Back when I was an expat in Kiev ,2001, the line was easy to cross. Infact it was done often without effort. For example sometimes you didn't know the girl had a pirce tag until much later. Also it seemed all the kiev girls were for sale in some way or other. Either for money, food, passport. I wasn't a sex touist . However i had no issue letting the cab driver grab a 9 dollar whore for me when I left bar drunk and emptyhanded .These girls weren't professionals, they were normal girls. Often it justified them cheating on boyfriends,etc .Girls were cheaper than 2 mc donalds value meals.
Lately they are protesting sex tourists and it sems to include all foreign guys who wander clubs,bars, streets looking for girls. Regardless if for free,money or to become wives. Alot of guys gave us a bad rap. Stag parties don't help. Sad really. A decade ago it was considered normal and cool for foreigners to chase tail.

Sadly, nowadays if you tell someone you're going to anywhere in EE or Southeast Asia (GOD help you if you mention Thailand), it's assumed you're going there to fuck hookers, regardless of whether or not you mention women. In many cases, they'll probably assume you're going there to have sex with kids.

I think thats only the american perspective though. Aussies who are obviously a lot closer to southeast asia are all over those countries, women, young dudes, couples, so the stigma isnt as strong. Also, i ran into swedish families and couples all over thailand.

I wouldn't say it's something particularly American. Here in Germany, the rumours also exist, though mostly in the form of jokes.

Also, I think this mainly applies to men travelling to these locations alone. Of course, no one will make comments like these about couples or families visiting Thailand or the Philippines.

Instead of being frustrated with being hated, I've now made it a goal.

Since anyone having fun is hated, my goal is to be hated by the EE people when I'm in Murka, and hated by Murkans ( especially the MurkaWhales) when I'm in EE.

No one will ever call a women going off travelling to 'poor' countries by herself a sex tourist even though they are often having more sex than anyone. In South America it was particularly true, I knew tons of girls who were getting fucked every other night by local guys and when it wasn't local guys it was other tourists.
