cheap place to learn kitesurfing ? Dominican Republic vs Hawaii

Hey guys, Im interested in learning to kite surf but im having a hard time to figure out where to learn. Dominican Republic seem like a easy choice but looking at how much hostels cost ( $30 a night ) and flights ( $700 RT ) , but the upside is, it cost about $50 a day for lesson.

ive also been looking at a a week in Hawaii, I can get a RT flight for $420 and a week at a hostel would cost me about $200 [Image: confused.gif] But kite surfing lessons would be expensive [Image: angry.gif]

Im looking ot book a trip in early April before I have to go back and find work .[Image: dodgy.gif]

Kona and Lumerie would be the guys to ask, but I am sure DR is cheaper.

And I am sure an easier place to learn for you are a beginner.

I found a cheap studio to stay at, $490 a month in DR. Just have to find a cheap flight. Not paying $700 + for a short flight

DR

The cheapest kitesurfing lesson I found in Hawaii is $175 for 2 hours.

Which hostels did you look into? They probably are nowhere near the kitesurf lesson spots. You'd need a car to get to them.

The other problem is the waves. Right now they're huge. I hope they still will be in April. I don't know how that affects kitesurfing.

Aloha!

I plan on going to DR now. I found some good schools + lodging for about $600 a week . You get 4 days teaching and 3 days supervision. Right on the beach too.

I plan on doing this trip in October now though. Im going improve my swimming and buy a kite trainer for the next 6-7 months. And maybe take a lesson down at the gorge in the summer.[Image: banana.gif]

This tread makes me wanna be a beach bum so bad

Thats way too much $$$$

Just get a cheap flight to DR, get your arse to Cabarete and spend a few hours walking along the beach talking to each of the schools.

You should be paying no more than 40 to 50 dollars per day for the lesson including guidance and equipment hire

Rooms should be no more than 5 to 10 dollars per night at a school.
