None of these comments bothered me. Well, OK, they bothered me a little bit, because I want everyone to be won over by my genius insights. But there are loads of dissenters on every column I write, so nothing about this situation was particularly unusual.


I was slightly more annoyed, though, by the few comments that suggested I was being disingenuous—that the headline and my stridency were evidence that I didn’t actually believe the horseshit I’d written. Instead, I was just being controversial for controversy’s sake..."

I've noticed we can sometimes be quick to call troll here sometimes, and as the full article states, much the way the term "political correctness" has been re-defined, so has the troll and trolling. Now, anytime someone blurts out something and other challenge or disagree, people will call troll instead of simply disagreeing and debating. It's a long, but interesting piece...

el mech likes to troll Neil, Ali likes to troll choche, almost everyone likes trolling Brian, IRT likes trolling everyone here, etc.

For me, trolls are not really those guys who post nonsensical stuff on inflammatory issues (conspiracy theories, abortion, aids, blah blah blah) and then watch the heated discussion while fanning the flames, but rather people who go on blogs to complain and rage against something without ever providing any argument other than their own anger.

In other words, almost all game denialists.

Well there's acceptable trolling and then there's outright douchebaggery trolling. Then there's our duty to troll someone who's being an idiot. Reverse trolling if you will. Mechanico has made a career out of it. In DR he was causing Ali to meltdown every 5 hours.

It's just called Meme Generator (Free Edition). Works like a charm and takes all of 10 seconds to create a meme. Very simple and quick. Love it. As for the avatar, have you ever seen that show "Finding Bigfoot" on, I think, Animal Planet? Don't, it's god awful. But the guys name is James Fay. He is insane. A guy that's been chasing Bigfoot for like 20 years or something crazy like that. Joe Rogan had him on his podcast not long ago. It was epic. Think of everything women might find attractive in a guy, and then think the polar opposite. That's James Fay.
