Latin women and Dancing!

I wanted to open this thread up for those seeking advice on an often misunderstood venue to pick-up women - The dance floor!

I have emphasized on some posts the importance of learning to dance salsa or any other form of exotic dance, but salsa seems to be the dominant dance of pre-sex :-)

Learn to dance, and you have a huge advantage over those guys who are considered "creeps" standing around the dance floor just oogling girls!

Here's a good article I dug up:

http://www.bigtravelweb.com/travel/2009/...tin-women/

have questions? I got answers? From how to approach a latina with a dance move - to how to close the deal. w/o even saying a word and just using your body!

Enjoy the life!

I agree 100% that being gringo and knowing how to dance lands you LOTs of latin girls. This can sometimes trump not knowing Spanish well.

I also agree with some of the things the website link was saying. I really like that it encourages you to play up the being American bit. This is especialy true for us that look like we could be from those countries (brown,black,..etc). Girls will always be super suprised if you are American speak Spanish, can Dance, and treat them in a non-macho way. You will land tons of girls with that formula. That is what worked for me in Venezuela.

Yeah but it's a cost/reward kind of thing. Is it REALLY worth my time to spend however much time it would take to get sufficiently good at tango/samba/salsa/whatever such that it'll make, MAYBE, a moderate difference in my game??? We all know (or should, anyway) that game is 90% of it. How long would it take to get to YOUR level of expertise at dancing, armanid? If you come out and tell me that you've been dancing since you were 5 or some shit, I'm going to laugh my fucking ass off and completely dismiss this idea--not to be rude, but come on: if it's going to take me 2 or 3 years of 3-times-a-week dance lessons to get where your skill level is, you can forget it, man, it's just not worth it. See what I mean?

If I can get "good enough" in a few months time, then yeah maybe, but if it's going to take several years, then no it's not worth it. You'd be better off spending that time out in the field tightening up your game.

As with everything, it takes time, but dancing is something natural to humans, so it is not that complicated.
Another advantage of taking lessons is that you have a new playground to meet girls.

When I was a student in The Hague, some of my gfs started Tango lessons and wanted guys to go with them as partners for the lessons, after being almost harrrased to go by my then welsh FF, i went for some months and had a very high sucess rate with cute chicks in the academy, so i learned a few moves and at the same time I could play my "dance game" in a quieter place than clubs.

The thing is to never dismiss a chance to meet cute chicks, specially where you will be a minority (men are always a minority in those places)

Now salsa....i have a new acquaintance who is begging me to go salsa dancing with her on friday...i have other appointments already, so I am playing the card that if she brings another of her friends i want to bang, i might drop by...tonight both of them called me to ask me to go with them [Image: smile.gif]

dude you are sooooo funny! I laughed the entire time I read your post. Thanks! Needed that.

Ok- you do not need to be my level to see incredible notches pile up by becoming a decent dancer.

You see, I am Latin, as such, I am EXPECTED to be a great dancer. Now, for anyone whose language is not Spanish, you being a decent dancer PUTS YOU AT MY LEVEL!!!

If you have 2 left feet, and cannot even do a 360 degree turn w/o falling on your face. Then I'd say it will take you 6 months to become a very decent salsa dancer. Enough to get very positive attention, and new notches.

Dancing will not marginally increase your notches, dancing will exponetially increase your notches!!!

Dancing will get you laid at ANY social event - even the US or Japan or kazitskan!

It is not a waste or time or money. You develop a cool way to interact and socialize worldwide, you excercise, and you get laid.

I have swooped away girls from guys MANY times who simply sat and watched as their ladies were seduced by me moving them certain ways.

google benefits of dancing, I'm certain ayou will find dozens of articles that will open your eyes to a new world.

Again, it does not have to be Salsa, it can be anything from Tango, to bachata to Waltz or hip-hop. Salsa us however the mist popular, and sexual of all next to Tango.

Of course, game is important. Now, what happens when you're competition is a great dancer and a great pickup gamer? Why not have this as yet another weapon in your arsenal?

If you were to start today, you'd be in great shape for summertime parties in Colombia!

You decide. This is of course, just information sharing from one gamer to another who loves getting laid by beautiful women if all races.

Enjoy the life!

As a kid my oldest brother had to know how to dance twist for a school show. He learned it w/ 10 years old and later taught me how to dance the twist. One day in high school playground I started to dance with a girl (I don´t remenber the reason). Others girls watched and soon they literrally lined up to dance with me. It was like taking candy out of a baby.

Last year I tried Salsa for three months. In clubs I always felt like there was that point missing. Specially abroad when people assume that because you´re latin you have to know how to dance.
In those three months I learned the basic mooves in Salsa. Didn´t had luck in the classes though, all girls were non-fuckable except the teacher.

I agree with armanid27 100%.

There only so much time you can spend on your "opinion openers" and "negs". Ha.

