Assuming you guys are looking for a place with easy access to nightlife, great food and pussy I would recommend Brazil specifically Rio or Florianopolis. Slubu, you're from Cali so you probably don't jones for sun and sand like those of us freezing our tits off during the northern US winter but little can sooth the soul like having your toes in the sand, cold beer in hand, while watching an endless parade of tan buns bounce by on a Brazilian beach.
Much has been written here on Rio but logistics wise it is perfect for a 1 week booze/babe getaway. You don't need a car, you can walk to the beach (get an apartment in Ipanema or Leblon) and the Cariocas love to get loose. For NYE thousands of people head to Copacabana beach dressed in all white for a beach party lasting all night. If you do go to Rio make sure you make an effort to go to Barra de Tijuica. This is an awesome beach to the far west of town where a lot of young professionals live. Not many tourists make it over there and it is the home beach to some of the sexiest bodies I have seen in Brazil (especially on weekends).
Florianopolis has gotten much more expensive over the years but it is home to 5-7 wonderful beaches that are crawling with many babes 18-25. I highly advise checking out Praia Mole (surfer beach, steep grade, pretty strong current), Praia Brava (chill vibe north coast of island), Jujere ( high end, north west coast, soft white sand, model types with attitude to match) and Praia Joaquina (east coast, huge, wide, surf, great variety). A car is required because you will want stay in town and the beaches will be a 30-45 min drive. Nightlife options change with the wind but let me know if you guys care and I will tell you what my experience has been.

Excellent stuff. For NYE period...esp Dec 26th-Jan 8th, etc..I'd recommend Floripa. I was there Dec 18th-24th, which was fun bc I got to explore all the neighborhoods/beaches but all the beach parties on Jurere Intl are from 26th-Jan 8th. It's kinda best to visit Brazil at first, make connections, friends and then plan for a group trip to Jurere Intl bc you can rent apartments/hotels in that area. The only place that was open when I visited last year was Taiko as it was open, but it was pretty friendly & flirty despite the model-esque women...if you speak Portuguese. I'll definitely hit that place up around Dec 2013 along with Balneariu de Camboriu as I'll be in Mexico/Spain end of this year. While I got to explore the island the first time, I'll just spend my 2nd trip in Floripa on Jurere Intl for 3-4 days at places like Cafe de la Musique, P12, and Pacha during peak season of course with a group.

As for Rio de Janeiro, Barra da Tijuca is SO where it's at now. The nicest cleanest beach in Rio city limits as the clientele there is much more attractive than the mainstream ones that cater to tourists. Rio as a city is pretty cool as I enjoyed the overall city infrastructure, safety, efficiency, Pao de Azucar (Sugarloaf Mountain) and cheap eats. I avoided all expensive restaurants & nightlife bc not that great anyways. A good place, but it doesn't really seem to offer enough for a city that possesses one of the more expensive rent costs in the world. It's geographically similar to Hong Kong, but more expensive yet doesn't offer as much.

What's a decent one week trip from California after Xmas to be abroad for NYE? Reykjavik? Thailand? Montreal? Mexico City? I'd like to skip Europe since i was just there.

May be doing Montreal with Toronto Kid, otherwise I'd like to head to Dallas, Texas for the Lights All Night Festival, which sounds pretty awesome,. Not being 21 may be a huge disadvantage there, so maybe not. However I'd be going more for the music than anything.

Your right ahah, I'm just looking into it now, I wanted to see Swedish House Mafia live before they retire and this came up since I can't make the shows in Canada in Feb. It's just Axwell but better than not seeing them at all. Here's the trailer from last year.

Bro, I did Lima last year for NYE thinking it would be good. NYE was a Saturday. First, of all Thurday and Friday before it was dead, the hottest clubs in Larcomar were empty, I thought maybe people were saving it for NYE. NYE wasn't much better. I did get a bang from a girl I met the nite before. People told me that a lot of people go to Playa Asia to party on NYE which was why city was so empty. If you could befriend some locals and get an invite for a house party in playa Asia, that might be the move. Sorry for throwing cold water on your plans. But I really hope it's better this year.
Actually I briefly considered trying again thus year mainly just cuz it's so cheap compared to other locales. You can ball for a third of the price of what it would cost you in the US.
