Local guy came up to me multiple times talking shit while I was talking to a couple of girls.

I was trying to make a decent impression with one of the chicks, so bit my lip each time (which only encouraged him to keep talking smack) since I was silent.

I took the girls to a different club, isolated my girl, made out, got her number. Then said I had to go home.

Went back to the original bar and jumped him ground n pound style. What a shitty evening. Last thing was his girlfriend screaming "You're responsible for this".

Unfortunately, I got the guy's name and a quick check on Facebook reveals 60+ mutual friends with the guy. Small country, oh well, there goes my reputation.

He had it coming. Is there a way on FB to block him so he can't find out your real name? Cover your tracks here. What did you do to him?

Depending on which country you're in, this may increase your rep.

Just watch your back for the next month or so in case he tries to retaliate.

I understand why you did what you did, but why not just have let it go without going back there?

Him and his buddies looking for you next time or the cops don't scare you as much as your "rep", huh?

If you whooped his ass 1 on 1, and you didn't cheap shot him, then fuck it. Guy shouldn't have been running his mouth. It's his fault. He should have minded his own business. You will probably catch a bit of bullshit for doing it, generally from dumbass bitches running their mouths. Nothing new there. Dudes will respect you more though and want to be your friend.

He's not going to do anything -- I know his type and his crowd.

There's a very small chance he gets some buddies together for payback. But this isn't Russia -- knives and lethal force probably won't come into the equation (at least I hope not).

And I had to confront him because this is a small town and I was certain he would talk shit about me again (esp to girls) if I let it go. Now, he'll definitely have things to say, but I guess I'll have to live with the consequences.

Still kind of wired from it all but I better try to hit the sack.

Wow, I wish you luck but you never know what a guy will do after a beating. They normally go away, hope he does get a mob and come looking for you.

Why did you go back to beat him up? Were you drunk? Why did you think it was worth it?

Hopefully he doesn't pull a Tong Po on this guy. Even though the other dude instigated it by talking junk.

I know you're being sarcastic, but yeah, pretty much. If he let the guy get away with it, he would continue to do it. Then what do you do? Start avoiding him? Let him dictate where you spend your weekends? Let him punk you whenever he sees you talking to a girl? Nope, not gonna happen. You have to put a stop to it and let it be known that shit won't fly.

In a big city, you can let it slide and probably never see him again. But in a small town, like he is in, you have to handle it. I know, my home town is 7,500 people. This is a weekly occurrence in my town. Hell, I got into a fight last month outside the bar in my town over similar shit.

At the risk of being unpopular, I would err on the side of letting this shit go-it's not guaranteed he's going to continue to be a problem. Maybe just have been drunk or something. Pick your fights more carefully than based on one drunk guy on one night. . . . there are too many of them-on average better to just move on.

If you're not a citizen there, this sounds like a not very smart move. I worked in the criminal justice system for a long time and there's a lot of guys in there for fights that went too far. They often explained they were justified cause someone was talking shit or "being a fool." ONe has to question the judgement of who is the fool when he is the one sitting in jail.

The skull is only 1/4 of an inch thick and if one little blood vessel in there breaks while you're proving your manliness, you may in for decades of problems.

Especially if you hit him first, there's witnesses and your excuse is "I didn't like the way he talked to me."

That kind of thinking is viewed as criminal thinking, and those who do it are viewed as dangerous criminals when someone ends up dead.

Yeah I can see where you're coming from, but OP's outside his hometown in a foreign country in EE. If he knows the culture and justice system there well and knows that he'll get away with it then great, or else aside from worrying about retribution, he'll be known in that bar as "that foreign guy who came in here and started a fight". That is, if they allow him in after that.
