Mansplaining

Quote:Quote:

This election season, the idea of "mansplaining"—explaining without regard to the fact that the explainee knows more than the explainer, often done by a man to a woman—has exploded into mainstream political commentary. Hugo Schwyzer over at Jezebel noted its growth in September, writing that it has "moved beyond the feminist blogosphere." And, sure enough, these days pretty much every time a male politician opens his mouth about so-called women's issues he is dubbed, like so or like so, a mansplainer.

First of all, you mean to tell me a woman has never done this to a man? Second of all, Hugo Schwyzer. What a load of shit.

Several Republican ex-candidates did themselves no favors this election cycle.

Never EVER explain to a woman DIRECTLY what she should think, or is thinking, or what she should know, or does in fact know.

It's a minefield in personal relationships, as well as in the political realm. Deflect, tease, obfuscate, but never tell directly or answer a question directly either from a woman or ABOUT women.

Questioner: Do you support a woman's right to choose.
Bad Answer: No, I am pro-life, and women who abort are killing unborn life.

Questioner: Do you support a woman's right to choose?
Good Answer: You know this is a difficult subject, and people of good conscience have differing opinions and as a man, while I have my views, I just don't think it is helpful for me to tell others what they should do.
