Already great data on Kiev so I will add my take here which will give the thread a slightly different perspective.
On my first day in Kiev I loved it! The capital of Ukraine and yet the centre felt like a 3rd tier city. It has a much homelier feel than a major city and everything was on my doorstep, I love big cities but it was a welcome relief after Moscow. I started hitting the clubs that very night but after only 1 week I couldn't wait to leave. The nightclubs I had been told about were a huge disappointment compared to Moscow. So the second week I pushed myself to make some daytime approaches and to my surprise the ones that spoke English hooked instantly. Things were looking up. I had 2 solid 8's on rotation for the remainder of my stay with no resistance from either thus saving me time and energy to suss out the nightlife in-between .
With regards to day game there were not enough targets during the day to make it worth while wondering around aimlessly for hours on end. Between 5 and 8pm is the best time to catch people on their way home from work. Surprisingly there are quite a few thick girls on the streets. Cute faces but chunky. But on the whole I could not complain because I often found myself muttering under my breath about the high quality of girls in general.
So being the party monster I am I was on a mission to find where it was at. I made contact with a guy on the internet who set up kiev based fanzine who told me the best clubs to go. He mocked me for going to places like Vodka and Buddah bar. I knew the vibe was off as soon as I entered those places but I didn't know any better. At that point I just thought Kiev was full of Turkish guys, gold diggers, silly little teenagers and middle aged women who still dressed like it was 1984. The problem with Kiev is that clubs open and close in the bat of an eyelid. All the places that I had carefully researched before my trip had since been shut down. Patipa, baby face etc… to name a couple. So as soon as I started venturing outside of the centre a little a whole new world opened up where clubs and bars played good music, and normal attractive, educated women who spoke English talked to me like a human being and not just a walking cash machine.
Surprisingly now I rate Kiev as slightly better than Moscow, but perhaps this is more for logistical reasons and the fact everything is more affordable. Even though I think Russia has more genuinely beautiful women, Ukraine has it's fair share and because the city itself it is quite condensed it just makes life more easy. I was no longer taking evening naps like I had to in Moscow just to recharge my batteries.
Since there is already a lot of info on Kiev I will make a short list of nightlife options I can remember that make a change from the usual misinformed tourist nonsense.
Lets start with debunking some of the tourist traps:
Vodka bar - Yes it used to be a cool venue but It's hay days are long gone. This is a cheap bar with an awful layout. Full of horny turks and slutty munters. Terrible music that will make you want to tear your ears off and just general overall negative atmosphere. I do not recommend. The weekend was only slightly better than during the week if you want to see for yourself.
Buddha bar - Looks alright on first appearance but ultimately just No.
D'Lux - Zzzzzzz, lame… next.
So things start to get a little more interesting. I went to 2 or 3 bars with girls in the old town but I swear even though I asked them to repeat the names of the places to me like 10 times I could not remember them. They were completely untrodden by tourists but on the down side I did find that the level of English dipped massively in some of these more obscure venues. At times I felt like I as in another city all together. Russian needed. Therefore I will break down a few places that are still pretty central but still worth a visit:
Shooters - A famous crazy expat bar. As much as I want to diss this place because of it's tackiness - it's actually quite fun if you can get past the dumb ass doormen. It's not pretentious and it has a really sleazy fun vibe about it. It is very popular with students with plenty of talent around although some of them have that gold digger mentality and will probably expect you to buy them drinks. This happened to me on a couple of occasions and whilst I like to buy girls drinks it has to be on my terms… not when they ask for one!
But overall cheap thrills and horny fun times… Go on an off night like a Tuesday or Wednesday. Weekend was a sausage fest. I got a SNL from here with a flight attendant from Odessa. A 6.8 but in for a penny.
Disco Radio hall (I am not 100% it is called this) - A taxi ride out of town. I think its on some kind of boat. This is how I Imagine Ukraine back in the 90's filled with crazy slutty slavic chicks dancing on bars and stripping naked. It was a halloween party that night so it might have been an exception but it was truly a night to remember. It was too crazy to hook up but lot's of bumping and grinding made it worth the trip.
Food tourist - Maybe my favourite place located in the Arena complex. Cool alternative club with great music. Busy dance floor. Average to hot approachable girls. Another SNL from here from a 7.1 but what the hey.
Gastro Rock - A good pre warm up bar about 10mins cab from the the centre. Good old fashioned rock/alternative music. Really pretty - 'well to do' girls. Less than ideal layout with mainly seating but most people are up and dancing by 1am. Empties out around 2 ish.
(These 2 places above have an excellent menu if you are a foodie)
Divan bar - Hipster/rock bar. Good for a quite drink, date or just to hang at the bar and talk to a few locals. Has shit live rock bands

Mantra - House music club. Kinda hipster and had some nice girls but also a cliquey vibe. Everyone seemed to know each other which is not cool if you are solo.
Boom Boom room - Same deal as above. Not really that fun in all honestly.
Ikon bar - Couldn't quite work thi place out. It's an odd mix of hipsters,beautiful young girls, turks, gold diggers, models and just plain normal people. Deep house music if your into that sort of thing. Not a bad place to go for a pre drink. Had some interesting encounters here … one guy here offered me his wife because she took a liking to me. She was hot but I declined because quite frankly I was scared for my life. Got a number of a model who was excited about me being from London, almost got a date but ultimately flaked like 9's always do. One day I swear to god!!!
Sky bar - I was dubious of this place at first with the high level of 9's walking in (and 7's being turned away) plus the high cover charge, but I was recommended quite a few times from various girls so thought it worth the visit. I went on my last night and was pleasantly surprised. Sure it's a bit mainstream but there is nothing below a 7/8 here and most of the girls who spoke English were friendly enough. Collected a couple of numbers but annoyingly I had to leave the following day. Shame cos this place had a lot of potential. If you have a lot of swag and enjoy slightly more upmarket places and want to try your luck at banging 8's and 9's I recommend this place. Here I saw one guy in his early 40s with 2 stunning 20 year old girls with each hand on each of their suple young asses whilst standing at the bar. He left with both of them and I went home feeling a bit depressed.
Props to Slubu for his data sheet - it was pretty bang on with regards to the women and everything else. Just not the nightlife in my opinion. And like he said there are a lot of 9's and you can feel yourself getting close but you have to be prepared to strike out a lot and persevere. I can say this is the first place I have been where I really wanted a wing man since a lot of girls were in 2's or small groups or looking for an after party. There was no cock blocking at all going on because generally speaking all the girls were decent looking looking so didn't have a chip on their shoulder. It would just take the pressure off hugely if I could comfortably approach 2 or 3 girls at the same time rather than trying to weasel my way in to taking to just one.
So in a few words, 6 and 7's are in abundance for good times, 8 and 9's are still hard work but plentiful so it's worth it if you have plenty of time here. Definitely on my radar for a return visit after I have blitzed a few more countries.
