Moderation: Golden Mean

Any of you read about Aristotle and the "Golden Mean"?
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_mean_(philosophy)

I've always been an extreme type of guy (all or nothing), but I'm trying to moderate.

The trouble is, how do you motivate yourself to be moderate?
Like, "Yeah, I'll quit my job to live in Thailand to bang all day" sounds fun....as does "I'll workout 'till I'm Arnold Swarzenegger big"

Supposedly the moderate, balanced man is happiest.
Who's big on moderation?

Some say the Greeks were so enamored with moderation because they had so little of it.

If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.

It can be a glass half full/half empty kind of thing. Sometimes its getting the best of everything, other times its getting nothing in each area of life. Perhaps this is why...

I'm all for moderation in all things... including moderation. Broad experiences give you context, deep experiences give you mastery. Having some of each is (for me at least) the way to go.
