First Solo Trip

I've been on some trips before, but they were with family or a group of friends and everything logistically and monetarily was taken care of so all I had to do was show up and look good. There's an event I really want to go to in Calgary at the end of the year so I have plenty of time to plan. The thing I don't have any of is a) travel experience and b) money.

The event is on a weekend and I would like to go a few days early (maybe a week) or stay a few days after the event (any input on this?)

Transportation:
- no car so the greyhound or an airplane is an only option. Flights are ~$150 each way and the bus is $130 round trip and 15 hours/way for the fastest one (20 for the latest). Flights are ~130 each way and are only a few hours.
- with the bus i could probably make stops in a few cities along the way and do some sightseeing and possible pussy pounding. this would also be more of a hassle logistically

Packing/Luggage:
- i have a decent sized backpack and if its a week trip at most I'd only need a few changes of clothes
- other than clothes i'd be bringing phone/kindle maybe a netbook, their chargers, toiletries, a separate bag filled with a billion condoms.

Accomodations:
- theres a hotel deal put on by the event for $100 a night. I'll be meeting with friends during the weekend/event and would probably be able to stay with them (possibly for free)
- cheapest places on airbnb are $30-40
- i have some friends and friends of friends i used to be close with but haven't really talked to for a few years there.

Thats all I've really got so far. How should I be approaching this, what variables should I take into account, any suggestions on the route i should take, how to go about pipelining chicks (do i tell them I'm only there for a week or what).

My goal for this trip is to have a blast at the event and experience a new place while fucking the 'local' girls. Data sheets on Calgary suggest its kind of easy, but yeah any help would be appreciated.

If Thursday, Friday and Sat nights are Gaming nights , try getting there by Mon, Tue start pipelining 2-3 weeks before you get there, Day game the hell out of Malls, Universities, collect numbers, go on dates in the evening. make an excuse like you are coming into town for a Job Interview.

Getting there :I personally would fly, just so that I am fresh when I get there, After 20 hr Bus Ride you will need 1-2 day recovery time.

Accomodation : Get a loft or single bedroom apt that is not shared, I have tried hotels and airbnb apts both, chicks are just more comfortable going to your apt compared to going to your hotel, You can tell girls this is your friends apt , He/She is out of town. Apt close to wehre nightlife is will give you rock solid Logistics which is where lots of us loose the bangs.

Luggage: Backpack ? are there stores like Marshall's, TJ Maxx where you are ? Also look on E-bay for a used luggage piece, when you start travelling , you are going to need one....

Happy Hunting and do report back with an updated Calgary Datasheet.

Depends what you want out of your traveling experience and future travel experiences. How old are you? Do you have the future desire to travel? If so, do you want to spend weeks in one place, or would you rather explore an entire country(ies)?

This will all dictate what kind of luggage you want to buy, the type accommodation you'll want, and the experiences you'll want.

Traveling solo is addicting. Having to engage every ounce of your energy to surviving and thriving in a place where no one gives a fuck about you is as close to a drug as you can get.

If your sole purpose of going to Calgary is to game women, then buy some luggage, get an apartment or hotel, pipeline, day game, night game and tell girls work has just moved you out here and given you a week off to acclimate, hence why you're on the street in the day and out at night. If at a hotel, just tell them that work has put you in a hotel and paid for it, while giving you a month to find an apartment.

My advice though is that if you've never traveled before, is to spend a couple of days in the top rated hostel in Calgary, and then venture into a hotel or apartment. You'd be amazed at how fulfilling spending a few days with like minded people in a hostel can be. You'll still have plenty of chances to game, but IMO cultural experiences, and scraping by build confidence and produce stronger game for the rest of your life.

Thanks for the advice, I dig telling the chicks you're in town for a job interview. Makes them know you're only there for a bit, but have potential to come back. I'll definitely check out airbnb and find a place that is close to everything. My sister has some quality luggage I could probably use in the future until I graduate/find a job, there were also some at a thrift store I went to yesterday.

