It happens over and over again. You have a great conversation with a girl. She's laughing. You're enjoying it. She's enjoying it. You're about to escalate.

Her friend intervenes:

"Do you want to get a drink?"

She pulls your girl away.

Now I can understand the friend interrupting if her girl is clearly not having a good time - she needs to be "rescued" from a "creepy" guy.

But why cockblock if your friend is clearly laughing, chatting and having a good time? If your friend is still there talking to the guy after 10-15 minutes and she's laughing, clearly this guy isn't creepy right? Or she would've walked away 10 minutes ago.

I'm convinced that without cockblocking my lay count would be tripled.

All my successful hookups have happened when friends haven't got in the way to cockblock.

I hear that girls in Europe don't cockblock and will even help hook you up their girlfriends. Mind blown.

Sometimes it's jealousy of the girl in the crew that's getting the attention. Sometimes it's just cluelessness on the part of the cockblocker, and her girl doesn't check her for fear of upsetting her. Sometimes it's the whole, "We're not out to meet guys, but to enjoy each other's company" thing.

I had one girl tell me ... one girl out of the group(usually the fat one) cockblocks because she is the conscience of the group.

My theory is because you're not spreading your attention around evenly to the group. So if one girl feels left out she'll cockblock.
You have to work the group of girls equally and the Alpha Female will choose you. She's usually the prettiest anyway.

I can't deny the jealousy factor, but I think another critical component in American style cockblocking is that girls don't trust themselves to make good decisions when they go out. It's common for girls to get hammered, not just buzzed, when they go out. And they recognize that a drunk girl out at the bar is in a vulnerable position. So they go in these huge groups because then there always will be someone sober enough to babysit them when they get stupid drunk. If a girl didn't get so drunk, then she wouldn't need a pack of seven other bitches to watch her back.

When I was in Brazil, I never saw anyone showing any obvious signs of intoxication such as stumbling around, shouting loudly, or vomiting. I also saw much more girls out in pairs and much less cockblocking too.

They do it out of resentment, jealously, etc. They don't like it that your hitting on their obviously hotter friend and not them. I've heard one girl say she sometimes wished she had uglier friends so she'd basically feel better about herself, or get hit on more.

Trying to understand female cockblocking is truthfully doing the same as trying to understand an aspect of the female mind. While I believe all reasons above are good reasons & contributing factors that cause an actual cockblock, you'll never be able to pinpoint the exact reason(s). Some may apply to one girl & not another. Other things to consider are how a girl was raised and what are her social and econonomic backgrounds? Sometimes depending on the wealth and shit she got away with doing when she was younger, a girl might continue those bad habits into adulthood with everyone around her she doesnt like. We could do 50 threads on this topic alone and still be left scratching our heads.

There is no solidarity between women as there is between men.For example if a guy hits on a hot girl his friend is unlikely to occupy him in order to fail.This does not happen with women.There is always one girl taking care of the others rescuing them when a non approved by the group guy tries to hook up with them.Later girls are grateful for the intervention other times they are angry.
In some cases the girl can try to help her friend hook up with the guy if he finds him approved or if she wants a secondary benefit.Sometimes I have to buy drinks for the whole group in order to buy some time with one of them.Other times I have to flirt with all of them.Even one girl giving the cold shoulder can be enough for the whole pick up to fail.
