More access to the internet = more sex ?

This article is about teengaers with smartphones

However is it fair to say that, as a general rule for everyone, more access to the internet = more sex ?
(or at the very least more sexual oppurtunity)

More sexual opportunity if you know how to use it, nothing more. Even then the quality and work you have to put up isnt normally worth it. Live, on the spot gaming through whatever methods will always be better for your personality because there isnt a screen you can hide behind that gives you time to compose your thoughts instead of coming up with witty banter and good game on the fly.

More sex for women. No effect on men.

Trying to get laid online is a terrible return on investment compared to talking in person, at least for men.

I read a short version of that article/study elsewhere. My feeling was that if you drill down into the data, though I didn't, you'll see that smartphones haven't had any effect on the sexual success of most people. The mean and median will be very far apart because the increase in mean sexual activity is being driven by a very small number of people having a lot of sex. Maybe female sluts and "Alpha" guys to some extent, but much more gay men with no sense of history who use apps like Grindr to hook up for annonymous sex. In my opinion, if Grindr really is the phenomenon it's said to be, resulting in dense and extensive networks of men having unprotected anal sex with each other, we are headed for a replay of the 1980's.
