An atheist president?

Just curious. As a Brit - I wonder if America would ever accept a President who was openly an Atheist?
Do you think that is possible? Or is not believing in God the last taboo in US politics?

Too taboo. If you noticed when American Presidents first enter office they join a prominent church in DC. Democrats typically stop going in the first few months, but Republicans have services in the White House.