I'm 20 and can get into periods of becoming a recluse so this trip is more about seeing how I like traveling by myself with the added bonus of boning a few locals. I figure Calgary is a good location because its in my home country and relatively close to where I'm from so if anything goes horrifically wrong I can still get home or be able to navigate easily without a language/culture barrier in the way. I definitely see where you're coming from with the 'traveling solo is addicting' I really enjoy freedom, figuring things out, dealing with new situations etc.

I also like the hostel idea. Kind of similar to this 'being a tourist in your own city' idea I've been half-assedly working on.

First Solo Trip

I've returned a few weeks ago from my first solo trip, which lasted for a bit over 3 months. I'm 20 and pretty broke too.

Here's my advice to you:
You should either figure out what you want to get from this trip (pussy? fun with friends? alcohol/drugs intake? tourist knowledge?) or figure out nothing and go with whatever happens.

I found that deciding on one of these options was a good way for me to focus on what I wanted to do. Of course I wanted girls during my trip. But mainly it was about going with the flow, pushing my limits and seeing how far I could go, in every single way. I planned everything one day before I had to actually do the stuff I was planning, which was always exciting. This put pussy as a lower concern on my list and ended up costing me a few bangs. But it is very pleasing to discover your own boundries. Many people travel all around, see the world, and yet know nothing about their own minds, bodies and capabilities.

You want to focus on chasing pussy and having a good time. Good choice. Here's how I'd do it if I were you:

Accomodation:
As MaleDefined mentioned in his post (good post, by the way) it can be quite satisfactory to visit a hostel and meet people who have an adventurous, easy style, such as the one you're starting to develop. And although it isn't my personal preference, you can also hunt the girls who are staying there. It's good to break the ice if you've never travelled before.

But since you want to chase tail, you do not want to go to a hostel dorm. Few things suck more badly than finding a girl who wants to bone you and having no place to take her.

You need a room for yourself or a place where you can bring a girl over. You could hire a private room in a hostel, but that would probably limit your possibilities to the girls who are staying there, as it is very common that even if you have a private room, you cannot bring guests over. So if the goal is to smash, go hotels, airbnb or friend's houses.

Luggage:
For now, you can borrow your sister's luggage. While you figure out what kind of luggage you'll need in the future and how you prefer it to be, save money.

If you become a traveller, luggage is not something you want to spare on. Cheap stuff is shit, it will tear, stain, break, rip, and give you headaches when you least want them -- away from home, on a budget, wanting nothing more than to have a good time. Good or at least decent products are not really that expensive in comparison. Get quality luggage that will last you a lot of time. Let's say you're getting yourself a big backpack, for example. You have to choose something comfortable and practical and durable. If it is cheap, there's a good chance it will be poorly designed or constructed. You'll be carrying that shit on your back and it will hurt if it is a bad product! So just take your sister's luggage for now.

Transportation:
Do you have the time to spend on a 15h bus ride? How many days do you have off?

When I travel, I usually have a lot of time and very little money. So in this case, I'd pick the bus. You'll have $170 to spend on your trip! This can mean a maybe 2 extra days you'll stay, or more money for drugs and alcohol, which always comes handy. We are 20 years old, we can take a long, shitty bus ride.

You can also look at carpooling websites. I've never tried this in Canada, but it worked very well in Europe. Here's a few of them: E-Ride share, Carpool, Find Carpool. Usually you'll have to pay a small amount to the driver. In Europe I'd usually pay something like 20€ for a trip that would cost me 80€.

Also, if you have the time, why not simply hitchhike? If you choose to do it, I'll give you some extra tips later.

And since your goal is to get women, talking to them is your job. Remember: no one here knows you, have no fear of being ridiculous! Go out in the morning and stay out for hours talking to everyone you see. I'd recommend you to talk to guys who look cool, too, because sometimes I met guys who took me out with them and their female friends.

Also, although I would save in a lot of things, there are times when you shouldn't be a cheap ass. If met some guys with girls at a bar, for example, I'd sometimes pay them a shot. They'll want to be friends and introduce to their friends, too.

