City Slang

For all the people around the United States and abroad who speak English, what kind of slang do you use that's specific to your area.

I grew up in Hudson County, New Jersey and lived in New York. I know New Yorkers can talk slick. I recently went to Chicago and discovered another little mini-lexicon of words that they use to describe things.

Short example-

New York:

-say "&all that" after things.
-arbitrarily say "though" at the end of a sentence.
-"looking crazy right now"
-"wild" instead of "a lot"
-"grip" means "a lot of money"

and wild metaphorical speaking. Can people add to the New York list? What slang do you use? What are your favorite words in the slicktalker dictionary?

Chicago:

-Bogus means any fucking thing
-Lowkey e.g. "lowkey, i had sex with your mom."
-"Flame" means "really good"
-"trixie" means a certain type of chicago female

Can't think of anymore right now. What do you got?

In the northeast, we say "wicked" whenever we want to emphasize something.

"That was wicked fucked up!"
"Wicked cool!"
"Bitch is wicked hot though."

In Texas we have a few words but mostly in Dallas and Houston. Corpus we dont have too much regional slang. Brownsville doesn't have any, unless you count the Tex-Mex Spanish. So I haven't been expose to too much slang in the 6 years.

Side note: I smashed a little young lizard in Seattle last year. We were talking for a good minute and I didn't understand shit she said. Those Westcoast hoodrats seem to speak their own language or Im getting old haha.

The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

Oh I forgot in Chicago they say "treated". It can mean a bunch of things like you got burned, or beat up or insulted or disciplined.

"wave" means the demeanor you get after a couple of drinks or other substances.

I say "crunk" sometimes even though nobody says that anymore.. trying to keep that alive

I like wordplay, and keep my ears open for some slick words I can incorporate into my vocabulary. Sometimes people who take themselves seriously look at me funny when I play around with words but it doesn't bother me really.

Yeah, I've learned the flyest things from kids. I hooked up with a girl I met a party for a little while there, she was legal and still in high school. Funny stuff.

Where I'm from in NYC, a grip is slang for a gram of drugs, i.e coke, weed, w/e.

Brand new- When someone is acting in a way that don't normally do; i.e. Tony got a promotion at work and he's been acting brand new and doesn't talk to his friends anymore.

dipped-Dressed impeccably stylish, fresh, fly, etc.

cake: refers to a girl's ass and/or thighs

wops: oral sex

rice bunny: Asian chick who bangs black guys, equivalent to snow bunny(White girl)

My favorite, it is what it is: "fuck it" or w/e.

I'll think of more later

hypesession - is it "scrape" or "scrap" - down here in Miami the word is "scrap"

and "wave" is used here by few but including myself... "i'm riding the wave" "feelin' wavy"

Golden Boy - never heard that about a "grip"; i know a "grip" to mean more money than you can fold into your wallet

"cake" would be a verb. Like to mack it to a chick. "Ay you seen Matt?" "Oh he over there cakin'"

one last thing hypesession... lil jon agrees

Pignity - noun. The pride possessed by western women of being fat.

Example: "Jesus, did you see that cow wearing a belly shirt?" "Yeah. She must have a lot of pignity."

Similar to "dignity"