Think about it this way: you might end up swooping your salsa teacher.

I have before, which has actually hurt my skills. (since I had to stop swooping her).

Looking to re-up on those skills here shortly.

I feel like a complete fucking idiot, and i now KNOW that i have really been over thinking this whole "PUA" crap, the greatest way in the world to pick up beautiful latin women is, of course, DANCING!....All this talk about Colombia and Argentina and Brazil....and nobody is smart enough to say...SALSA, TANGO, SAMBA....its so fucking obvious! I knew that in high school. "Negs", "IOI's", "Sets" blah blah blah. Thats comical compared to Salsa.

There you go!! Now you're getting it! I'm not suggesting that Salsa will/should replace your charm, fashion taste, and verbal skills to open, and escalate. Think of Salsa as one of your LETHAL weapons of seduction that adds value to your overall charisma.

I have rarely met a female salsa dance instructor who was not incredibly smoking hot!!! They dance for a living and for fun; just imagine what those tones legs look like in a thong! Ouuuch!

True story about last night:

I went dancing last night at a local spanish club here in the states. It usually was playing lots of Merengue, and a a few Salsa songs. This usually tells me that not many salsa dancers are here, otherwise, they would go elsewhere - but I had a hectic day and said fuck it, I stayed to see what I can make happen.

I did my usual scan, and picked a target - I dance a few Merengue songs in front of her to make sure she notices me.

** Merengue is not as sexual as salsa, it's more of a high energy dance that allows for fun, but definitely not sensual or artistic in nature as salsa.

FINALLY! ! A salsa song comes on - and the WHOLE dance floor clears!! Everyone sits down - I was in shock!!

So, I feared my target did not dance Salsa, but luckily she had taken a few classes and was able to follow nicely...

Now, at one point, the whole club is watching me move this sexy latina across the dance floor as if we were floating in air.

I made a few turns, whereas in one turn, my hands result on her waist, and I pull her towards me, and spin her, and I am waiting for her on the other side, almost kneeling on the floor, whereas I catch her by the back of her Knee, and pause for another routine...I can hear everyone just about clapping - lol...

Ok - I never met this woman before, hell I don't even know her name nor she mine - midway through the dance set...she is totally into me, smiling and having a really good time - the song ends...she pulls me in, whispers in my ear "Wow" - and kisses me.....she takes me to her table, and now I dance with ALL 4 of her girlfreinds while the 2 men they came with sit on their ass everytime a salsa song came on...

Needless to say, the original girl I asked to dance - asked me for a ride home....yeah, you know what that means...

And 1 of her girlfriends, gave me her number to "teach her to dance at her place"

This is salsa, this is your brain on salsa -- any questions?

Easy - tell her "Oh, great! I just finish taking my 2nd salsa lesson, and I could surely use someone to practice with - here, grab my hand, and let me show you a cool move I learned today you will love!"

Now, of course, don't do anything too fancy, you are not trying to embarrass her or show-off.

You can proceed to show her about 3 cool moves - and then follow thru with charm and silliness...make mistakes to make it look original!

This is the case where you play the fun teacher, and very exciting guy learning something cool and sharing it with her...

The rest - well, here is where your game kick in!

REALLY good thread!

What are the key sticking points to becoming a smooth salsa dancer?

Also, does anyone know how popular it is in Argentina?

It is Argentina that is known for tango more so than salsa.

Argentina is definitely home of Tango. Tnago is an increribly good dance to know and seriously impresses anyone!

However, Tango is an extremely structurized dance, requiring LOTS of discipline and practice that make take up to 1 year for a dancet at MY level to master. I woudl not recommend Tango for someone who is just being introduced to dancing and has 2 left.

Salsa, albeit still challenging, has a lower learning curve than tango.

Finally, Tango is not a dance that you would find at any latin club, you must go to a specially dediciated Tango club to enjoy it - whereas Salsa or Bachata or Merengue can be found anywhere, and is especially more poupular with the under 35 crowd.

However, I don't want to discourage you - you and opnly you must go where your heart and passion is...if its Tnago, by all means please do go ahead start learning it!

Learn something! Don;t just sit theer reading this thread for entertainment and dream all day.....GO NOW!

One of the very best dance studios I can recommend for anyone starting out is Arthur Murray - these guys are fun, very professional, and will teach you to become a bad-ass dancer in no time.

However, feel free to interview at least 3 diferent schools/instructors as you MUST feel comfortable with yoiur instructor and "click".

Bottom Line: Find a dance to learn, and stick wit it...

Practice, Practice, Practice....and then afterwards, Pratice some more!! This is the only way to become a smooth dancer.

Google Salsa events in your area, join Salsa Forums ask questions everywhere!

The salsa or dance community is a very fun griup always eager to teach and help newcomers!

My last recommendation - relax, and have fun....this is not work - it's a fun hobby that will take your already great game - to legendary status eventually!
