Plot to attack Federal Reserve in NYC: Suspect thought he had 1,000-pound bomb, authorities say
By Jonathan Dienst and Shimon Prokupecz, NBCNewYork.com

Updated at 8 p.m. ET: NEW YORK - A suspected terrorist parked a van packed with what he thought was a 1,000-pound bomb next to the Federal Reserve building in Lower Manhattan and tried to detonate it Wednesday morning before he was arrested in a terror sting operation, authorities said.

The suspect, 21-year-old Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, is a Bangladeshi national who came to the U.S. on a student visa in January for the specific purpose of launching a terror attack here, authorities said. He allegedly told an undercover agent last month that he hoped the attack would disrupt the presidential election, saying "You know what, this election might even stop," according to the criminal complaint against him.

"He clearly had the intent of creating mayhem here," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters Wednesday, saying his actions went "way past aspirational."

The complaint said Nafis wrote a statement claiming responsibility for what he thought would be the Fed attack, saying he wanted to "destroy America" by going after its economy. He referred to "our beloved Sheikh Osama bin Laden" in the statement, which was stored on a thumb drive.

He also proposed various other targets beyond the Fed building at 33 Liberty St., just blocks from the World Trade Center site, prosecutors said. He considered targeting a "high-ranking U.S. official" as well as the New York Stock Exchange.

Kelly said he knew who the official was but refused to name the person, saying only that any details not in the complaint would be revealed in future court proceedings.

Nafis, who lives in Jamaica, Queens, attended Southeast Missouri State University for a semester, studying cybersecurity as a sophomore from January through May 2012, a school spokesman said. He sought a transfer to a New York City ESL program and left Missouri after the spring, according to a law enforcement official.

He allegedly sought out al-Qaida contacts to help him, unknowingly recruiting an FBI source in the process. At that point, the FBI and NYPD began monitoring him as he developed the plot, prosecutors said.

An undercover FBI agent posed as an al-Qaida facilitator, supplying him with 20 50-pound bags of what he thought were explosives to use in building his bomb. Nafis also visited the Lower Manhattan site multiple times as he planned the attack, officials said.

Looks like the FBI have been at it again. Recruit some dumbass, bust him, and then tell Americans how wonderful the security state is and how very afraid everyone should be.

I wouldn't say that the FBI "recruited" him as an example. There are already enough actual would-be terrorists in the USA that make it redundant to recruit for the purpose of scaring the public.

Also, under the First Amendment, people have the right to say they want to blow up certain buildings or attack the government(as long as no action is taken towards these "aspirations"). If they nabbed him right away, he would most likely have been freed because there would not have been anything illegal with what he was saying. The FBI weeded him out of the few who are actually trying to commit a terrorist attack and gave him fake goods to catch him in the attempt. By acting anonymously as the willing supplier in these cases, the FBI prevents actual facilitators from supplying the terrorists like this guy with real weapons/explosives/etc while also being able to safely take him into custody without any worry of him escaping prison time.

Wait a minute.

The Fed is destroying the American economy by itself with extended near zero interest rates and unlimited QE.

Wouldn't destroying it actually be helping the American economy?

*Note* Does not support/condone the destroying or blowing up of the Fed with a bomb or other such device

The feds are very careful about avoiding entrapment. The undercover fed probably started pretending to get cold-feet and asked if the guy was sure he wanted to do it. Once the guy decided to keep going at that point he was fair game. They sell people fake explosives all the time.

This is par for the course of how the FBI conducts its domestic "counter-terrorism" program.

Basically, they eavesdrop the fuck out of the entire Muslim community, both online and in real-world settings like mosques and cultural organizations. The FBI has moles planted all over, and they are instructed to sniff out young men who fit the profile of terrorists. The mole will then throw them some bait, talking shit about the U.S. government and voicing support for jihad. If the guy responds positively, the mole will continue to feed him bait, and begin the process of entrapping him into one of these phony terrorist operations.

The end result is the FBI trots out the suspect and brags about having thwarted some terrorist mastermind, when in reality most of these dudes were bumbling wannabes who couldn't build a model airplane, much less a bomb, even IF they had access to bomb making materials. Which none of them ever did. The FBI always provides the (fake) explosives.

It's pretty much a joke, and all it does is serve to drive the real and dangerous terrorists further underground. But it plays well on television, keeps the population nice and afraid and ensures continued expansion of the FBI budget. So mission accomplished.

The FBI has to invent terrorists every now and then to justify their Pork'd up budgets. There has actually only been two countries to successfully launch a terror attack on America on its soil/sovereign property (Embassy bombings removed) try to guess whom they are?

Back on topic:

This is the re-occurring theme in all of them. This dude was nothing more than a idiot/pasty whom did not have the capacity to carry shit out on his own.

Remember the first World Trade Centre Bombing in 1993? It was facilitated by the FBI also. Only in those days they carried out the plans versus now they hold off until the last minute to bust shit. They tried to again supply some dude with a bomb/supplies/materials but he was slick enough to recorded the exchanges which he then used to protect himself in court and released them after the blast came out. Though his defence was shaky, especially against a loaded court the logic is there. He could not carry out these attacks without FBI help and they had every chance to stop him along the way and the didn't.

Quote:Quote:

Law-enforcement officials were told that terrorists were building a bomb that was eventually used to blow up the World Trade Center, and they planned to thwart the plotters by secretly substituting harmless powder for the explosives, an informer said after the blast.

The informer was to have helped the plotters build the bomb and supply the fake powder, but the plan was called off by an F.B.I. supervisor who had other ideas about how the informer, Emad A. Salem, should be used, the informer said.

The account, which is given in the transcript of hundreds of hours of tape recordings Mr. Salem secretly made of his talks with law-enforcement agents, portrays the authorities as in a far better position than previously known to foil the Feb. 26 bombing of New York City's tallest towers. The explosion left six people dead, more than 1,000 injured and damages in excess of half a billion dollars. Four men are now on trial in Manhattan Federal Court in that attack.

In 1993:

The FBI knew about the Bomb
The FBI proceeded to let him build the bomb
The FBI knew the bomb was to be delivered

They blew up the building up anyway. They did not know they were being recorded and really I don't think would they really cared. Still to this day with all this evidence the FBI denies they did shit. Fuck them. These guys don't care about fuck all but their own interests.

The FBI has: shipped crack into South Central, LA, ran guns and drugs for the Contras, started the largest Opium racket since the days of the British and Chinese in Afghanistan, set up booby traps for Americans, smuggle guns into Mexico to help aid Drug lords, and lastly run false flags which end up killing Americans, all for their own gains. They really do not care about the American people - they do their own thing.

In today's time they just cut things off before shit hits the fan. But all of these "terror busts" are all 100% scripted. How the hell can a IRT whom can't even get a date plan a elaborate scheme to blow up one of the largest Private Banks branches in the world. Nations, Royalty and Oligarchs all have their Gold/assets stored in the NY FED and it is the largest FED bank in the FED Bank System.

You have a better chance of blowing up the White House then blowing up the NY Fed.

The FBI selling him explosives has zero to do with entrapment under the law. It's entrapment if they suggest any part of the crime to him, he can order whatever parts he wants.
