So, how do foreign men do in small town America?

Curious to know what everyone thinks about a foreign mans chances in small town USA would be like? The weaker dollar has made it a viable option and worthwhile planning for.

Im tempted to travel through the South on the back of a bike for a few months. It will cost a bit, but rural and small town America seems to hold more appeal for me than New York or Miami to be quite honest. No intention of going for the women at all, I would like to see the US. Saying that, getting laid from time to time makes for a better holiday.

My thoughts though are that with so many people wanting to move to the USA a foreign man is nothing special at all and might be a hindrance.

Thoughts?

What "foreign" country are you referring to? Because the word foreign in itself doesn't mean anything. Americans tend to like Australians and those guys, especially with the accent and if they have a "surfer dude" kind of look can clean house anywhere in America. If you are from Bangladesh or Ghana, you might experience something different. But overall, I don't think there's anywhere in America that really cares one way or the other if foreigners are passing through on holiday. Americans are not hateful people and pretty used to different kinds of people for the most part. It's not like we're in some isolated corner of the world that never sees any other type of people. At worst, you'll be treated with indifference. You have nothing to worry about.

Like Speakeasy said, most small towns do well with foreigners "passing thru". However, I live in the South and small town people in general are very, very conservative. They are not very open to anyone for that matter that is not apart of there "clan" of people they grew up around and went to school with. You also may be in for a hell of a surprise by taking "there" women. It is very obvious when you are not from the town. When passing through my dad always told me, if the speed limit is 35mph go 33mph. The cops in those towns have very little to do and notice things rather quickly. If I were you I would limit my small towns to ones with populations greater than 10,000 people or so. I would imagine British, Aussie, Irish, German etc. would be accepted faster in smaller towns.

The "romantic ideal" of small town America does not exist in my experience.

"On The Road" was written a long time ago.

I have a feeling the Cajun parts of Louisiana would be pretty interesting to see, and if they're anything like their French-Canadian ancestors, they should be pretty open-minded to foreigners. The rest of the south (outside of Miami and the Keys), not so sure...

You might still get that experience in small towns in New England that still have their historic main streets and town hall meetings. Maybe in some parts of Pennsylvania, upstate NY and Virginia too. I've heard Ashville, NC and Athens, GA are cool little towns.

Me too. They have some culture there.

Yeah, I agree also. I have never been but I am a glass half full type cat.

I have driven cross country three times (back in my "transport" days) and I wouldn't do it again for the life of me.

In the US, a town with a population below 250,000 can seem small.

You might consider the big 10 college towns: Ann Arbor, Iowa City,
and so on...

They are small enough and pretty contained (b/c of the college aspect).

Being a foreigner in small mainland towns is the best way to attract women. Just go the speed limit and use your blinkers.

Mainland girls love foreigners, for example Hawaiians. That's why the men hate you.

Find bars with good looking white girls checking the ids. Watch her eyes get bigger when you show her yours. If you don't bang the id girl, at least understand that she will communicate to some of the other sluts in there that you are the foreigner. Gentleman's Clubs are great for this.

Aloha!

If I were a foreigner coming to the US, I'd avoid the small towns. Since the invention of the SUV and Wal-Mart, drive-thrus and box stores have replaced boutique shops and family-owned restaurants.

There are a couple exceptions, of course, but I wouldnt bother.

True, walmart has messed a lot of things up, but anyone looking for small town charm can certainly find it. I just googled "america's nicest small towns" and came up with this: http://www.smalltowngems.com/browsetowns.html

ps - just browsing through it, it's a pretty cool site. The site design is terrible but the information is great. I would like to find a site like this for south american countries.

I don't think being a foreigner in the US has much of an advantage from what I ve seen. There are so many different groups living in the US now that the novelty has definitely worn off.

I would actually recommend the big cities. Small town america doesn't appreciate other cultures that much. It's not that they are ignorant, they just don't really care about where you re from.

Ill second the college town idea and add that if you aren't one for the cold i would check out the ACC schools. Ive heard the triangle area of UNC/Duke/NC state offers a bit of all american culture.... culture being used loosely here.

One thing ive always wanted to do is travel from college town to college town east to west, of course this is before i met my first brazilian or indonesian....

I'm a European/Spaniard guy with heavy spanish looks like Antonio banderas - not that I look like him, just have his features like hair, Eyes, Color Skin, Aceent, and overall dress trendy. I went to several small towns surrouding Orlando for business: Maitland, Winter Park, Wekiva Springs. As long as you dress trendy, and look cool, and non-needy - I was raking in gringas in faster than Bill Clinton! They all wanted to immediately pratice spanish with me or Portuguese when I mentioned I live in Brazil or was originally from Spain. They all dream of visitng Europe and find Spain very exotic.

gringas are a lot of fun, and I find them to have the best sense of humor out of all teh girls in teh world - they love ot laugh, and love it when you make them laugh!! I love 'em!

I always use to say at bars, if you don't give this spaniard a kiss, I am gonna have to tickle you in front of all your gringa freinds until you do!

I ususally would bang about 1 gringa per week...sometimes I got lucky and got 2 in 1 week. They are not incredibly easy per se, but are definitely interested in banging you if you nudge them in the right direction.

Read Roosh's BANG book - it helped me understand gringas better!

Be very playful, and energetic - everyone loves that - no matter where you are from!

Enjoy the life!

I don't have too much experience in small U.S. towns, but my observations make me think that U.S. girls will typically fuck anything with an accent- especially Western European or Australian. Most guys that I meet in hostels, if they've spent any time in the U.S., tend to confirm that.