Keep in mind that everything you do is an investment, and you have to spend to earn. You'll be spending on this trip, but it will certainly repay you in experience.

By the way, what sort of event are you attending to?

First Solo Trip

I'm bumping this for something related. Don't want to start another thread. Also I didn't end up going on this trip, some school stuff got in the way.

I need perspective. The city I'm in depresses me, its always grey, no one makes eye contact, the girls are getting fatter and its very cliquey, not to mention the hipsters, tattoos and bad haircuts/piercings. I've got a week off in the middle of feb for spring break and I want to go somewhere completely different where I currently live. Flights are cheapest for stuff on the west coast and to get to montreal its pretty damn expensive, more expensive than flying to mexico or vegas.

I want to go somewhere with:
- a good climate ie. warm
- cheap
- good bars
- lots of interesting things to do
- good logistics
- feminine women. ie. not fat with tattoos piercings and a skrillex cut
- a forum member lives there that would be willing to meet up (another perspective I don't have)

Doesn't have to be poosy paradise, just somewhere that is the opposite of where I live. Suggestions?

Mexico.

Or maybe some spring break spot in Florida.

You are pretty young right?

WC, you're in Vancouver correct? You could hop down to San Diego. A guy your age could have some fun in Ocean Beach and Pacific Beach (PB). It's not Vancouver! Access to Tijuana, and Ensenada is not too far off.

Personally, I love Florida, especially in February, but that may break the bank.

Spring break is kind of a nightmare in San Diego, I hated it even when I was 21, but the poster might like it.

When I was thinking Florida, I was thinking the cheaper parts.

San Diego isn't exactly cheap either. But if you play your cards right, you can do it on a reasonable budget.

Also, the best months in San Diego are, July, Aug, Sept, Oct in my opinion.

Although you can get flashes of brilliance anytime of the year.

We have two members that just got back from Mexico. Jerial and somebody else. Hit them up to see how they liked it. I went to GDL in May and loved it. The weekdays are pretty dead tho, but it is cheap and you will love the women. Maybe Playa del Carmen would be better for you. Think about DR too. Good luck and let us know what you are going to do WC

Thanks for the suggestions guys. They all sound like solid places I'll check out the members/data sheets you mentioned. Those places to me do seem a lot different then where I live. I might stick it out to the summer and get some $$$ from my parents for a grad gift or something.

TexasMade by GDL do you mean Guadalajara? I have a friend who's family lives there (super rich), that might be a good one in case I get supremely fucked somehow, or even just a familiar face to show me around.

G - how much would you say a reasonable budget is for San Diego?

If you're heading to SD, don't go between mid-May and early July. It's often in the 50s and cloudy.

A reasonable budget depends on what you're going to be doing. Nightlife and lots of bars will run you a lot of cash. If you're looking to roll to the beach and chill/daygame it's free. I'd call $100 a day, exclusive of travel, a doable but fairly shoestring budget. Think $45-60 to stay in airbnb or a hotel close to the beach, $30 a day in food, and by buying bottles or larger sacks you can amortize your alcohol/weed costs over the course of the trip. If that's too expensive you can always try the $12 entry to the open bars at Safari, Baby Rock, etc. (shit, if those still exist...) down in TJ or head to Ensenada.

I don't think that is doable for lodging, do you?

Hotels in San Diego are pretty expensive in respect to other cities.

Cheaper than NYC, SF, LA, Miami etc, but not too much further below.

I am probably not the best guy to ask about "budgets" for your age group.

I am too far removed from it.

At your age, I would travel and spend zero somehow. Or end up with more money than I came with.

I checked airbnb for 92109 and zoomed in on the southwest Cass-Ingraham x Grand-PB Drive quadrant before posting that. There were a few places running in that range. I also figure the OP would be happier with a shithole 39.99 motel - which you can find in SD if you look - than coughing up for the kind of hotel you're thinking of. He has the option of Banana Bungalow or that hostel in OB as well if he really needs to go cheaper.

