Many people see creatine and NO and think 'OMG STEROIDS!'

This sounds plausible. I've had someone tell me about the dangers of "steroids" in the past when I was talking about Creatine. So yeah, the data is useless, and so the article is trash.

Shame, because I was hoping that 40% weightlifting figure was true.

I have seen mostly something in the .4-.8 g/lb range recommended by legitimate sources, the high-end being for serious athletes.

I personally count calories while managing micros and the quality of the food itself. I pay attention to protein but as long as you're eating meat, fish, dairy, nuts, etc. it's not hard to get a good amount through your diet. I worry more about getting too much protein than I do about getting too little.

What 's you impression of what's bad about too much protein? I think I read it turns into glucose, basically I guess fat if you have too many calories overall?

Too much protein in your diet makes your body acidic. Acidic translates to diseases and premature aging. That's why it's very important to have fibre and LOTS of water.

Talk about timing, I wrote a post 2 days ago on this forum about too much "hating" in working out, and now the NY TIMES drops this bomb...

I only read the NY TIMES on sundays at my parents when I go over for meatballs, sometimes their articles are really good, and sometimes they write the most beta, leftist, articles on the planet.

Don't be to surprised if the supplement industry is under attack at some stage. In Australia there is a massive drugs scandal surrounding professional sports and knee jerk reactions from uninformed journos like the one in this article are likely to have a shot at supps. In Oz they are a booming industry and have recently removed DMAA from a number of products. They have just started a dob in a drug cheat hotline, for sports.

how often do you see guys squatting 400+lbs white knight? Or heavily into boxing/MMA etc)

Uh, pretty often actually. Every time you go into a gym, you'll see big dudes 'white knighting' girls. It's white knighting because they wouldn't follow around some pencil neck dude doing air squats and donkey kicks with him, but if it's a chick, Holy Fuck! Lay out the red carpet son! Unless you are training her to get a bigger ass, there's little reason to bring a woman to the gym.

Although in a lot of cases, they are her personal trainer and are getting paid by her (in money) I used to know a few dudes who did that.

They got money, pussy, and got to work out.
