What pop culture references, name drops, or DHVs do you remember pulling off with chicks and getting you cred?

Someone in EE forum just mentioned how hipsters gab about 'The Wire' tv show, which i would have no idea. Roosh tweeted about some popular Lykke Li techno remix in Eastern Europe right now. I double downed in a convo a month ago by referencing that "Ai Se Eu Te Pego" song courtesy this forum. =)

I recently told a hippie that her homemade bracelets weren't as good as the ones on Etsy. Got that bug-eyed hamster look. She was inquisitive what etsy is and why i would know anything about a craft website. Boom- neg, knowledge dhv, and contrast game rolled into one.

sure it's fine to drop in a reference here and there to a show you're checking out or some great song you've heard lately
thing is it's easy to overcook it, i'd stick to two or three of these in a conversation, no more than that
i definitely overcooked things a bit with the last girl i saw, trying to DHV by subtly dropping names of previous squeezes into the conversation, on reflection it was probably a bit tryhard and lame
i've found out that funny anecdotes and some gentle teasing works better for me (unless you fluke on a pop culture reference that resonates with her )

As soon as the subject turns to films I'm in DHV city.

Why would you want a chick to see you as someone who browses etsy?

If she asks where you're from say a place like Hollywood.

Nope.