Surprising.

I will take your word for it.

Hell, that is cheaper than a lot of 3rd world countries.

I mostly travel alone, so it's key to have a real agenda laid out to occupy your time so that you aren't wandering aimlessly. Know what's worth seeing/doing in the city you're going to, and have a general idea of what you want to do and see so that you aren't spending a lot of time figuring things out just in case your contacts there are otherwise occupied. Hopefully, they can provide you with a place to stay to save on lodging. Definitely try to make that work. Hopefully you'll have some kind of privacy where you can bring back a chick without her feeling weird about it.

I'm big on flying to wherever I go because I don't want to lose valuable time in transit. I also try to travel during times when I'd normally be sleeping (very early morning or night), so that when I hit my destination I'm not exhausted and can pretty much hit the ground running and sleep at my normal time that first day in town.

I generally take a week to 10 day trips, so I carry no more than a backpack (for laptop and various chargers/gadgets, and other accessories), and a carry-on roller suitcase because I don't like checking bags if I can avoid it. You should have one of those too - or some other kind of travel bag that you can carry on. The backpack alone simply won't carry enough for a week.

It's always smart to try to pipeline and see what you can come up with. I've never tried to come up with an alternative to just telling them I'm on vacation, but depending on where you're going and what you're doing, it might be necessary.

First Solo Trip

I was gonna start a new thread but might just write on here. I just came back from a solo trip for 2,months in Latin America, and I see that a lot of people with their friends and actually afraid to travel solo. Wether they are insecure or what ever.

For me, a lot of times I have no choice as I have many career oriented friends and many just stick to their normal life.

So few things about traveling solo.

1. Sometimes it feels lonely, yes, few people will be living the remote lifestyle as you in this world, rvf is still a rarity in many countries, most people stick to their day to day jobs and social circle and have a stable life. This makes you, who is not common, a bit difficult to live your normal life if you had one before. You will many times eat alone In a cafe where everyone else is in groups. You will often go to touristic sights alone, where as others will have a group your, you will stay in places sometimes filled with groups of backpackers or travellers who are closed up and only open to themselves.
sometimes this makes me quite sad, and I wish I had traveled with someone.
2. Sometimes you will be of dlv. Demonstration of lower value. For example, if you are somewhere and you feel uncomfortable because its difficult to chat with people, ie not open environment. Try avoid these situations, no matter what people say. These situations are there. It's not that you are unsocial, it's more to do with the place... However, sometimes you will be in a very open environment, eg. Hostel cafe, where people are more open towards conversations. [Image: smile.gif]

3. You will need to make extra effort than people who are on groups. I am not saying the people in groups are bad and harm you, but sometimes you need to put in more effort to change things. For example, if a hostel is not that social and open, try find another one that has more vibe and more people communicating with each other.

4. Try be in friendly environments, eg. Nice hostel with people of interesting backgrounds and a open vibe, rather than a party place where drunk British teenagers go for holiday.if the environment is friendly, you will be less concious that you are by yourself and also helps you to be more sociable.

5. If your aim is girls, don't get involved in the language class social scene. I was in chile for 2 weeks taking a Spanish class at a school, and most people were not really on the same page as me. Guys didnt know much about game, wasnt doing much during the evenings or weekends. Girls all had boyfriends and there weren't anything happening. Girls seemed also kinda stiff and uptight compared to other travellers. My preference is local girls as that's why I am there for.

In general, I would recommend traveling with friends if you can, as I am much more happy and social when traveling with friends, nothing to do with confidence, I just want to hang out with people and talking makes me happy. However, if you can't find friends to travel with, take extra caution as sometimes you do feel that you need accompany when visiting places and try stay in hostels if you are alone as you will meet like minded people there and make friends with them, although this does depend on hostel.

If I do solo travel again, I would also try arrange a meet up with other rvf travellers, as you might have more in common and get along better.if not, I will try go to solo friendly places.
